Unveiling the New Chamber Brand
The Chamber announced our new brand strategy and identity in January and kicked off the first quarter internal launch transitioning the new look and feel to all our organization’s assets. This included membership certificates, business cards, letterhead, name badges, publications, collateral, websites, and social media platforms. It culminated at the March Board meeting as staff unveiled to them our new internal/external signage and our new pole flag.

Our Vision/NEXT initiative is all about imagining the next 100 years for the Chamber to ensure we successfully push forward our community’s vision. This forward thinking helps us remain relevant and necessary by focusing our mission-work on important community challenges.
What’s happening: Already, Vision/Next is inspiring exciting outcomes:
• One big result of this initiative is the launch of our new, vibrant, and modern brand identity to position us better with the next generation of leaders stepping up to lead. In this issue, you’ll learn how we have been unveiling the new brand and our plans to launch it to the community throughout the year.
• Another big outcome is communicating better. We understand busy, smart, professionals want information they can trust, delivered in an efficient and engaging way. We’ve raised the bar on what’s worthy of our reader’s time and challenged ourselves to communicate only what’s vital and worthy of your attention. If you have not opted-in to our newly formatted Monday Mission Memo, please do here.
Why our mission work matters: Your investment in our Chamber impacts not only the success of your business but also the community’s quality of life. It sustains our success for the next 100 years by funding what we call the Mission 5 – our five key focus areas of our mission-work:
• Advocacy & Government Affairs represents the Voice of Business with our local, state, and national legislators and influences long-term prosperity for all. We’re your seat at the regional table.
• Community Development prepares leaders, attracts talent, and ensures quality of life for our next generation by being the Keeper of the Community Vision.
• Destination Marketing & Management increases tourism revenue for regional businesses, generates returns for tourism marketing investment, and champions our destination’s quality of life for both residents and visitors.
• Economic Development attracts, retains, and expands business and industry, grows our tax base, creates jobs and career opportunities, and develops talent pipelines required by our local world-class businesses.
• Small Business & Entrepreneurial Development assists with starting, running, and growing business for our diverse small business community’s needs.
The single most important thing our Chamber brand promises to deliver is passionate people serving together to create a thriving community for all. That’s reflected in our new tagline Serving Business & Community Together. We hope you enjoy this issue of the new Chamber Voice of Business monthly newsletter.

from the President/CEO
Launching the New Brand
During the April 6 Annual Celebration of Business & Community the Chamber started our external brand launch to partners (customers, members, and investors), community leaders and the media. Over the next two quarters we will be working with our local media partners to develop an integrated marketing communications campaign. This will position our new brand to our audiences and build awareness of our new brand messaging, logo and tagline “Serving Business & Community Together.”
We’re producing television commercials, fun video reels and other social media content to help tell the story of our new brand.

Erimish Bracelet Bar Opening First Storefront in Rogers
Coming to Rogers: Erimish is excited to be opening their very first storefront inside the Pinnacle Hills Promenade Mall in Rogers this Spring! They will be located at 2203 Promenade Blvd., Ste. 5175.
Backgrounder: Sisters and entrepreneurs, Ericka and Misha (EriMish) took their bracelet bar idea and turned it into a brand that’s now in boutiques and luxury retail locations around the country. Erimish jewelry and Bracelet Bars are available in over 10,000 locations, from Nordstrom’s to local jewelry stores.
Empowering women: The Erimish brand of Boutique Stackable Bracelets & Jewelry is built to bring out your own style and share it with the world. Bold and colorful designs are one-size-fits-most. They offer a variety of wrap bracelets, starter stacks, bauble boxes, pillow stacks, singles, collections, custom name bracelets, watch bands, gameday flair, kids selections and other miscellaneous accessories such as earrings and anklets! Check out their new and featured items here.
Serving the community: Giving back to others who are in need has always been an integral part of their work. Each year they partner with many of their vendors and customers to raise awareness and funds for numerous local and national charities. In addition to their local work, Erimish has made a commitment to reach out on a global scale and annually sponsors missions work in Kenya, Africa through the organization Overcoming Children: OvercomingChildren.com
How it all began: While in a showroom looking for clothing to showcase in their new boutique just a few months after they opened in 2012, Ericka and Misha found something more valuable than any garment they could’ve purchased that day. A young woman reached out her arm to greet them, and stacked down her arm were a wide array of worn leather bracelets. Her personal style spoke to them as something that they could bring to customers in a way that had never been done before. They launched a brand-new Bracelet Bar in the boutique with the bracelets they had bought, separating them into groups based on their designs and colors. The mix and match Bracelet Bar allowed customers to mix-and-match to create a stack of bracelets that represented their own personal style. The Bracelet Bar in their small boutique was a hit, but to truly create what they wanted and to make the most of the Bracelet Bar, they needed to become designers.
Fast forward: They are now branching out to their first storefront in Rogers. Ericka and Misha feel that the Rogers and northwest Arkansas community are the perfect start on the next journey for their business! Find out more about Erimish by visiting Erimish.com or give them a call at (479) 389-4949.
New Multifamily Development Breaks Ground in Downtown Rogers
What happened: Specialized Real Estate Group broke ground in February on Downtown Rogers’ first ground-up, large-scale, multifamily development: First Street Flats. Designed by Modus Studio, the $28 million development will include four three-story buildings and include studio, onebedroom, and two-bedroom units.
By the numbers: This development will include 121 units and increase the number of apartments in Downtown Rogers by more than 140%.
Why it matters: The City of Rogers and Rogers Lowell Chamber have identified additional residential housing as a high priority for Downtown Rogers. When a greater number of people live in downtown Rogers, they have the potential to sustain existing and future businesses as both customers and workers.
Dig deeper: Downtowns were first established as the economic centers of their communities. After generations of urban sprawl and annexation, communities are recognizing the economic efficiencies, quality of life and appeal of living and working in an urban center. Public investment in Downtown Rogers’ parks, trails, infrastructure and other amenities, and private investment in commercial and residential property, is propelling the historic urban core to re-emerge as a vibrant community to work, live and play. As more people live and work in downtown Rogers, the surrounding businesses prosper.
More coming soon: In addition to this multifamily development, Downtown Rogers has seen at least five recent developments resulting in the construction of 23 single family, two-story townhomes. The city has approved requests for lot splits, allowing for a more efficient use of land and higher density for those who are seeking a singlefamily home but without the responsibility for a large yard. The Chamber and City of Rogers are supportive of additional residential developments in Downtown Rogers as we work to make the historic center of our community attractive to both businesses and residents.

Cybersecurity Protects Your Data and Reputation
Did you know businesses employing less than 100 people are 350% more likely to experience a sophisticated cyber-attack? Could your business survive an attack? Keep in mind, it’s not only your finances that take a hit when you encounter a data breach. Your company also experiences losses that hurt customer loyalty like:
• Trust
• Reputation
• Credibility
• Competitive Edge
Small businesses are prime targets:
Compared to larger corporations with dedicated IT positions, many smaller businesses operate on tight budgets, which translates to spending less on cybersecurity. To prevent gaps, incorporate your entire team with a few key steps. These behaviorbased tips can serve as an extra line of defense when Mike from IT is out and Janet from HR is now your #2 tech person of the day.
Understand the importance of passwords:
Just the mention of passwords can cause heaving sighs and deep groans. Everything needs one, they all need to be different, and no–it can’t be your favorite sports team. Why does this dead horse keep getting beaten? Weak passwords have always been subject to brute force attacks; however, with the adaptation of the internet and the development of deep-learning artificial intelligence, now nearly 90% of all passwords can be cracked!
Let that fear motivate you:
Create strong, 16-character passwords utilizing a mixture of upper and lowercase letters, symbols, and numbers. You can use a password manager such as 1Password or LastPass to help you securely store your different (yes-they need to be different) passwords for various applications, websites, and databases.
Enable multi-factor authentication:
Least
privilege access:
While you don’t want to spend the day playing Mother May I with your employees, you can’t give away the keys to the whole castle either. Set up your software systems with least privilege access. This means that each employee has only the permissions needed to do their job. If everyone in the company shares the same level of access to information, one compromised set of credentials would disrupt the whole system. When minimizing the effects of a data breach, the least privilege access approach has the greatest potential to contain damage.
Educate & protect against ransomware:
Ransomware is exactly as it sounds. It’s malicious software that infects, encrypts, and holds your company’s data hostage, and it’s often accompanied by a threat of information leak. Beyond forking over a ransom, this type of data breach gets costly, with an estimated average downtime of three and a half weeks. Malware is also evolving. With the rise of remote work, many companies are leaving online doors wide open for hackers. Educate employees and employ a strong security management team to avoid disruptions.
Even with a robust password in place, bad actors can still gain access if all that stands between them and your data is one piece of information. That’s why multi-factor authentication is strongly recommended. Authenticating your credentials in more than one way can look like any combination of more than one of the following pieces of information:
• Personal Information (password or pin)
• Personal Possession (identifying token or device)
• Personal Sample (biometric authentication)

Historic Carving Discovered at War Eagle Cavern in Rogers
What happened: Employees at War Eagle Cavern, a local tourist attraction open since 1977, have been working for several months on an expansion project that will allow visitors to see a previously inaccessible area. During construction of a new walkway, one of the cavern employees noticed something carved into the rock wall. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the letters spelled out the name “Blackburn.”
Backgrounder: Sylvanus Walker Blackburn (1809 – 1890) is very well known in Northwest Arkansas as the builder of the first grist mill in Benton County, a reproduction of which is still open today. Visitors from all over the country come to the War Eagle Region each year to visit both the mill and the cavern. Although the two attractions are not related, War Eagle Cavern and War Eagle Mill have often worked hand in hand with one another to show guests the natural beauty and historical significance of this region. The discovery in War Eagle Cavern could prove that the connection between these places dates back over 150 years.
See for yourself: War Eagle Cavern offers guided tours including one of the new expansion. Visitors are now able to see the new room, previously inaccessible to the public, along with the Blackburn carving. Learn more about War Eagle Cavern here.

• Appoint a Financial Power of Attorney: Immediate vs. springing powers of attorney and general vs. limited powers of attorney.
• Establish a Revocable Trust: Wills vs. Trusts
• Create a Succession Plan: Estate plan, corporate documents and buy-sell agreement.
Dig deeper: Read full version of Maggie’s tips here.

Yoga Story Adding Downtown Rogers Location
Why Downtown Rogers?
The growth and the vibe of DTR is aligned with ours! We love all the new and established restaurants, the Railyard and events at the Railyard, plus the small businesses present in a historic setting.
The magic makers
Yoga Story was established in 2010. Guests need no special ability, no special training, no special look. You can be well-connected, have a small tribe or be brand new to town.
• At Yoga Story, we know you aren’t WHO you know, WHAT you wear or what you DO. You are more than that. And we are more than just asana, the physical postures.
• We are more than just calories burned. We are more than just sweat. We are empowerment. We are education. We are authenticity. And together, we are magic.
What makes the new DTR location special?
• This location will still have a mix of hot and non-hot classes, similar to the original Downtown Bentonville location.
• Yoga Story anticipates having more regular prenatal classes and hope to offer yoga in Spanish!
• They will be able to have small classes, private sessions, a variety of one-on-one coaching and massage therapy!
About the owner:
Lynn Hill is a 500 hour RYT and 200 hour ERYT yoga teacher.
• Hill specializes in anatomy and is an AFAA certified personal trainer, a level 1 Precision Nutrition Coach and a fitness content creator on the Honest Soul Online app. Lynn is an ordained minister and teaches all styles but her regular classes consist of hot flow.
• Lynn is passionate about her two children, loves to cook and create - she’s even published her own oracle deck. She finds confidence and empowerment in strength training and triathlons. She completed an Ironman 70.3 in 2021!
• Guests will leave Lynn’s classes feeling strong and curious about leveling up in their physical practice and personal lives. Lynn weaves themes of resiliency and authenticity into her classes along with her knowledge of anatomy and breath work.
When and where will the magic happen?
Late May or early summer at 105 W. Walnut in the old “Felt building.”
Get excited:
Yoga Story is excited to be part of another thriving downtown area! They love being in the heart of a city and connecting to the community.
• Yoga Story is hiring a rockstar massage therapist! Contact Yoga Story here if interested or would like more information!

Chamber Hosts First Quarterly Spotlight Series Featuring Walton Family Foundation
Gold Sponsor Host Sponsor
The Rogers Lowell Chamber enjoyed highlighting the important work that the Walton Family Foundation (WFF) is doing in Northwest Arkansas during the March 2 Spotlight Series at the Supply Chain Hall of Fame in Rogers.
What happened: WFF Home Region Program Director
Robert Burns spoke about the foundation’s work in advancing economic and cultural vibrancy, opportunity, and inclusion in Northwest Arkansas through workforce housing, philanthropy, community development and governmental affairs.
Backgrounder: This was the first 2023 program in the quarterly series designed to bring the right people together at the right time to spark innovation, inspire ideas and align our community around common goals. Each quarter features a different theme to spotlight progress and illuminate issues that are opportunities for growing business, activating highimpact leaders and building a strong and diverse place to visit, live, invest, work and play.
It’s our mission work: This program is part of our Community Development and Economic Development mission-work.
• Our Community Development mission work activates a diverse, next generation of business and community leaders. We champion community engagement and inclusion initiatives by convening and engaging the right people at the right time. Our work also improves our community’s quality of life by supporting quality of place initiatives.
• Our Economic Development mission work creates a pro-business, pro-growth economic environment. It spurs economic growth as a key driver for increasing the sales tax base which funds education, public safety, and infrastructure. We also develop talent pipelines for current and future workforce needs by connecting educators and students with industry. Our resources and support help our community sustain responsible economic development growth from Downtown Rogers to Uptown Rogers and Lowell.

Go Downtown Rogers Maps Now Available
What happened: The Rogers Lowell Chamber is excited to share that we have received new Go Downtown Rogers maps. These newsletters are available to pick up at the Chamber, 317 W. Walnut St. in downtown Rogers, and at the City of Rogers.
How it all started: Rogers Downtown Partners, a volunteer led nonprofit merchants association, was incorporated in 1993 and served the downtown business community through 2021. The organization hosted festivals, shopping events and other marketing activities to attract patrons to Downtown Rogers until it dissolved in December 2021. One popular asset was the annual Go Downtown Rogers Map and Shopping Guide.
The big picture: The Rogers Lowell Chamber worked with the merchants’ association to maintain the Go Downtown Rogers brand (now a program of the Chamber) including social media accounts and website assets. The Chamber made a connection with NWA Media, a division of the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, and the merchants association’s former board of directors to consider continuation of the popular map. In partnership with NWA Media, Go Downtown Rogers released the new 2023 Go Downtown Rogers Map and Shopping Guide which can be found in shops, restaurants and offices throughout Downtown Rogers and is also available throughout the region.
Why it matters: Locally owned DTR businesses benefit from this map which provide visitors and newcomers with an easy to navigate and consolidated shopping guide. The 2023 map illustrates the wide variety of businesses that make Downtown Rogers an ideal destination for shopping, dining and spending quality time with friends and family.
We appreciate you: Thank you to the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and NWA Media for providing the creative.
Connect with us: We invite you to follow Go Downtown Rogers on social media! For more information, reach out to Karen Wagaman at karen@rogerslowell.com.

Chamber’s K2J Program Creates Talent Pipelines for Early Childhood Education
What happened: Educators from Rogers Public Schools recently attended the Chamber’s K2J (Kindergarten to Job) program, presented by Glad Manufacturing Company, in partnership with Child Care Aware of NWA to learn about career pathways in early childhood education.
Why it matters: Childcare access and affordability is impacting our members’ ability to hire and retain talent. Creating talent pipelines for these careers is vital to keeping our region thriving in the near and distant future.
Dig deeper: K2J brings together businesses, educators, and students to highlight careers across the NWA region. The goal is to create talent pipelines for in-demand fields.
By the numbers: Over 16,000 childcare facilities have permanently closed since 2019 reducing availability and increasing costs for working parents.
• An estimated 25% of the female workforce has left the job market citing lack of childcare options as the main reason. Increasing the talent pipeline of students into future childcare workers and facility owners will help alleviate rising costs and increase options for parents thereby easing some pressure off of the ongoing labor shortage.

Government Affairs Division Connects Legislators with Community
What happened: The Government Affairs Division of the Chamber recently hosted two successful events for our members and community, convening local political leaders with our business representatives.
Conversations with Legislators: State Legislators representing Northwest Arkansas gathered at the Rogers Lowell Chamber to speak on bills they are working on. They gave a brief review of current legislative issues. Attendees had the opportunity to meet, voice their opinion, and pose questions to elected officials in the Arkansas Senate and Arkansas House of Representatives.
Night out at the Capitol: Participants recently went to Little Rock during the regular legislative session to meet their Elected Officials and Legislators for an evening reception hosted by the Northwest Arkansas Chambers of Commerce. The entire General Assembly along with constitutional officers were invited to meet and greet Chamber members and our stakeholders.
Why
it matters:
The Chamber’s Advocacy and Government Affairs work represents the Voice of Business locally, statewide, and nationally; prioritizes the regional legislative agenda with local leaders; advocates for business-friendly legislation; and influences long-term prosperity and quality of life.

Destination Rogers Staff Promote Tourism Industry Throughout State of Arkansas
What happened: Destination Rogers, a division of the Rogers Lowell Chamber, Director of Sales Luke Wiggins recently spoke to Rogers High School as part of the Chamber’s partnership with Rogers Public Schools for the Mountie Mentors program. He talked about why students should consider travel, live events, and hospitality for their career along with all the pathways to advancement it offers.
Promoting Arkansas: Luke and Destination Rogers Executive Director J.R. Shaw also attended the 2023 Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism. Over 500 tourism professionals from throughout the Natural State came together in El Dorado to learn, connect, and celebrate the 2nd largest industry in Arkansas.
By the numbers: Visitors spent $8 billion in 2021 in Arkansas, a 33.3% increase over 2020 and equaling 2019’s record number. The industry supports over 64,000 jobs and generates $653 million in state and local taxes, meaning every household in the state saves $759 in taxes from the additional tax revenue generated by tourism.
Celebrating success: Governor Sanders attended the Henry Awards banquet on the conference’s final night. The Henry Awards celebrate excellence in Arkansas tourism across five categories, including the Rising Star Award, where we were honored to have Luke as a finalist. The Downtown Rogers Railyard Park and Butterfield Stage were also finalists for this year’s Tourism Development Award. Recognition by our peers as leaders in tourism creates positive awareness of Rogers as a world class destination and celebrates our successes in placemaking, 3rd space promotion, and service to our community.
