Health Ministry January is national blood donor month. According to the American Red Cross, someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds. There is no substitute for blood. It is needed for sickle cell anemia and various other illnesses. Healthy donors are the only source for blood. Only 5 percent of eligible population donates blood in any given year., Volunteer blood donations make the difference between life and death for nearly 5 million people who receive blood transfusions every year. One donation can help save the lives of up to three people. The number one reason donors say theey give blood is because they “want to help others”. Won’t you think about helping someone and consider being a blood donor this month by giving the “gift of life.” Have a great week and blessed New Year!!
