Dr. Paul Hancock Named Research Medical Center Chief Executive Officer
Research Medical Center Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Paul Hancock, MD, MBA, an experienced physician leader, has accepted the chief executive officer position of Research Medical Center, effective April 10.
Dr. Hancock joins us from HCA’s San Antonio Division, where he has served the past seven years as chief medical officer for Methodist Healthcare, an eight-hospital joint venture between Methodist Healthcare Ministries and HCA Healthcare. Under his leadership, Methodist Healthcare has consistently achieved some of the highest LeapFrog patient safety scores and CMS star ratings, as well as achieved substantial improvements in hospital acquired infection rates, stroke door-to-needle times, cardiac mortality, sepsis bundle compliance, blood utilization, ventilator times and radiation safety.
In addition, Dr. Hancock brings a proven track record of developing solid relationships among executive team members and physicians, as well as growing key service lines, clinical trial participation rates and physician engagement scores.
Prior to joining Methodist Healthcare, Dr. Hancock served as CMO of Swedish Medical Center in Denver, CEO of the Harrington Cancer Center in Amarillo, Texas, and vice president of Baptist St. Anthony’s Health System in Amarillo. He practiced for many years as a board-certified medical oncologist and retains his board certification in internal medicine, and he has experience in both
private and large medical center settings.

I also want to personally thank John Krajicek for his dedication and exemplary leadership during this transition period. I am excited for the great things to come for this hospital – and for HCA Midwest Health – in the coming months and years.
