We Show Up Spotlight

Way to go RMC! You did such an incredible job of bringing out your creativity during Super Bowl Spirit Week. We had many great submissions to our unit decorating contest that we had to go to the Kansas City community for votes, which garnered more than 2,500 likes. Congratulations to PACU/OR for winning the contest and the pizza party! Our NICU nurses crafted outfits for two of the newest and cutest Chiefs fans. Staff brought out their best mustaches (or mask-taches) for Andy Reid Day. What made this even better is that the Chiefs won the championship, which means cake will be served in Café today from 12-1pm. Continue to send us pictures and videos of how you are celebrating this week , whether that is at today's victory parade downtown, at home, or here with our patients and colleagues.

Clothing Closet Drop Off

Did you know that Research Medical Center has a clothing closet that our staff and patients can pull from? Last week, Nicole Fowler, Marketing Manager, and her mother, Helen Maupin, arranged for the drop off of clothing to fill the racks. A special thank you to Terry Engling and Kelli Goodspeed (who manages the closet) for arranging the clothing pick up, and to Helen, who is retiring this month (Heart Month) after a 40+ year nursing career primarily in cardiac rehab, some of which was spent at the former Baptist Memorial Hospital.

We Show Up for Each Other

Black History Month Focus: Sophia Solomon, ACNO

"I know that there are many Black people who are competent and capable of executive leadership. My advice would be to remember that what one person can do, so can you. My faith tells me that all things are possible when God is first in your life. Whatever you want in life, learn as much as possible, assert yourself to be uncomfortable with something different. Find peace in stepping outside of what is comfortable and never lose your authenticity, humility and love for what inspires you to succeed."

Sophia is paving the way for many future leaders within HCA Midwest; she's led a book discussion group, is the Executive Sponsor for the Black Colleague Network, and is gearing up to be on a BRAVE Conversations panel about workplace inclusivity alongside Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas on

Wednesday, February 22, at Menorah Medical Center. Learn more and RSVP to this important discussion

Guest Services Chili Cookoff

Last Thursday was the Annual Guest Services Chili Cookoff! This year the event was expanded to include Plant Ops. A total of 14 chilis were entered from EVS, Food Service, Transportation and Plant Ops. The chilis ranged from a cream cheese chicken chili to a Jamaican Jerk chili and were judged by Senior Leaders as well as all of our teammates that were able to sample the chilis. Congratulations to our winners: 1st place, Jennifer Magee (Plant Ops), for the "amazing chicken chili"; 2nd place, Kyle Ness (Food Service), for the "fantastic Roadhouse BBQ chili"; and 3rd place: Renee Shutt (EVS), for the "incredible Jamaican Jerk chili."

HR Tidbit: What to Know About Form 1095-C

The Affordable Care Act requires HCA Healthcare to send a Form 1095-C to all colleagues who were eligible for an HCA Healthcare medical plan in 2022 – even if they were not enrolled. The form includes information about the healthcare coverage offered. Colleagues should keep the form with their tax records.

• Colleagues who have signed up for electronic delivery of the form will soon receive an email notice from BConnected with instructions for how to access the form. (Go to HCAhrAnswers.com, click Benefits: HCA Rewards and select BConnected. Then, click on My Health Benefits, select the More tab and choose Tax Form 1095.)

• Colleagues who have not signed up for electronic consent will soon receive the form by mail.

• If colleagues have questions about how to use the form, they should consider talking to a tax advisor. They can also visit the IRS website at http://www.irs.gov/ACA for more details about the form.

Administrator on Call (AOC)

ACNO Lindsay Goldammer was the Administrator on Call this weekend and rounded throughout the units Sunday morning handing out meal vouchers for those who worked during the big game. A special thank you to John Krajicek, Michaela Logan and FNS for providing a fun tailgate lunch to all staff and for Plant Ops for setting up a TV in the Cafeteria to play the game. Thank you to all of the staff that were here on Sunday as we know there was a lot of fun places you could have been, but are so grateful that you were here to care for our community and each other.
