WeShowUpSpotlight

On this edition of "On Air With Ashley", we get to meet our newChief Operating Officer Jessica Marin! She's back home in Kansas City after spending time living and working in other states, including, most recently, South Carolina where she was the COO for Summerville Medical Center in South Carolina, another HCAHealthcare facility. Get to know Jessica as she walks and talks with Ashley!

WeShowUpforour Patients

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our most memorable patients fromthe past year, Douglas Spieker. Doug, who was a neuro oncology patient of Dr. Amandeep Kalra, was the first ever recipient of a Bravery Bag fromActing Out Against Cancer in 2021. One year later, he carried on the tradition by giving a bag to Bobbie Clark, a fellowoncology patient, during our Bravery Bags event with AOAC.

In a Facebook post, Doug's favorite quote was immortalized on a holiday ornament, "It's a good day to have a good day." We couldn't agree with himmore! Thank you, Doug, for all the joy you brought to us and to others battling cancer.

Remembering Douglas Spieker

Holiday Cards forPatients

Help bring a little bit of cheer to our patients over the holidays by giving a homemade Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's, or general holiday card (or two or three). if you or your children would like to drawa picture or write an inspirational message, we will give to patients on their meal trays over the holidays.

Please deliver your card(s) to Admin by Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Thank you to Kelly and Jo in Pharmacy for bringing forward this great idea!

Corporate Security Visit

We were honored to host our Corporate Information and Physical Security and Division Quality leadership teams for a full-day assessment on Nov 30th. Kent Petty, VPPhysical Security and Kevin Cleveland, AVPPhysical Security, in partnership with Information Security leaders joined us as we toured the ED, ICU, 6th Floor, and points of entry and met with our colleagues in these areas to better understand our security processes and concerns. Overall, they were very complimentary of the work our teams do each day to keep our patients, visitors, providers, and colleagues safe and we look forward to implementing their recommendations for improvement once we receive their formal assessment in the coming weeks.

Food & Goods Drive Canstruction Receives 225+ lbs of Food

Is it a building? Acastle? Maybe a horse? No... it's a pinata... or a Can-iata! Thanks to yourgenerous donations to ourRMC Food Drive, we are able to donate more than 225 lbs of food (≈188 meals) to the Pastoral Care Food Bank. And we had a little fun by building a structure, which was part of a Division-wide competition, made of all the donations and sweet messages of ways you all have shown up for our patients, communities and each other. We didn't win the grand prize, but as runners up, we will receive $1,000 in Care Cards that will be donated to a local charity. Stop by the Café to see it before this beauty is broken down and moved to our RMC Food Bank where colleagues in need can select food at any time, no questions asked!
