We Show Up for our Patients
Patient Testimonial: Remembering Patricia "Pat" Williams
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Patricia "Pat" Williams, who passed away at 91 on December 31, 2022. Our staff at Research Medical Center, especially those in our Grossman Burn Center, reflect fondly on Pat, who had recently written a letter to Dr. Megan Garcia and the staff of our burn unit for saving her life after she was found frozen to the ground in her driveway on one of the coldest days in February 2021; suffering from severe frostbite burns to her body. Learn more about her remarkable story here.
We Show Up for our Communities Volunteer at Harvesters
The Black Colleague Network and LGBTQ+ Colleague Network have partnered together to host a volunteer event with Harvesters. Sign up to volunteer no later than 2/11/23. To learn more, click on the sign up link.

Administrator on Call (AOC)
"My Walk-a-Mile with the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Clinic was amazing. Lisa explained the pre-admission process. The gift of a living donor is priceless and needed to save lives and the passion this team demonstrates is contagious. They work to ensure that eligible candidates are consistently communicated with. They work with patients and families and educate them on what it takes to stay healthy and eligible for an organ. Lisa expressed that her greatest joy is to call a candidate to tell them that they have a match. This team is phenomenal and we are grateful that we provide this service at Research Medical Center."
"I am so grateful I got to share a Walk-a-Mile with Anitha! She is amazing and is a very good teacher. She explained to me everything she was doing and the 'why' behind it. She even mentored a PCT in the midst of her busy morning. When I departed the unit, she said, 'My patients are the breath of my life.' She was grateful that I came to walk with her."
Patra Katsigiannis, VP of Operations, was the AOC this past weekend. I attended afternoon bed huddle on Sunday to touch base with the House Supervisor and CNCs who were all doing well. I also had the opportunity to round in the ER, X-Ray, CT, and OR areas. Thank you to all of these teams who had a busy weekend with several trauma activations and always provide exceptional care to all of our patients!
