RMIT affordable highrise student housing
RMIT Tiro Rise Tutor: Enza Angelluci
CONCEPTUAL AGENDA: The central business district has seen an escalation in housing since the developer boom of Postcode 3000. A housing solution that has sustained a middle to upper class professional demographic. Statics indicate that one of the poorest demographics within the CDB are students. Current demand for affordable student housing is outweighing supply. This studio will explore the notion of high rise multi density housing in the CBD as possible solution for affordable student housing. Further, current political policies are indicating that funds are being directed to assist in the delivery of social services such as affordable housing. The studio will investigate opportunities to deliver student accommodation that engages in the ethics of space and form. RMIT has strived to deliver architectural excellence and has been an exemplar in the delivery of pedagogical space. These notions will become the basis of the architectural design proposals.
