Alter Bridge to Release Walk The Sky 2.0 EP Featuring New Song Written During Covid-19 Lockdown, “Last Rites”, Plus Six Live Tracks By Tank Orlando, Florida based rockers, Alter Bridge are happy to announce the release of their new EP, Walk The Sky 2.0. Walk The Sky 2.0 will be released this next November 6 on Napalm Records. The EP is spearheaded by the new single, “Last Rites,” which was written during the Covid-19 lockdown. Also included on the new EP will be six live tracks. Since Alter Bridge had to cancel their 2020 tour, they decided to spend that time being creative instead. The band has always had trouble taking time off, and the guys in Alter Bridge always have to be doing something creative. This time they sat down and reviewed the tracks they had recorded during their January and February touring schedule. At least they were able to get a few dates in before the world went silent. While the band reviewed tracks, they also had time to sit down among themselves and kick around ideas for a new studio song. Out of that brainstorming session came the new
single, “Last Rites.” The band decided the best thing they could do is put out an EP for their fans. In fact, for the most part, it had to be a live EP. So the band culled through all the tapes and selected six live cuts of songs that had appeared on their last album, 2019s Walk The Sky. The six songs they selected were “Wouldn’t You Rather,” “Pay No Mind,” “Native Son,” “Godspeed,” “In the Deep” and “Dying Light.” Along with those six, they decided to add their new single, “Last Rites,” and the new EP would be named Walk The Sky 2.0. With all that said and done, the band also went back to the original album, Walk The Sky and released a new single, “Native Son.” Already “Native Son” has managed to receive over 5 million streams. It is also burning up the radio waves as we speak about it, making it a sure fire hit. Alter Bridge has also released a new video for it that was produced and created by Stefano Bertelli. The animated video starts out in a rural
western town with a lone figure trying to survive in that backdrop as it is beset by changing landscapes and what appears to be earthquakes or at least changing land patterns that proceed to evolve into a futuristic town. All this is going while the song proceeds to play leaving the band to sing, “I’m a native son in a foreign land. I’m just living in a world I can’t understand.” Gradually flying vehicles appear and hundreds of figures carrying briefcases invade the scenes illustrating the never-ending progress of society. Finally the lone figure is spotted again… this time in outer space, as he appears to be sitting on an asteroid watching the overcoming of civilization take place. It is certainly an interesting video. Walk This Way 2.0 will be a great way to satisfy those Alter Bridge cravings. If you weren’t lucky enough to catch any of the shows at the beginning of the year, this will be the next best thing to checking out their new songs live. And don’t forget to check out the new song, “Last Rites.”
