As part of their long awaited UK tour, Milan based pianist Davide Logiri returns to the UK alongside trumpeter Ben Thomas. The evening will comprise of reworkings of standard material plus original tunes by the members of the band which features Davide Logiri (piano), Ben Thomas (trumpet), Pasquale Votino (double bass) and Paolo Adamo (drums). New York based Jazz guitarist - With John Paul Gard on Organ. Paul Cavaciuti, Drums. Expect plenty from Jimmy Smith/Don Patterson book! For more than a decade sheryl bailey has honed her reputation as a smoking post-bop axe-slinger in the crucible of New York City clubs such as Smalls and the 55 Bar. Libor Smoldas / Nigel Price Quintet A big hit at the 2018 Swansea International Jazz Festival Libor joins forces with UK guitarist Nigel Price! Czeck born Libor has lived in Prague since his childhood. He has been an avid musician since his early youth, starting with the recorder and trumpet, and picking up the guitar at the age of twelve. After initial forays into rock and blues he began to take an interest in jazz, mainly due to his fascination with the recordings of Charlie Parker. Paul Sawtell / Danny Moss Jr. Quartet Shrewsbury based Paul Sawtell, who has had a love affair with the vibes going back to the 1980s and is also well-known as a jazz pianist, has worked with a wide range of celebrated performers, from Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones to the BBC Radio Big Band, Kenny Ball, Syd Lawrence and a host of internationally renowned jazz soloists, including Herb Geller and Peter King. Fernanda Cunha / Afonso Pais Quintet Celebrating Antonio Carlos Jobim From Rio de Janerio one of Brazils' finest Jazz singers with Afonso Pais (Lisbon) Guitar. Fernanda has toured in Brazil, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Austria, Denmark, France, Malaysia and Argentina . This is her first UK appearance and Swansea is delighted to Welcome her! Fernanda Cunha is well established singer on today’s Brazilian jazz scene. She started to sing in 1997 in Rio de janeiro, Brazil. Her debut album “O tempo e o lugar” was recorded in USA in 2002. On her CD “Dois Coracoes “(2004), she’s indistinguished company, performing with esteemed Brazilian composers Johnny Alf and Sueli Costa. Derek Nash / Noel McCalla Band The Music of Stevie Wonder "Some Kinda Wonderful" A Huge Hit at 2018 Swansea International Jazz Festival celebrating the life-time genius of Stevie Wonder, with mesmeric vocalist Noel McCalla, the awardwinning saxophonist Derek Nash and a band of world-class musicians. Following sell-out shows in London’s top jazz venues, they play a wide-ranging catalogue of classic hits. The House That Soul Built rated this show as one the Top 10 Soul Gigs of 2018. Enjoy hit after hit from albums such as 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered', 'Innervisions', 'Songs in the Key of Life' and 'Hotter than July', as well as danceable classics 'Superstition', 'For Once in my Life' and 'Isn't She Lovely'. Noel McCalla’s long association with the brilliant Morrisey Mullen Band earned him acclaim as “one of Britain’s best soul singers” (Blues and Soul Magazine) and Noel's searing, soulful vocals were featured with the iconic Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Derek Nash has played in Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra since 2004 and is also a member of the Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion. He has won several British Jazz Awards throughout his career. He has also performed live, on record and on television with the likes of Gregory Porter, Chaka Khan, David Sanborn and Eric Clapton. Brandon Allen (tenor saxophone) Ross Stanley (piano/keyboards and Hammond organ) Arnie Somogyi (acoustic and electric bass) Matt Home (drums) Originally from Perth, Western Australia, Brandon relocated to London in 2000. Since arriving in the UK, he has worked with many varied artists and groups/ensembles as a saxophonist. Brandon is also busy as a session musician, composer and arranger for commercial music and films. His stream of jokes, anecdotes, and hilarious observations reflect an early immersion in show-biz, and a keen eye and ear for the many quirks of human nature. Growing up in Llandeilo, musician and all round entertainer Oli Nez first started learning the saxophone in the hopes that it might help with his severe childhood asthma. He was quickly drawn to jazz after hearing some of the world’s top musicians performing at Brecon Jazz Festival. After seeing Michael Brecker and Courtney Pine raise the roof off Brecon’s normally sleepy market hall, Oli knew with a sudden certainty that the saxophone would become his life!
