Hello Darling! It’s springtime in the Rockies, finally! Warm 70 degree days and the winds of summer remind us how beautiful it is outside. Katie + George telluride
Katie & George first crossed paths their senior year at Georgetown University. Katie knew George had a crush, he was always trying to steal kisses from her! George eventually talked Katie into going out for Italian at Acqua Al 2 in D.C and the rest was history! The couple dated long distance until they finally called San Francisco home. During those four years, Katie and George chose each other every day. A couple years later in August, George planned a romantic getaway for just the two of them to Mount Tamalpais - a place where Katie’s family loved to visit. On the drive up, George started to secretly panic. The weather was horrific and he didn’t have a back up plan for his surprise proposal! Once they reached the top of the peak, the weather broke. Hand-inhand, the couple went on a quick hike (George was practically sprinting) before sitting down to watch the sunset. As the sun set behind the clouds that kissed the bottoms of their feet, George pulled Katie in close and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. With no hesitation she said, “Yes!” They planned an elegant, Telluride outdoor wedding for September 9th.

She was inspired by a color palette of Indigo blues, golden hues and wooden accents - the perfect transition from an endless summer to autumn in the mountains.

our happiest hour After the “I Do”, Katie and George ran away with their photographer to spend some alone time together and capture amazing portraits. As the newlyweds returned for happy hour, everyone started cheering. The couple could feel the love surrounding them and their union. It was definitely a moment to embrace.
advice for rocky mountain couples “Two or three days before the wedding identify someone you really trust and put that person in charge (in our case our AMAZING wedding planner, Wendy, at Soirée Telluride). Stop all the organizing and planning. Remember that everyone else can handle anything that may arise last minute. Let all of the logistics go so you can ride the wave of your wedding weekend and enjoy all of the beautiful moments in-between.”

Hilary and Ricky attended rival high schools in the Chicago suburbs. The two knew of each other back then, but they were both dating other people at the time. Little did Hilary know that Ricky had a crush on her since the rst time he saw her. After graduation, Hilary packed her bags and headed west to start her freshman year at the University of Colorado. Upon returning home after graduation, mutual friends tried to setup Hilary and Ricky. Hilary declined - if it was fate they would reconnect organically. And that’s just what happened! The pair’s undenying chemistry sparked one night out at a bar, and so their love story began. The couple dated for ve years before Ricky bought a ring. In the summer of 2016, the couple decided to escape the city and spend the Fourth of July with family at their favorite getaway; Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. That morning Ricky woke Hilary up early begging her to go paddle boarding. Although all Hilary wanted to do was stay in bed and enjoy a cup of coffee, Ricky finally convinced her to head down to the dock. At the waterfront, just as they were about to get in the water, Ricky got down on one knee and asked Hilary to be his wife. She said, “Yes!” Hilary’s family surprised her and drove up north to celebrate along with Ricky’s family! They planned a mountain desert inspired bash in Vail, Colorado for August 13th.

meet us in the mountains Immediately after their engagement, Hilary and Ricky knew they wanted to become husband and wife surrounded by the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. As a designer herself, Hilary envisioned blending a minimalistic, bohemian style with the natural beauty of the mountains for her wedding. They incorporated classic Palm Springs design elements, a soft color palette and their darling pug, Pacman, to create her dream day.
a quiet moment together “Our first look was such a surreal moment. There was so much built up anticipation. I was dying to see my groom! As I walked out to the balcony, where Ricky was waiting, it felt like my heart was pounding out of my chest. When we finally saw each other, there were no words... I jumped into his arms, and we didn’t let go until it was time to go. We looked at each other and took a deep breath. We were ready to walk down the aisle.”

hello, sunshine!
The weather in Vail was beautiful leading up to Hilary and Ricky’s special day. However, of course, the unpredictable Colorado weather played tricks on the couple and their guests that summer day they were set to exchange vows outdoors. Early afternoon the sky turned shades of gray and clouds began to roll in quickly. They decided to go for it and face the harsh conditions. Sure enough, just as Hilary got under the chuppah and the Rabbi started speaking, the clouds parted and the sun came through! It was fate, almost as if someone was watching over them.
advice to rocky mountain couples “Don’t lose sight of what’s most important - beginning a life with your person. It’s so easy to get lost in the stress and details. Yet, if everything had gone wrong, I still would have married the love of my life. Remember you’re celebrating a marriage not a wedding.”

Crystal and Javier first crossed paths nearly ten years ago through mutual friends. Although just friends at the time, Crystal always thought Javier was handsome, yet stubbornly confident. It wasn’t until a random hike together in Silverthorne when she gave their relationship a second chance. The couple became inseparable. Two years later, Javier planned the most special, surprise proposal for Crystal. While Javier was “out of town”, Crystal, her parents and a few of her friends took a day trip up to Silverthorne to enjoy a beautiful September hike together. Her friends suggested the same hike they took years ago as the sunset views were unbeatable. On their way up, they came across another group of people that looked as if they were celebrating a wedding. As they got closer, Crystal noticed that everyone on the top of the peak was watching her with a smile. Just then she looked down to find a trail of flower petals leading to the most gorgeous wooden teepee structure. She met the end of the trail, peeked around the teepee and saw Javier standing there with a bouquet of flowers and a sign that read, “Will you marry me?” She jumped in his arms and said, “Yes!” The two planned a romantic, boho inspired wedding in Silverthorne for September 3rd.

the perfect fit When it came to her little white dress, Crystal wanted something nontraditional and Bohemian. She tried on several gowns before finally stopping into a & bé Bridal Shop in Denver. Upon entering, she couldn’t take her eyes off the long sleeved, lace adorned dress on the mannequin in the front of the store. It was the first and only gown she tried on that day. Her intuition was right because it was perfect! She even teared up just like everyone said she would when she found “the one”!

Amber + Ryan longmont
Amber and Ryan’s careers brought them together. Amber was working for Southern Wine & Spirits, while Ryan was a supplier for Jim Beam. Although they were often found in the same places professionally, the two didn’t talk much. As time went on, they took a liking to one another through business deals and ride alongs. One summer night in June, Amber and Ryan went to a concert together in Buffalo. Sparks few and the two fell in love. In the fall of 2016, the couple took a week off for a little R&R. One morning Ryan woke Amber to ask her on an apple picking date. He insisted she pack a bag of dress clothes for a nice lunch to follow. Amber didn’t give Ryan’s requests a second thought and started getting ready as it all felt like a normal day. After apple picking, they stopped at Mirbeau Inn & Spa for a bite. Ryan led Amber through their luscious gardens, because “he made a reservation and had time to burn”. As they walked hand-in-hand down the cobblestone path, they were met by the most beautiful willow tree. Just then Ryan turned around, took Amber’s sunglasses from her face and asked Amber to be his wife. Completely in shock she said, “Yes!” Ryan even hired a photographer to capture the moment! The two planned a Colorado destination wedding on September 21st.

Kelly + Reid denver
Kelly and Reid met in Student Senate while attending college in Cedar Rapids. Although the two started off as just friends, Kelly always had her eyes on Reid. Their chemistry finally sparked on Student Flunk Day - a day of campus wide shutdowns, celebrations and fundraising at local bars around the city. Just as the bar was closing down that night, the two bellied up only to get “iced”. Kelly and Reid were challenged by a mutual friend to chug a bottle of Smirnoff Ice together. A few weeks later, they were inseparable! The couple dated for five years before making things official. Kelly anticipated a ring as she is known to be quite the planner. However, Reid knew just the trick to surprise her. One day Kelly’s sister asked her to go out for a manicure and pedicure before Kelly’s night shift as a labor and delivery nurse. On her way to the hospital she got a call from her boss saying that they didn’t need her to come in. Although slightly shaken from the last minute change, Kelly returned home only to find Reid and their chocolate lab, Milo, in the back yard waiting for her. Milo carried a sign around his neck that read,”Will you marry my Dad?” Completely swept off her feet, Kelly said, “Yes!” They planned a Tuscan inspired celebration in Kelly’s parent’s backyard for a beautiful summer day in August.

“Although we were a little nervous, and our families thought we were absolutely crazy, Reid and I wanted Milo to walk down the aisle with my nephew. You see, he is the sweetest dog but he is not the best behaved. During the ceremony, he made it down the aisle and sat in the front row perfectly. We were so relieved! Until I saw a barn cat right next to us under the altar.. Milo took off and chased after the cat! About ten minutes later he came stumbling back up the hill with a broken collar. The crowd broke out in full laughter which in turn lightened up the mood a bit. Bless Milo!”

food heaven The newlyweds wanted their guest’s dining experience to come to life on their special day. For cocktail hour, Epicurean crafted a custom ice sculpture that poured chilled Cosmopolitans while chefs were on location slicing an assortment of meats and hand pulling fresh mozarella. Large plates of wild boar ragout pasta were served at dinner along with rosemary Lemoncello chicken and black angus tenderloin. Finally, Kelly and Reid offered wood fired pizzas as well as the most delicious Sicilian donuts for a night cap.
advice for rocky mountain couples “Make your wedding day YOUR wedding day. Things may not go as planned: your dog may chase a cat mid-ceremony, it might rain and you may forget to cut the cake. But enjoy every moment, dance your heart out and don’t sweat the small stuff. Your wedding day is about celebrating your love and the rest of your life. It’s one of the only days that all of your favorite people will be in the same place. Don’t forget that and revel in it!”

Whitney + Tanner denver
Whitney and Tanner found one another while going to school at Westmont in Santa Barbara. At first, Tanner was strictly Whitney’s Greek tutor until, he fell for her contagious smile and wit! From California, Colorado, North Carolina and back, the couple dated for five years much of which was long distance. In the summer of 2016, while Tanner finished up a job in Durham, Whitney waited for him to meet her back in California. On the very last day of summer, for Tanner’s homecoming, the two explored Tanner’s hometown and stopped at their favorite spots along the way. That night they made plans to go to the fair with friends at the Orange County Fairgrounds. Surrounded by crowds of people and dancing lights, Tanner pulled Whitney into the closest photo booth. His good friend snuck the ring box into his hand on the way in. Between the first and second shot, Tanner turned to Whitney and asked her to marry him. By the third trip of the shutter Whitney was completely shocked. Before the final shot she had time to find composure, say “Yes!” and kiss her soon-to-be husband for the photo reel.
