Social Distancing Measures
Key Issues
Reducing Class Sizes
Bubble Groups
Boarders and Day Pupils Apart
Minimising Students in Communal Areas
Packed Meals Roedean’s Approach
Altered classroom layouts will maximise the distance between all teachers and students
The maximum pupil capacity of each classroom will be reduced to allow for greater distance between students
There are a number of open and spacious study spaces in the School
The number of bubble groups to which a student belongs could be minimised to reduce the number of student contacts
Given the nature of the School, keeping boarders and day pupils apart will not be possible, but efforts will be made to reduce the mixing between groups
There will be no large gatherings in communal areas of the School, such as the Boarding Houses or the Theatre
Staggered lunchtimes will minimise groups mixing in the Dining Rooms
Students will be able to choose to eat a packed meal instead of eating in the Dining Rooms
Reducing the Numbers of Visitors
Single Boarding Rooms
Isolation Facilities on site
Minimising Trips and Sports
Our security gate controls and restricts access to visitors from outside the School
All visitors to the school site will undergo checks and be required to use hand sanitiser
The majority of boarders have their own single rooms, and, as far as possible, we will endeavour to ensure that this is the case for overseas boarders
The School has an Isolation Facility on site – see the next section for further details
All activities in School will be thoroughly risk-assessed
Updated protocols on school excursions are in place
Creative and fun fitness-based exercises may replace team sport, if necessary
Only non-contact sports will be permitted, if necessary
The size of the school site provides adequate space for healthy exercise at a safe distance from others
Fitness and exercise programmes will be available on line for the students to access independently
