This Coffee Run was a little different in that it included fellow Porsche Club members from Western Australia who were visiting Melbourne, so PCV arranged a courtesy Coffee Run along some of Victoria’s picturesque countryside.
The run planned was easy to follow and enjoy ensuring we didn’t lose any of our guests and for that matter any PCV members. Kon made sure the roads were Porsche friendly except for the unexpected pot holes towards the end heading back to Melbourne.
The meeting point was at BP Outbound Calder Park which PCWA members found without difficulty. There was a nice selection of 15 Porsches lined up from both Clubs. After our meet and greet Kon Gogos got everyone together for the briefing before starting off on what turned out a sunny and inviting day.
Before starting off it was agreed since Kon planned the run he should also lead, but also have a PCV member at the rear so our PCWA guests were able to follow without taking any detours by mistake.
We started heading west with Kon in the lead through Diggers Rest, Toolern Vale and Coimadai passing Merrimu Reservoir which looked pretty full. Heading north to Gisborne along some spectacular scenery on both sides which I’m sure our guests would have appreciated.
Going through Gisborne and Riddells Creek avoiding some unexpected pot holes turned south heading back to Melbourne. From there it was an easy drive as we went through the outskirts of Sunbury passing several new estates which meant there were single lanes all the way to Bulla. Kon decided to show our PCWA visitors what a Melbourne new housing estate looked like, I’m sure it was appreciated!
From Bulla it was a leisurely drive passing the top end of Tullamarine Airport along Tullamarine Freeway to our final destination at an Essendon Cafe. Over an espresso and some pastries we got to know more about our PCWA guests. It was mentioned that PCV runs are much better organised and asked if they can have a copy of our runs notes for their future Club runs.
All too soon our guests started heading back to their hotel to get ready for the next part of their trip to Tasmania. Overall it was a very pleasant and relaxing run which all members enjoyed, driving our Porsches along some of Victoria’s country side.
