At the age of 11 Collin started working on the streets, a year later he attended the school for traditional painting in Goes, the Netherlands where he learned the old techniques from painting and the theory from all paint mediums, and how to applicate them. In 1996 he graduated as the best student and was accepted for a 4 year painting and graphic education at St.Lucas in Boxtel, the Netherlands. Graduated in 2000, and attented the art-academy St. Joost in Breda, the Netherlands. He studied illustration for 4 years and graduated with a bachelor-title in 2004. During the time at the academy Collin and a couple of friends started a open minded gallery ‘’Punct’’ for young upcoming artists in Tilburg, the Netherlands, from 2002 till 2006. After the graduation at the art-academy St.joost he moved with his girlfriend to Maastricht, the Nethelands and started a gallery for contemporary art in the city-centre, ‘’Galerie Groen lLicht’’ Currently he is working as a gallery-owner, illustrator and painter. Since 2004 Collin is collaborating on various national and international projects with his good friend, Rutger Termohlen, a illustrator and painter too. The share the same vision on life and work wich results in collaboration canvasses with stories about daily life and questioning the society we live in.

The Adventures of Tinger Das Jump-And-Run The Adventures of Tinger lässt einen Wolpertinger spannende Abenteuer in einer typisch bayerischen Umgebung erleben. Der Held muss seinen Freund, den Leberkäse, aus den Fängen der Fleischmafia befreien. Das Spiel ist eine Entwicklung von André Ljosaj (Konzept, Design, Illustration, Animation), David Scharf (Programmierung) und Deniz Khan (Sounddesign, Musik). Das Game, von dem zurzeit einer von drei Levels fertiggestellt ist, basiert komplett auf Flash. Die zugehörige Internetseite wurde vom Flash Website Award (FWA) zur „Flash Website of the Day“ gekürt.

Don´t be afraid to close your eyes About the working process: Understanding the poetical potential of a refined everyday occurance. Describing the disbelief in the restrictions of normative aesthetics and hierarchical contemplative concepts by taking position and documenting a process of changing values. Objective elements with a translocated place of abstraction, extracted from the immediately visible. Intersubjectivity and metalayers. Avoiding a one-dimensional easy meaning but always offering a point of view. White noise and a certain number of shades in standard landscapes ---Alexander Egger lives the first third of his life on the sunny Italian side of the Alps in a little village where Ezra Pound used to spend his summer vacation. He is truly impressed when he sees the sea for the very first time at age eighteen. Can’t drive even though he has got a driving license. Doesn’t like eating, especially not vegetables. Shyness and discontentment with his own inadequateness is a strong driving force for his work. Likes people sometimes. He is not easyly impressable but can fall in love with certain incidental movements which are not intended for somebody. ---We are in the epoch of simultaneity: we are in the epoch of juxtaposition, the epoch of the near and far, of the side-by-side, of the dispersed. [...] Structuralism, or at least which is grouped under this slightly too general name, is the effort to establish, between elements that could have been connec-ted on a temporal axis, an ensemble of relations that makes them appear as juxtaposed, set off against one another, implicated by each other-that makes them appear, in short, as a sort of configuration. DANIEL STOLLE FINLAND Daniel Stolle is an illustrator from Germany. He studied design in Germany and Finland and graduated in 2006. Daniel is living and working in Finland. His style has been described as striking, bold and simple and yet it delivers charming details. Often there are traces of the unfinished that give the drawings a certain roughness. Though most of the works are produced digitally, Daniel’s affection for classic printmaking, like woodcut or screentprint, is very obvious.

morta griskeviciute vilnius - lithuania Born in 1987 in Vilnius (Lithuania) , Morta was drawing since her childhood, however only at the age of 18 she started learning academic drawing and finally entered the academy of Arts in Vilnius, where she studied fine arts. After one year she moved to antwerp and studied two months in Royal Academy in Antwerp. THE POISONED POSTCARDS The Poisoned Postcards are my collection of sights from places unknown, at least unfound in touristic attractions guides. Some look eerie, most strange and sometimes remind of locations you might have visited in weird dreams... However, these places seem to actually exist - someone is sending me a postcard from over there from time to time. As their origin and sender are a mystery to me, i am afraid to touch them when they literally fall out of my letterbox, but i document them (as they seem to be connected to someone..s memory)... Bruno 9Li (São Paulo, Brazil) returns to Anno Domini on August 1st, 2008 for his second solo exhibit in the United States. META, the title of 9Li’s follow up exhibition to Mysterium Tremendum (2007), is a reflection on its Greek origin relating to the concept of “beyond.” What lies beyond the perceptible reality that we share in our day to day lives? What follows our existence here on Earth? Bruno continues his process of drawing as a means of contemplative action while these ideas flow through him and into the art. He pulls his inspiration from the themes of spiritism, metaphysics, ovnis (UFOs) and exotic, aquatic plants and animals. His figurative works are a synthesis of these alternative realities. Bruno elaborates, “They represent entities sharing spiritual experiences: animals that have combined with aquatic plants, beings that see through futuristic glasses – perhaps a metaphor for the kind of vision that sees a reality beyond what our senses perceive, the kind of sight considered sacred, given to us on earth to help us gain insight into our place in the cosmos.”

INTERNATIONAL ILLUSTRATIVE ART FORUM ZÜRICH 17.10. – 26.10.2008 Berlin, Paris, jetzt Zürich: das Kunstforum ILLUSTRATIVE zeigt die neuesten Strömungen der Illustration und Grafik Vom 18. Oktober bis zum 26. Oktober 2008 findet in den Messehallen in Zürich die ILLUSTRATIVE, das 4. Forum für illustrative Kunst und Grafik, statt. Die ILLUSTRATIVE, die im Jahr 2006 von Pascal Johanssen und Katja Kleiss in Berlin ins Leben gerufen wurde, ist das einzige Kunstforum weltweit, das die aktuellen Tendenzen und die gesamte Bandbreite der künstlerischen Illustration und Grafik im Rahmen einer Ausstellung zusammenführt. Die illustrative Kunst ist frisch, humorvoll, zugänglich: das Spektrum der auf der ILLUSTRATIVE gezeigten Arbeiten reicht von psychedelischen Wandmalereien und erotischer Neo-Pop-Art über monumentale Stadtpanoramen bis zu Zeichnungen von fast fotorealistischer Schärfe. Die besondere Sensibilität für gestalterische Qualität und der Mix aus analogen und digitalen Techniken verleihen der illustrativen Kunst eine spezielle Progressivität, die seit einiger Zeit die Entwicklung der Gegenwartskunst entscheidend mitprägt. Die neueste Ausgabe der ILLUSTRATIVE hat sich gegenüber den Vorjahren erweitert. Sie umfasst einen zentralen Ausstellungsbereich, Sektionsausstellungen, temporäre Projekträume sowie ein Forum für Präsentationen und Gespräche.

Die Ausstellung
Die Sektionen
Die Hauptausstellung zeigt mit über 400 Arbeiten von 35 Künstlern erstmals eine vollkommen internationale Werkschau, die durch alle Facetten der illustrativen Kunst führt. Zu den Künstlern der Hauptausstellung zählen bekannte Künstler wie die deutschen Illustratoren Olaf Hajek und Martin Haake, der spanische Comickünstler Jorge Fabian Gonzales Varela, der französische Zeichner Frédéric Coché, kalifornische Maler wie Eric Sandberg, Vincent Hui und Edwin Ushiro oder der japanische Motion-Graphic-Künstler Yoh Nagao. Ergänzt wird die Hauptausstellung durch eine Ausstellung der 20 besten Nachwuchskünstler, die von einem internationalen Kuratorium für den „Young Illustrators Award“ nominiert wurden. Mit den preisgekrönten Arbeiten zeigt die Sektionsausstellung die jüngsten Trends und Stile des Genres.
In den Sektionsausstellungen wird den Einfluss der Illustration und Grafik in anderen Disziplinen dokumentiert, so etwa in der Buchkunst, der Mode und Textilkunst, in der Keramik oder im Animationsfilm. Die Sektionsausstellung „Illustrative Fashion Salon“ spürt den Einwirkungen der illustrativen Kunst in der Mode nach und präsentiert Mode-Unikate von AvantgardeModelabels wie c.neeon, Henrik Vibskov oder Ivana Helsinki, deren Kollektionen von grafischen Trends und Traditionen inspiriert werden. In der Sektion „Illustrative Objects“ wird den Einflüssen der Illustration und Grafik in der neueren Keramik und Glaskunst nachgegangen. Keramiker wie der Niederländer Hans van Bentem oder der amerikanische Grafik-Skulpteur Scott Rench zeigen, wie
in den letzten Jahren innerhalb dieser kunsthandwerklichen Szenen eine neue Formensprache entstanden ist, die sich von den klassischen Vorbildern emanzipiert hat. Erstmals wird es in diesem Jahr einen konkreten Ort zum fachlichen und kreativen Austausch geben, das „Illustrative Forum“. In diesem messeähnlichen Bereich des Festivals präsentieren sich Agenturen und Verlage, finden Aktionen, Diskussionsrunden und Werkstattgespräche statt.

Hintergrund Im Jahr 2006 kuratierten Pascal Johanssen und Katja Kleiss in Berlin die erste ILLUSTRATIVE. Ziel war es, der Illustration und Grafik eine größere Öffentlichkeit in der Kunstwelt zu verschaffen und das gestalterische Potential der Illustration innerhalb der zeitgenössischen Kunst sichtbar zu machen. Auf dem Erfolg der ersten Ausstellung aufbauend, fand die Illustrative 2007 in Berlin und im selben Jahr nochmals in Paris statt.

castle The first International Festival dedicated to the most actual phenomena in visual arts, the street art and graffiti. More then 40 foreign artists and Czech authors will present themselves in Prague streets and on Prague walls. The Industrial zones and various facades will transform into an exceptional urban gallery. The graffiti legends will meet in the Trafačka gallery in Vysočany, in its surroundings and in the Aero cinema, where they will present their work, show short film sketches and graffiti thrillers. Unique opportunity to meet writers, who „tagged“ the whole world. A rich accompanying programme of the festival – City Walks – guided tours throughout Prague, The Best Piece Competition, Graffiti Jam, Fan´s Award) is prepared for visitors. Festival will culminate in the Best Piece competition and continue with the Exhibition in the Trafačka gallery until half of October. The whole action will include a large catalogue. For the first time, Prague is to become a gathering place for the best street art and graffiti artists from all around the world. From 22 to 29 August they will work both individually and collectively in the streets of Prague 9 – Vysočany at carefully selected locations, ridding them of dull concrete greyness and changing them into an original part of a large gallery that is the city. The festival NAMES will run from 26 August until 6 September in Trafačka Gallery, an important contemporary art venue, and in the surrounding area. From 8 September until 13 October the festival will continue as an exhibition of selected works in the Trafačka Gallery and in the Hall C. As a part of the accompanying programme in the Aero cinema, visitors will be able to participate in individual presentations of artists and in projections of exceptional graffiti and street art movies. Along side, they can partake on City Walks around Prague, the Best Piece competition, the Fan´s Award – NAMES Map and the Graffiti Jam.
A colour book/catalogue with many reproductions of works created during the event, interviews with the participating graffiti artists and a number of interesting annotations will be published. A documentary film about the festival, graffiti and street art will be produced. Extracts of the interviews with the festival participants (full version on www.namesfest.net) APA COLLECTIVE (DK) „Graffiti and street art are done in pretty much the same places—outside, where everyone can see—but they tend to be very defined by the tools used; spray cans and pens vs. paste, stickers, stencils. We try to test out different tools in the same kinds of outdoor places, explore the possibilities of public spaces. People are still comfortable with calling that street art, we’re not sure if we are. “ ZASD (SRN) „…the line is something that is burning for a moment, it connects me with space. It is something hiding or presenting information, the pure material for a code. “Drawing a line is writing a line” even if I do not write letters, it is like time and direction. And it is free, I think people are always in the position of being consumers but when you look at a piece of street art you can just be stimulated by it. It’s not trying to sell you anything …“ SONIK (USA) „Most graffiti writers and street artists just run as fast as they can to paint in places like New York and London. Sometimes it’s a pilgrimage, sometimes it’s a career move. Particularly for all the street artists who wanted to get gallery shows and sell their work, this was a good career move. But I’ve always felt that to best honor the tradition of graffiti, you should take it somewhere new - whether that is a new train line, new block, or new city. Painting in a place like Nepal or India or Brazil or Bermuda or Iceland or wherever.... well, it’s some of the most fun I’ve ever had.“ ZEZÃO (BR) „ … no, I am not afraid when I go to paint the sewers, because I know the places where I paint really well. In the underground you get to see many things especially trash of all different types and forms. Dead animals, immense contamination, and really bad air, are the things that you are confronted with most regularly. Although, these places are very negative and depressive, I feel at peace with myself whenever I paint there. With the sound of flowing water I imagine a river or a waterfall, even though the reality is very different from that. The silence gets me thinking about the violence in the city and the degradation of the planet and nature as a whole.…“

THE BIG BUBBLE TEAM
a project by Francesco Spampinato Art Parade 2008, Deitch Projects, New York Saturday September 6, at 4PM, West Broadway, Soho The Big Bubble Team is a group of skilled bubblegum “inflators”. Members of the team parade along the streets of Soho carrying big pink bubblegum balloons on their face. Some of them inflate small dimensions balloons, others medium, others big and others huge till two meters. During their way, they proudly show their balloon to the public even when it will be so big to compel them to a terrible effort including the largest extension possible of their arms, the maintenance of a huge weight and the breath control.

The Big Bubble Team is a conceptual project if one thinks at the balloon as a private reservoir of oxygen exhibited at a parade. But The Big Bubble Team is also an ironic and provocative project showing something that apparently anyone is able to do, a balloon inflated with his/her own breath. For this reason, The Big Bubble Team aims to be a research on the meaning of “agonism” as a surplus in our society and an invitation to the spectators to test themselves and show their qualities even when it is just a matter of inflating their Big Bubble. At its fourth edition, the Art Parade has become a major event for the New York art world and for the whole city of New York. More than fifties are the artists involved every year from every part of the world, powerful the involvement of officers, gallery staff and volunteers hired by Deitch Projects and Creative Time, massive the media interest for such a unique event in the world where contemporary art really meets the street. The Art Parade is an event organized by Deitch Projects, Creative Time and Paper Magazine and takes place on Saturday September 6, at 4PM along West Broadway in Soho.

Meet the Hairy Beasts Linzie Hunter The terrifying Linzie Hunter originated from the barren highlands of Scotland but now resides in a North London suburb where she feasts on worms and grubs whilst working for clients including Random House, BBC, The Guardian & Little Brown. Linzie recently hit the headlines with her lettering work based on the spam e-mails in her inbox. Allan Sanders Born in the frozen tundra of the Northern wastelands, the horrendous Allan Sanders, a mostly hairless biped, now resides near the water in a settlement known as Brighton. Existing on a diet of rock pool delicacies, Allan has produced quirky, character-based and often humorous illustrations for clients including New Scientist, The Economist, The Guardian and The LA Times. Last year Allan became the poster boy for The Oregon Humane Society’s “End Petlessness” campaign. www.loopland.net Rod Hunt Born in rural Dorset, the diabolical Rod Hunt now inhabits the swampland of Greenwich, South London where he feeds mostly on shrubs and berries. Rod has developed a reputation for retro tinged illustrations & detailed character filled landscapes and among his client list he includes FHM, Maxim and Vodafone. Notably Rod illustrated the cover of the best selling environmental book “Change the World 9 to 5” published by We Are What We Do. He is also Deputy Chairman of the Association of Illustrators. www.rodhunt.com Nishant Choksi The monstrous Nishant Choksi originated from a murky lagoon in the centre of London and is now often found foraging in the wooded areas of Crouch End. A real life B-Movie monster, Nishant is inspired by advertising of the 40’s and 50’s and has worked for The Washington Post, The Guardian, JWT, Macmillian and others. There are some facts and people to mention: FULLDUPLEX – namely FRANK EFFEX and RANDY ROBOT - present two tracks from their latest liveset, three versatile remixes and a bonus track nobody would have expected! “VICTIM OF CHOICE” and “CELEBR8” are both awesome energetic and still harmonic – guitars, vocals, distorted sounds, huge percussive elements and deep bass lines push the audience to the limits!
DRUCKLUFT show their talent at the remixing stage – their “razor blade rmx” of “Victim of choice” crosses borders between house and electro after their successful “Distanz EP” at Tanzbar – a division of Kostbar Musik. SPENZA contributes his definition of electro. The GOMMA artist has been in business for several years now – latest news announce a new platform called “KWIK SNAX” and his first single “Kylie and me” already hits the crowds all over the globe. The “crunchy rmx” of “CELEBR8” makes use of heavily abused vocals from the original. KABELTON also transferred this track into a more experimental stage as shown on Bruit or Houseverbot rec. and there’s no doubt about the bright future of his dark materials.
