RAINBOW PLAYGROUP MUSIC MATTERS SUDOKU & WORD LADDER MAYBACH CAR REVIEW Ted Macauley tells us all about the new Mercedes - Benz Maybach S600
From the Editor Hello Bookham!
It seems that spring has sprung ! And how lovely it is, too. We have an action-packed issue for you this month which I hope you will enjoy. I’ve had a very enjoyable month and have been out and about, visiting a number of local venues. I’m delighted to share my adventures with you here. I was given a very warm welcome by Rainbows Playgroup when I called in to find out all about what has been going on there. What a lovely pre-school this is; do take a look at our feature on pages 20/21. Jo from Bonnie Dogs is going to do a charity sky dive shortly. Find out why she feels the need to leap out of a plane! I hope that, when you read this inspirational story, you will support Jo if you can by making a small donation. I will be there on the day, covering the jump for Look Local. (Pls note: I will, however, have my feet firmly on the ground!) Exciting things are happening down at The Vineries this month too: see our centre pages to find out all about that. Again, I hope to cover this exciting visit in next month’s issue. I wish you all a very happy Easter and let’s hope the sun will shine over the holiday weekend. Kindest regards,

I
‘m sure many of you have seen or even visited Bonnie Dogs, the dog grooming business on the Dorking Road in Bookham. I recently received a telephone call from Jo, the owner, and she told me that she is going to do a charity sky dive at the end of April. When she told me why, I immediately knew that I wanted to help her raise as much money as possible for the two amazing charities for which she is fundraising. The first charity will be no surprise to those who know Jo. It is Battersea Dogs’ & Cats’ Home. Jo has herself rescued four dogs and two cats in the past sixteen years, the first being a crossbreed called...you guessed it... Bonnie! These animals have all been very well cared for by Jo, and since opening Bonnie Dogs a number of years ago, she has always had canine staff in attendance at the shop in Bookham! Her customers all know Jo’s dogs and how important they are to her, so I understood completely her desire to support the amazing charity which has provided her with a wonderful selection of beloved pets over the years. My
first dog also came from Battersea, so it makes perfect sense to me. But the second charity was not so obvious. Sarcoma UK is actually a charity which is very close to my heart too and one to which I regularly donate. The reason Jo chose Sarcoma UK is because last year, Amy, one of Jo’s staff members, who was only 20 at the time, was diagnosed with a very rare type of sarcoma called GIST (gastrointestinal stromal tumour). To be precise, the mutation Amy had is called PAWS GIST (paediatric/adolescent wild-type syndromic). Quite a grand title. It seems that Amy doesn’t do things by halves! Amy is happy to share her story to raise awareness - and hopefully funds - and to help others who find themselves in her very unfortunate position. She was told that only fifteen people in every million are diagnosed with GIST, and the specific type Amy had was even more uncommon. Having lived for quite a few years with various stomach complications but with no specific diagnosis,
AMY IN THE ICU AFTER THE FIRST SURGERY
Amy had been told that she probably had mild form IBS. She was always careful about what she ate in order to control her symptoms. But following a succession of unexplainable urine infections, further tests were done. Just by chance, it was noticed during one scan that things weren’t at all right in Amy’s stomach area. After many more tests, scans and biopsies, a final diagnosis was given and Amy had to face major and life-changing surgery. She had been told that she had three tumours around her stomach area which had probably been growing for many years. In fact, she had to have two big operations in the space of one week, due to a complication after the first. She is now left with virtually no stomach. This is a massive ordeal for anyone to cope with, but to have this news at the age of 20 is devastating. When I read Amy’s story, I had tears in my eyes, not just because it’s sad that someone so young has had to cope with such a huge health issue, but also because of her bravery and optimism which I’m convinced have helped her recover so well. She is a remarkable young
woman and I hope you will join me and donate to this very worthy cause. Amy is now back at work at Bonnie Dogs and is doing very well indeed. I know Jo is delighted to have her back, as are Daz and Legend, the company dogs, who missed her greatly when she was away, I’m sure. Amy is a massive animal lover and missed her own pets very much while she was in hospital in London. I’m certain they’ve all been a big comfort to her during the past year. And this brings together so beautifully the two charities Jo has chosen, both being special to Amy and Jo. Jo, you are a very brave lady, and Amy, you are a total inspiration. Thank you very much for sharing your story. I’m just sorry I had to cut it short, as I couldn’t fit it all into these little pages. Look Local will be following Jo’s Jump! I hope to get some good action shots on the day and look forward to sharing these with you all in the near future! Link to Jo’s fundraising page: http://bit.ly/17535GB

T
he General Election 2015 is fast approaching, and here in Mole Valley at the time of writing, 5 political parties are fielding candidates. Churches Together in Bookham are organising a hustings event on April 14th from 7.30 pm at Bookham Baptist Church. The format will be along the lines of Question Time, with which many will be familiar. All five parliamentary candidates have agreed to participate - Leonard Amos (Labour), - Our incumbent MP, Sir Paul Beresford (Conservative), - Jacquetta Fewster (Green), - Paul Kennedy (Lib Dems) - Paul Oakley (UKIP).
Revd Alan Jenkins, Rector of St Nicolas, will chair the panel. This is an ideal opportunity to listen to candidates addressing questions about local, national and international issues, in particular those impacting on social responsibility, justice and cohesion. We will be seeking questions from the floor to encourage debate. If you have a passion for social justice or want to feel more involved in the democratic process, please come and join us for what we know will be a stimulating and challenging evening. Any enquiries or suggestions for questions, please contact: elainecrutchley1@yahoo.co.uk or kenpicknell@gmail.com

I can’t think of a nicer way to enhance your fitness and well-being than by joining a friendly local bowling club. We are very lucky here in Bookham to have just such a club. Bookham Bowling Club welcomes all levels of players, from newcomers to the experienced player. Last season, their green benefited from extensive renovation and is in really top notch condition. This has been noted by visiting clubs, and when I popped along last week, it was certainly looking very good indeed. The club members enjoy a selection of social events throughout the year, including short
mat bowling events, which are held inside during the winter months. A selection of open days has been arranged for you to go along and meet existing members and try your hand at bowling on the green. These events proved to be very popular last year and a good number of new members joined the club, following a trial session. Why not give it a go? The club members are all extremely friendly and welcoming and I am sure they would be delighted to see you at one of their open days. Details below.

ome new & exciting things have been happening at Rainbow Playgroup! Janna Anscomb, the manager, & Heidi Watson, the deputy manager, along with their experienced early years team, have been making some big changes. Rachael Bannister, an early years teacher & trainer, has been working with the staff & is a great asset to this lovely pre-school group. I went along to visit recently & had such a nice time meeting the children, their parents & the staff too. The playgroup is part of the Bookham Baptist Church, but all are welcome. It runs five mornings a week in term times from 9.15 – 12.15. I arrived just before the children & the staff welcomed me and showed me around. The hall is bright & cheerful & was divided into lots of different interest areas, which included tables for writing, choosing books & reading, Play Doh & glueing. There were also areas for playing with toys, doing art, a playhouse & kitchen area. This included real utensils, real pots & pans & even real food to pretend cook with! Dressing up & painting were available too. As well as all this, at one end of the hall there was the Rainbow Area for physical play, with a slide, soft play mats & big soft shapes to build up or roll around on. What a wonderful selection of activities to
choose from! There is also a small outside area with a sand pit & some water play, plus some fantastic mud play with diggers & bricks, which I am told is very popular! At 9.15, the children started to arrive. The two year olds looked so little, but without exception walked in very happily, & none was worried when the parents left, even one little boy who was there for his first morning. He was just keen to get stuck into a serious Play Doh session! Pre-school years are a crucial time for a child’s emotional development & the staff place a lot of emphasis on supporting the children and helping them to express their feelings appropriately. Young children will often naturally express their feelings physically, sometimes through hurtful behaviour, but with guidance & support, they can learn to do this verbally rather than through actions. I saw a few great examples of children problem-solving in this way by sharing the toys. It was lovely to see & you could tell how good they felt about sorting out their little problems in a grown-up way. All in all, the atmosphere was truly lovely, busy little people having a great time. The real food in the kitchen proved to be very popular. Several children ‘cooked’ stirfry for me & even offered me chopsticks to eat it with!
I must say I really enjoyed my time with the Rainbow Playgroup. The staff were calm & attentive in just the right quantities, allowing the children to be independent but well supervised. At snack time, the children poured their own milk or water & tucked into a selection of fresh fruit. Again, the sharing was a joy to watch. As part of the Rainbow daily routine, each child participates in a small group time activity. This activity is initiated by an adult & has a particular learning focus. The children have been really enjoying these times working closely with an adult & the staff have been noticing how the children’s learning has been developing as a result of these small group time experiences. Rachael recently introduced some sessions for parents to attend while their children are attending the playgroup. A number of parents went along to a session called ‘Having fun with your child’ in which they looked at how art can be enjoyed cheaply & easily at home. They looked together for some ways that adults can usefully respond when a beaming child presents them with a big red splodge on a piece of paper! (other than by just saying ‘that’s lovely’). Parents found this very helpful, & those who attended are now equipped to talk positively with their child about the creations they produce!
The staff in this playgroup genuinely value every child for who they are, & each child and family are warmly welcomed. The playgroup is very inclusive & staff really do go the extra mile to support children who may have special educational needs. One-to-one adult support is provided where necessary so that all children feel included, and all the children benefit from being in a diverse group. The staff are highly skilled at helping children to understand & respect differences in others. A life skill which many adults lack, I find! If I had a young child, I would certainly be considering this pre-school as a choice. I highly recommend you call & ask to visit if you are selecting a place for your child to attend. There are still a few places left for this academic year. Look Local likes Rainbow Playgroup very much! Thank you very much, everyone, for the warm welcome & the time you spent with me. Blues in Surrey In this column, I want to share with you news of what could be Surrey’s best-kept secret. A couple of weeks ago, I met up with some very friendly guys who are so dedicated to live music that they founded their own music venue at The Hersham Sports & Social Club, which they call the Surrey Blues Club. The address is 128 Hersham Road, Walton-on -hames, KT12 5QL On the first Friday of the month, Blues fans gather to hear live favourites, such as The Good Old Boys who played there recently,. This band features Nick Simper from the original Deep Purple & Richard Hudson from The Strawbs. Upcoming appearances from The Nigel Bagge Band, the Voodoo Sheiks, Blue Business, the Mike Ross Band, Bitter Blues & Meal Ticket should have The Surrey Blues Club really rockin’. The venue can hold 180 fans, but 60 is a more comfortable number. Entrance is free & the place is airconditioned, with beer at under £3 a pint. It’s great to know that live music is attracting so much attention lately & even better when a venue like the Surrey Blues Club is in our back garden! At the other end of the concert scale, I’ve been working with some local-based chums on what will be a fantastic event on 15th June at the Royal Albert Hall. It’s an evening dedicated to the life & time of one of the last century’s most revered & influential legends, Lead Belly. Artists on the night include Van Morrison, Billy Bragg, Jules Holland, the fantastic Laurence Jones, Eric Burdon, of the Animals fame, Ruby Turner & many more. I’ll be telling the captivating story behind the formidable Lead Belly, in between the stars who’ll be playing the music made famous by Lead Belly. The Starlight Chase charity will benefit from the evening, as they do such an incredible job with their own children’s hospice here in Surrey. For more info and to buy tickets, check out www.leadbellyfest.com Have a great month.

MAYBACH R E V I E W
TED MACAULEY TEST DRIVES THE MERCEDES-BENZ MAYBACH S600
I have some heartening news for all those international bankers & tycoons & Premiership footballers who are not so sure as to how to spend their massive multi-million quid bonuses & wages, especially if they have caring concerns for their chauffeurs. It comes in the handsome & hunky shape of an extra special limousine, deemed to stir the longings of those who appreciate luxury on the go and revel in the wherewithal to be able to relax behind their smuglygrinning chauffeur or take over the drive as a matter of self-satisfaction. It is the upcoming Maybach S600, a car Mercedes-Benz reckons will be driven by only a handful of its buyers, which is why they have optimised the back seat comfort zone to a level rarely seen outside the first-class cabin on an international jet plane. It is wonderfully refined & its massive twin-turbo engine is a mere whisper, a haven of peace and quiet for privileged passengers who, enjoying vast legroom & a glass of bubbly from the central console fridge, may raise their silver-plated champagne flutes (provided as standard equipment) in celebration of their good fortune. Ahead of its promised arrival later
this year, Mercedes has vowed the brand spanking new S600, longer than the original long-wheelbase S-class by eight inches, will be the ultimate challenge to the supercar likes of the Audi A8, BMW & Lexus LS. I could not agree more. It is little short of outstanding & as safe as houses - economical, too, for its impressive size. Just to add to the assurance that the chauffeur cannot ruin the atmosphere by talking too loudly over his shoulder to the occupants in the rear seats from the far-off front end, the Maybach has installed what Mercedes call ‘voice amplification’. That’s two microphones housed in the rearview mirror which pick up the driver’s voice & play it back via speakers on the parcel shelf to the passengers, reclining if they choose at 43.5 degrees on seats adjustable through 27 electric motors. Where do all these sublime benefits stop? Not there...for while
they are benefiting from that verbal protection, a gentle breeze of perfumed air from a fragrance called Agarwood from a tree wafts around the cabin. They call this added treat their Air Balance package. “It’s a luminous golden warmth of resin, married with a striking woodiness,” is the rather pretentious promise of makers. And they boast justifiably: ”This is the most refined saloon we have ever built - and the quietest car in the world.” So what about the muscular & mighty motor? It’s a twin-turbo V12 that slickly delivers all you ask of it, though on the trickier, twisty sections of road, you soon realise you are driving a heavy vehicle - 2,335kg - even though the so-called Magic Body Control suspension system evens out the bumpier bits up to 25 mph to save any bubbly spillage. My verdict? It is a five-star performer, stylish & stately, & I honestly cannot imagine what more anybody would want. Specification: Mercedes Maybach S600. Engine 5980cc. 523 bhp. V12 twinturbo.Top speed 155mph. Acceleration 0-62mph 5.0secs. Gears:7-speed automatic. Fuel 24 mpg. Price :Yet to be set, est £165,000.

he anticipated arrival of a new member of the team at the Vineries Garden Centre in Effingham nearly 8 years ago caused much excitement. She was 6 years old and although born locally, her ancestors were from warmer and more exotic climes. She was, of course, our beloved African Grey parrot, Ruby. Over the years, she has given all our team and customers great delight and entertainment. Ruby has chatted, danced (her own very special style of bop!) greeted customers and thanked them as they have left, all done with great charm. A great mimic and whistler, she has always been quick to learn and keen to show off. At times moody (aren’t we all), a little sulky on gloomy days and much lifted on sunny days, stubborn, nosey, funny, intelligent, chatty and very beautiful all describe Ruby. Sadly, on Sunday 22nd February, Ruby suffered an unexpected but fatal stroke. We will miss her terribly. She had become one of our family. Some may say this is a little sentimental, but for those of you who
knew Ruby, you’ll know it’s true. Visited by adults and children alike, she was quite the celebrity, something she was very aware of! Her time with us was quite brief in parrot terms but a full and good life lived. We would like to thank all our customers for their kind wishes and for giving Ruby so much love and attention over the years. We know you will miss her as much as we will. Following on from this beautifully written obituary for the lovely Ruby (thank you, Michelle) ... A local gentleman heard this sad story and as fate would have it, he needed to rehome his own African Grey Parrot ‘Jackie’ He contacted The Vineries and now she is happily residing in the Garden Centre. I popped in to meet her the other day and she is a happy confident parrot, seen here in all her glory! I am sure she will enjoy her new life, with an abundance of visitors and admirers, just as Ruby did for the past eight years. Fate or what? I think Ruby would approve.

The Surprise We had been colleagues for many years and dated on and off for almost as long. John had proposed a few times and I’d laughed off the idea. Lately though, I had begun to consider – I wasn’t getting any younger and wanted to settle down, have a family. Yes. Life with John could be good. My birthday was coming up and I was sure John would use the event to renew his proposal. This time I would say yes. He knew I loved surprises and would do something really romantic – a trip to Paris perhaps, or a weekend in a picturesque hotel in the Cotswolds. I couldn’t wait. As my birthday drew nearer, I had my hair cut, booked a manicure and shopped for a new dress. I wanted to look good in the photographs, after all. My birthday arrived. I got to the office early and was smiling broadly when John arrived with the largest bouquet of red roses I had ever seen. He was certainly pulling out all the stops. How sweet of him to make his proposal so public. Placing the flowers on my desk, John took my hand, pulling me towards his office. ‘Sal,’ he whispered ‘can you spare me five minutes?’ Carefully, John closed his office door and started fumbling in his pocket. He’d even bought the ring. I was tingling all over. He really was a lovely man. ‘Sal, I wanted you be the first to know.’ He sighed, showing me the ring nestled in the red velvet box. ‘I’m proposing to Miranda today.’ ‘Miranda?’ I squeaked, ‘Miranda in stationery? But… but… she’s only been here a few months.’ ‘I know, I know, Sal, but she’s gorgeous. We’ve been seeing each other, Sal. It’s love.’ I took a deep breath and stuck a smile on my face. ‘That’s wonderful, John. I’m really happy for you.’ Yes. John knew I loved surprises. He turned to leave, leaned over and patted my arm. ‘Wish me luck!’ he whispered. I held my breath and smiled. ‘Oh dear, John, your halitosis hasn’t improved,’ I whispered to his retreating back. I watched him practically skip down the office towards the stationery department. As he paused at my desk to whisk up the roses, a large black sock appeared at the bottom of one of his trouser legs, slithered over his shoe and settled on the carpet. Yuk. One of yesterday’s socks! I recalled John’s lack of attention to hygiene. He was a lovely man, but…well, good luck, Miranda! I smoothed my new hairdo with a freshly manicured hand and picked up my mobile. I would ring the Cotswold hotel and book myself in tonight for a luxury weekend. Don’t want to waste a new dress and hair-do on my birthday, now do I?

NEED YOUR
STUFF ON THE MOVE? Since Windows 8 was released in October 2012, it has received a disproportionate amount of criticism from those who didn’t like its ‘Tile’ or ‘Metro’ layout. People appeared to be unaware that under the surface was an interface very similar to Windows 7, with a speed improvement and reliability that was second to none. At the same time, the Windows tablet was released, and gradually it has created a massive fan base, especially when this is used in conjunction with Office 2013 and OneDrive. Onedrive is Microsoft’s cloud-based data storage facility, and it is so heavily integrated with Office and Windows 8 that is makes using it and accessing your data really simple. Once installed, OneDrive synchronises your data with your PC, laptop, phone, and tablet magically. And so you don’t have to worry about it, Microsoft has recently increased the limit of OneDrive storage to 1Tb so that it can handle most elements, be they videos, photos, spreadsheets or documents. To offer you much greater access to your data, we have a variety of Windows 8 tablets in stock, ranging from the 7” device for just £90.00 to the 10” device for £180.00, and they both include a one user copy of Office 2013, which is a real bargain. As these devices were designed for Windows 8, they are very fast and can handle even the largest of documents and videos. As they have a selection of connection ports, they can be connected to a keyboard, mouse, external display or TV, and have additional memory added. In short, they are truly versatile devices, so if you’d like to come in and try one, please feel free to call in.

GARDENING A T T E R S ’ve just been on holiday in Australia and I stopped off on the way back in Singapore to break the journey slightly. Whilst there, I visited the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and more specifically, the National Orchid Garden within it. What an amazing place… which I’m now going to bore you with. First, a little about the Gardens’ heritage.
The Singapore Botanic Gardens were established in 1859 by the Agri-Horticultural Society & designed by Lawrence Niven. His work reflected the English Garden style, as seen in numerous English landscape gardens and parks from the 18th century until that time. Today, his layout there is almost entirely intact still. Since their establishment, the Gardens have been a regional centre for plant science, research & conservation in South East Asia, and today, they’re internationally recognised as a leading institution of tropical botany and horticulture, and are the most visited botanic gardens in the world. In the 1920s, the Gardens led new techniques for raising orchids in sterile media & founded a regional orchid breeding & cut-flower industry. The National Orchid Garden is the product of this breeding programme which started in 1928. It offers a permanent showcase and the largest display of orchids in the world, containing over 1000 species and 2000 hybrids. Within the Gardens, there are several separate areas: - The VIP Orchid Garden, featuring orchid hybrids named after visiting state dignitaries & VIPS, such as Nelson Mandela. - The Celebrity Orchid Garden, where hybrids are named after celebrities, such as Andrea Bocelli, to commemorate their visit. - Tan Hoon Siang Mist House, where new cultivars,
some from the Gardens’ collection, are displayed against a backdrop of tropical foliage & cultural décor. - The Cool House, which encloses a tropical forest, providing a very realistic representation of high elevation sites in the tropics. - The Yuen-Peng McNeice Bromeliad Collection, featuring over 300 species and 500 hybrids of exotically unusual plants from Central and South America. One piece of interesting information was that orchids can be grown in almost any medium, not necessarily soil – dirt, gravel, bark, you name it – which, in theory, makes them very clean, easy plants to look after. Our problem in the UK is that we over-water them: they need very little water to survive & should certainly never be standing in it. The Garden also provides clear evidence that orchids need high humidity to thrive. Singapore is only 1° north of the Equator, with 90% humidity pretty much all year, and this garden is testament to that requirement. We were told that, to get the best from your orchid in the UK and elsewhere where humidity levels are negligible, the optimum place to grow them is in the bathroom, where the steamy conditions after a shower mimic their natural conditions. For anyone who appreciates orchids, the National Orchid Garden is an astonishingly beautiful place to visit. It’s open from 5.00am till midnight, too. That’s dedication for you…

BOOKHAM TENNIS CLUB
SPACE CELEBRATES
The loudest applause was for Aaron Malcolm, recognised as the club’s most improved junior player, while Stephen Parsons took the most improved adult award. The other 2014 competition winners were: Malcolm Cooper - Men’s singles champion & mixed doubles’ champion with partner Alison Gatford Sue Russell Jones – Ladies’ singles champion Keith Watson & Patrick Maddison – Men’s doubles Ladies’ doubles – Helen Cooper & Fiona Rees The winners of the American doubles’ “mash up” tournament were Chris Browning and Alison Gatford. The Club is looking for new members of all ages & levels of ability & has introduced free taster sessions on the first Sunday morning & Thurs evening of every month to welcome anyone interested.
The team of volunteers that manages the South Bookham SPACE is delighted that MVDC has just approved a 20 year lease extension for the community centre in Dorking Road. Over 500 people attend the 19 different activities taking place each week at South Bookham SPACE and Outer SPACE. In addition, 900 local residents attended 41 parties during 2014 at Space. To help continue this success, the team needs a marketing volunteer who should have use of a computer to help write pieces for the website & short articles for local publications etc. This is likely to take approx 2hrs a week from home.

he theft of bags and purses and mobiles from unsuspecting people whilst shopping is an ongoing issue which also affects residents of Mole Valley from time to time. The general presumption is that elderly ladies are the main targets for this type of crime. If this is your view, you would be wrong - everyone is a potential target. As a resident of Mole Valley myself, I regularly do my shopping in local stores and shops and, wearing my Crime Reduction Advisor’s hat, have researched the risks that I’ve seen on a fairly regular basis. The following are just some of my observations, built up over the past month when I have been out shopping with my wife and seen for myself how easy it is for the would-be thief to get some easy pickings. A gentleman walking down the aisle in a supermarket with his wallet protruding from the back pocket of his trousers is an ‘easy picking’, even for a bad thief. Even better for a thief, if the gentleman also keeps his mobile in a back pocket!! Two mums engrossed in conversation, their babies playing happily. Both of the mums I saw had their bags perched on top of their trolleys, open and with purses on full view. Yet another easy target. If they must leave their bags in the shopping trolley, I just wish that they were zipped up or closed properly, perhaps with the chain from the trolley wrapped around the strap several times as this would make it very difficult to steal without being noticed. Then I see an elderly lady struggling to reach a box of washing powder on the top shelf, but can’t see her bag. Where is it? I offer my help and get the washing
N O T I C E M O B I L E

powder down for her from the shelf. Then I see that she has her bag over her shoulder and close to her body with the clasp facing inwards. This is great to see as it would prove much too difficult for a thief to bother trying to steal, particularly when there are easier targets around. This got me imagining a scenario that could have occurred. One of the mums with her baby goes through the checkout with her shopping and finds that her bag has been stolen. Her purse was in the bag, so she has no means to pay. Then she goes to the car park to find that her car has been stolen because the keys were in her bag. She’s carrying her baby because the baby’s pushchair was in the car. She can’t call her friend to pick her up, because her mobile phone was in her bag, as was her address book. When she finally gets home, she can’t get in. Yes, you guessed it - her door keys were in her bag. I know that seems a bit extreme, but it could be a possible outcome if a bag is stolen. Add to this the inconvenience of stopping bank cards, contacting insurance companies and changing door locks and you can see then the importance of looking after your personal belongings when out and about. I hope that this gives some of you food for thought? Call 101 for all non-emergency policing matters. Call 999 if you have a genuine emergency requiring the attendance of the police (e.g. a crime is in progress or someone is in immediate danger). Call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you have info about crime & don’t want to leave your name.
