Welcome Hello and welcome to the latest issue of Rotana magazine. It is amazing to think that we are halfway through the year and summer is already upon us. And while the rising temperature means it can be difficult to explore all the natural wonders of the region, that does not mean that there is not a wealth of events and attractions for tourists to enjoy throughout the Middle East. In July, there is a final chance to visit Louvre Abu Dhabi and explore the exceptional exhibition ‘Photographs: An Early Album of the World’, while at Dubai Opera, the prominent Shanghai Opera House will take centre stage in September when they perform Puccini’s spectacular masterpiece ‘Turandot’. Also in September, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will return to Abu Dhabi as lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov takes on Dustin Poirier at The Arena on Yas Island. In fact, there are numerous facilities that are worth visiting in the summer months - which we take a closer look at on page 24 – whether it’s a theme park, museum or an ornate palace. For those visiting Abu Dhabi – where we opened our very first hotel back in 1993 – we encourage you to not only discover the many wonderful sites in the capital but also ensure you make time to indulge in some exceptional dishes and dining experiences. We are incredibly proud of our restaurants in the emirate, many of which combine gastronomic delights with scenic views such as FINZ at Beach Rotana and Turtle Bay Bar & Grill at Saadiyat Rotana Resort & Villas, where you can indulge in fresh seafood while enjoying the ambient surrounds. This time of year is also a great time to travel and discover fascinating cities that are full of character. On page 18, we delve into one of Jordan’s rising destinations, Amman, where spectacular ruins and traditional souks have been joined by modern malls. A truly intriguing city, I highly recommend heading to the Bohemian neighbourhood of Jabal Luwaibdeh with its colourful art galleries and funky cafés. Fortunately, I have had the pleasure of travelling to Amman on numerous occasions and this is an area that I always explore, the same of which can be said about the ancient Roman Theatre which is a must visit for anyone visiting the capital. CLARE NAPPER The Dubai-based artist on how the emirate inspires her creations After gaining a degree in graphic design, Clare Napper decided to pursue a career as an artist, initially working in the UK and New York. However, it was not until she moved to the UAE that her dreams became a reality. Starting off as head of design at Saatchi & Saatchi Dubai, the Brit eventually launched Highlife Dubai. Held on a beach in the tiny town of Scheveningen, thousands of tourists gather each year to watch this colourful and noisy festival. A serious competition with strict rules, participating countries have close to 15 minutes to display their firework prowess in what is a huge spectacle. In addition to the fireworks shows, there are also fire eaters, jugglers, musicians and dancers to entertain the crowds.

Running for 13 years, Way Out West is a music and film festival that regularly attracts thousands of international visitors. On top of the concerts, there will also be film premiers and a huge variety of vegetarian food for festival-goers to enjoy.
An iconic Melbourne event, the film festival is one of the oldest in the world and has been running since 1952. Held at various theatres across the city, the screening programme includes movies from local and international filmmakers, with the Best Short Film category the most prestigious. Learn about the country’s values and traditions One of the newest cultural landmarks in Abu Dhabi, this exquisite contemporary palace was built in traditional Arabian style and only opened to the public back in March. One of the most famous celebrations in Europe, this huge folk festival has attracted an average of six million visitors a year over the past decade. But it is not just about the food and drink, visitors can also enjoy colourful parades, a variety of fairground rides and admire those in traditional Bavarian clothing.

Freshly sourced every single day, the Atlantic salmon is cooked in a josper oven, which gives the fish an extra smoky taste and crispness. We serve it with celeriac puree and tomatoes but we are flexible, so if guests want to change the side dish, they have a range of options. But the sheer freshness of the salmon – which is also extremely healthy – makes this is a fantastic dish at any time of the day.
The big finish: Chocolate torte This is a true gem on our menu as who doesn't love a dish full of indulgent chocolate. Warmed in an oven and served with vanilla ice cream and dusted with icing sugar, the combination is absolutely mouthwatering and it is the perfect dish to finish your meal. The warmness of the chocolate and the chilled ice cream is just perfection.

THE PERFECT BLEND Enjoy a true Middle Eastern experience in the charming city of Amman where spectacular ruins and traditional souks have been joined by modern malls and buzzing cafés
T
here was a time when Amman was viewed as little more than a stop off point on the way to the more popular destinations of Petra, the Dead Sea and Wadi Rum. An almost forgotten city until it became Jordan’s capital in 1921, it has slowly evolved and developed a character of its own. Now the ever-expanding capital is full of old and new flavours that will ensure you are kept entertained across a weekend. While it cannot compete with the storied history of many of the Middle East’s most famous cities, Amman is full of charm, thanks to its traditional mosques and souks being joined
by modern art galleries, quaint cafés and sprawling malls. DAY ONE A must-visit for anyone travelling to the capital, the Roman Theatre is the most impressive remnant of ancient Philadelphia. Cut into the northern side of a hill and with the ability to seat around 6,000 people, it was built in the second century AD and once housed a statue of the goddess Athena (which is now in the Jordan Museum). Full restoration of the theatre began in 1957 and the reconstruction is impressively accurate. Concerts are even held during the summer months,
while the best time to visit is in the morning when the light is soft and the crowds have yet to appear. Another ancient site that continuously proves popular with visitors to the city is the Citadel. Sitting on the highest hill in Amman, Jebel Al Qala’a (about 850 metres above sea level is surrounded by a 1,700-metrelong wall and was occupied throughout the Bronze and Iron Ages. The most striking sites within the Citadel are the Temple of Hercules and the Ummayad Palace. The former was built by Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius and is home to two giant

standing pillars, while the latter is a series of structures that was believed to be an extensive complex of royal and residential buildings that was once home to the governor of Amman.

Many of the buildings were destroyed by an earthquake just 29 years after being constructed, but the remains are suitably impressive and provide a glimpse into what the city looked like more than 1,200 years ago. There is also a small archaeological museum in the city with a range of rare artefacts for those with an interest in the Islamic faith, as it is home to some 7,000 books, many of which are based on the teachings of Prophet Mohammed. DAY TWO Explore the modern side of the city by heading to Jabal Al Luweibdeh, a Bohemian neighbourhood that is home to funky cafés, street art and prominent art galleries. Here visitors will discover a complex of three villas that doubles as an exhibition space for Arab artists. This area of western Amman is also where visitors will discover modern shopping malls and buzzing bars, while the downtown area of the city is home to mosques, coffeehouses and huge souks where you can grab a bargain – especially if your haggling skills are up to par. Close to this area is The Jordan Museum, one of the best complexes of its kind in the Middle East. Housed in a modern and extremely grand building, there are a series of informative displays that tell the rich history of Jordan from the first people through the Nabataean civilisation to today.

Highlights here include Jordan’s share of the ancient Dead Sea Scrolls and the oldest-known human statues – the 9,500-year-old plaster mannequins of Ain Ghazal. There are also a host of remains from Petra and animal bones that date back 1.5 million years.
TRAVEL TIP Art lovers should make sure to visit Darat Al Funun where there are numerous exhibitions by Jordanian and other Arab artists along with lectures, film screenings and public forums.

Yet while the landscape of these cities has dramatically changed, one thing that has remained constant is the desire to preserve the culture and history of the region. This is apparent throughout the Middle East, with governments and leaders placing a specific focus on heritage and ensuring that visitors have the opportunity to learn more about the epic transformation that has taken place across the entire region.

Within the UAE there are numerous projects, some completed and others still being constructed, that tell the rich history of the country. These help to explain how a land that was once home to fishermen and pearl traders became a bustling metropolis that welcomes tens of millions of visitors from every corner of the world. In Dubai, Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood has been preserved to show what life was like in the emirates during the mid-19th century. There are traditional wind towers constructed from stone, palm wood and sandalwood, as well as small alleys and twisting paths that lead to Dubai Creek, where there was once a thriving pearling industry. Visitors to the area can discover art galleries, sample traditional food and take a glimpse at how Emiratis from past generations lived in the district. Housed inside the impressive Al Fahidi Fort, there are antiques such as weapons, pottery and rare maps as well galleries that recreate historic local houses, mosques, souks and date farms.

Along a similar vein, Dubai has recently opened the first phase of the Dubai Historical District project. This includes Al Shindagha Museum, which again focuses on the rich history of the UAE. There are innovative exhibitions and organised events, as well as specialised public learning programmes. Among the highlights in the new heritage museum are the Perfume House, which showcases centuries-old techniques, and Dubai Creek: Birth of a City which takes visitors through an immersive journey that encompasses artefacts and archival photography. Neighbouring Abu Dhabi has also invested heavily in order to preserve its culture. The oldest building in the emirate, Qasr Al Hosn, underwent 11 years of renovation work and has reopened as a museum, while a cultural district is being constructed on Saadiyat Island that will eventually be home to three unique complexes. Saadiyat Cultural District already houses Louvre Abu Dhabi, which will be joined by Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum in the coming years; the latter telling the story of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, his unification of the UAE, the history of the region and its cultural connections across the world. Al Jahili Fort has also been a cultural focal point since it was restored between 2007 and 2008. One of the largest forts in the country and built in the 1890s as a home for the ruling Al Nahyan family, it now houses a permanent exhibition devoted to Wilfred Thesiger

Saadiyat Cultural District already houses Louvre Abu Dhabi, which will be joined by Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Zayed National Museum in the coming years – the intrepid explorer and photographer who crossed the Empty Quarter desert in the 1940s. Similarly, Oman has placed a great emphasis on restoring its most famous structures, such as Nizwa Fort which was constructed in the 17th century and is now one of the most famous attractions in the country. Jabrin Fort has also been deftly-preserved and still boasts lavish decorations and hand-carved furniture that date back more than 300 years. Oman has also invested heavily in new facilities that help to showcase the country’s rich history that dates back thousands of years. The magnificent National Museum opened three years ago and features a vast collection of historical and contemporary Omani riches. The exhibitions are divided into 14 themed segments, covering everything from the first settlements more than two million years ago to modern society today. The Heritage gallery also showcases dances, songs and stories of the ancient country.
Perhaps the country most famous for its fascinating past, Egypt is also investing huge sums in order to showcase its history and attract visitors from around the world. Set to open next year, the Grand Egyptian Museum is being built at a cost of US$1 billion and will stretch across 50 hectares. Due to become the largest archaeological museum in the world, the facility will have more than 50,000 artefacts and will exhibit the full Tutankhamun collection – many of which will be on display for the very first time. In the last decade, another country that has undergone a huge transformation and is becoming more and more modern is Saudi Arabia. Yet, while the kingdom’s major cities are becoming global hubs, the leaders of the country are keen to ensure that its cultural credentials are also highlighted. The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage is working hard to build new museums and recently signed a deal with UNESCO to help repair the country’s five world heritage sites. In Riyadh alone, five new museums have been given the green light, meaning the total number of museums in the country is set to reach 50 in the coming years. Meanwhile, the kingdom plans to place further emphasis on Al-Ahsa oasis, which is home to 2.5 million date palms and contains gardens, canals and springs. The city itself dates back to 5,000 BCE while there is evidence of human settlements dating all the way back to 11,000 years ago. 3

Rain Room
For those seeking some respite from the summer sun, what could be better than strolling through the rain without the negative side-effect of getting extremely wet? The Rain Room at the Sharjah Art Foundation allows visitors to do just this. A permanent art installation by Random International, a studio set up by two Royal College of Arts graduates in 2005, the display uses motion sensors to detect peoples’ movements as they navigate through the darkened space. These 3D tracking cameras stop the water nozzles in the ceiling, creating a roughly six-foot radius that allows you to stay dry while experiencing a downpour all around you.

Housed within this four-storey bio-dome are more than 3,000 species of plants, animals and birds, including sloths, parrots, bats and even squirrel monkeys. Each level of the structure helps to explain the importance of the rainforest and is an experience for the senses with numerous birds and mammals moving freely around. There are 29 rides to enjoy, only two of which have height restrictions, with the showpiece experience being the Batman: Knight Flight, which allows guests to experience f lying in a Batwing vehicle. Qasr Al Hosn
The oldest building in Abu Dhabi and the most significant, Qasr Al Hosn was the city’s first permanent structure when it was built around 1790. DRESSED TO IMPRESS A decade on from his retirement, Valentino Garavani’s influence on his now iconic brand remains clear for all to see
V
alentino recently raised the curtain on its Resort 2020 collection in Rome’s Orto Botanico and it is every bit as exuberant as people have come to expect from the Italian luxury label. In keeping with the brand’s unique mix of drama and elegance, the pieces reflect the modern jetset lifestyle, ensuring those seen in the collection are the envy of the pack. While Rome’s stunning botanical gardens serve as the inspiration, with sweeping capes, plum skirts, sequin-embroidered jackets and Bermuda shorts showcased against the lush greens of this garden oasis, there were also several nods to founder Valentino Clemente Ludovico Garavani’s unparalleled sense of style. Proudly celebrated even today as one of the world’s most legendary fashion icons, Garavani made his humble beginnings in this glamorous industry at a very tender age. Born in the district of Lombardy in Northern Italy, the young Garavani would often be found attending the theatre and opera in order to purely catch a glimpse of the opulent costumes adorned by the stars of the show. “I was so enchanted by all those evening gowns, those sequins, those shiny things. Then I realised that my way was to do design,” declared Garavani in one of his earliest interviews. The influence of the theatre and the silver screen remained a constant in his numerous collections of evening gowns over the years, which became hugely popular among many Hollywood sirens. But it was in Paris that Garavani first pursued his interest in high fashion. Having

moved to the French capital at the age of 17, he wou ld go on to g raduate f rom t he prestigious École des Beaux-Arts and then from the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. Hoping to land an apprenticeship at Jacques Fath or Balenciaga, it was Jean Dessès that provided him with the opportunity to explore his creativity. Sketching furiously for years, Garavani’s ideas were displayed at an exhibition in Rome where they caught the eye of Marie-Hélène de Rothschild and Elizabeth Taylor – both of whom marvelled at the layers of white pleats and animal prints. Even before he would establish his brand, the DNA of Valentino was already apparent. Leav i ng on sour ter ms fol low i ng a disagreement over a prolonged vacation, Garavani would be rescued by his friend Guy Laroche. But after just a few years at the small fashion house, he would decide to leave Paris behind and return to Italy to set up his eponymous label with help from his parents. In 1960 in Rome, Valentino was born. However, times were tough and the first year was incredibly difficult for the visionary designer. Garavani’s luck would change just a year later, thanks to a chance meeting with Giancarlo Giammetti, an architecture student. The two would become fast friends and soon Giammetti left university in order to become a partner in the business. Ever since this moment, there has been no stopping the dynamic duo. A couture collection showcase at Pitti Palace in Florence became a defining moment for the house and the rest is history. Valentino soon became the go-to brand for the glitterati and during Garavani’s 45-year career, he

dressed more royals, major dignitaries, celebrities, first ladies and socialites than any other working designer. One of Garavani’s most influential clients was former First Lady Jacqueline KennedyOnassis, who was particularly taken with the designer’s style and wore Valentino almost exclusively during her public appearances. Valentino was also commissioned to design the now iconic dress for her wedding to Greek business magnate Aristotle Onassis. The house of Valentino has pioneered many other fashion firsts and introduced several new creations that remain statement pieces even today. In fact, one of the dresses in his very first collection resembled the colour of poppies, an iconic hue that in later years would come to be known as the brand’s trademark ‘Valentino red’. Expressing how his fascination with the colour began, he said: “I once saw a woman dressed in red velvet. Among all the colours worn by the other women, she looked unique, isolated in her splendour. I never forgot her. She became the red goddess. “Fabulous. I think that a woman dressed in red is always magnificent. She is the
perfect image of the heroine in the middle of a crowd. A red dress is more than a way of conveying something, it’s synonymous with style.” And so the most iconic Valentino pieces over the years have been rendered in this distinguishing colour, which he likes to call: “flashy but also very becoming”. The hue continues to remain popular for the brand and is not limited only to garments but also encompasses statement handbags and accessories. Having made the decision to retire in 2008, Garavani entrusted Pierpaolo Piccioli to uphold the legacy of Valentino - and that is to ensure that romantic femininity is always celebrated. As the Italian liked to declare: “I know what women want. They want to be beautiful.” These wise words have helped Piccioli to take Valentino in a direction that is loyal to the history of the acclaimed fashion house. The signature touches that caught the eye of Elizabeth Taylor all those years ago are there for all to see and the brand remains as popular as ever among the world’s most influential fashionistas.

t is no secret that the fashion industry is big business throughout the Middle East. People have long travelled to the region to make designer purchases, while Arab Fashion Week has progressively grown in stature and has now become an important event on the international calendar. With fashion shows regularly held in Dubai and with Saudi Arabia holding its first-ever runway event in Riyadh last year, the eyes of the fashion world are beginning to be drawn towards the Middle East. This has proved significant as an opportunity has arisen for designers from across the region to have their work seen by a far larger audience – and there are plenty who have taken full advantage. One of the most prominent figures to emerge in recent years is British-born Iranian designer Lilian Afshar. Having graduated in 2013 from Esmod fashion school in France, she lived in England, Spain and Canada before finally settling in the UAE. Within months of making the move to Dubai, her bug-adorned bags began to be featured in prominent style publications around the world.

With fashion shows regularly held in the region, the eyes of the fashion world are beginning to be drawn towards the Middle East Suddenly the brand she created straight out of university, L’Afshar, was beginning to create a buzz. Posting images of her latest creations on the popular social media platform Instagram again helped raise her profile even further. And before too long, some of the most influential figures in the world of entertainment were being pictured carrying Afshar’s creations. Fashion models Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner were both spotted carrying L’Afshar bags, while Jenner’s sister Kylie – who has more than 136 million followers on Instagram – was seen with a range of the brand’s accessories. Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor was pictured with the label’s Lineas clutch, while American singer-songwriter Alicia Keys carried the Pagoda bag to a pre-Grammys event last year.
Then, earlier this year, one of Afshar’s bags was pictured on the arm of one of the music industry’s biggest superstars, Beyoncé. Equally renowned for her sense of style, this helped to catapult L’Afshar to another dimension as now, every celebrity wanted to purchase one of the uniquely designed clutches. Having gained an influential following, Afshar has continued to expand her range, though her signature marble-style clutch bags, which not only come in a broad range of colours but can also be customised and personalised, remains the key focus. There are also a variety of unique textures, from croc-embossed leather to clear crystal-cut acrylic. Such has been the success of the brand that L’Afshar is now stocked at high-end boutiques and famous department stores as well as on e-commerce sites such as Net-a-Porter and Moda Operandi. However, Afshar is far from the only success story in the Middle East. In fact, one of the most in-demand designers in the world is an Emirati national who completed his military service in the UAE, established a label in London and dressed Lady Gaga in Los Angeles – and he did all of this in the space of just three years. At 29 years of age, Ahmed Alkhyeli is one of a new crop of designers whose roots are in the Arab world. Having grown up in Al Ain and studied architecture at the American University of Sharjah, the young Emirati chose to enter the world of couture and has quickly established a famous following. Having had to delay the launch of his brand, Khyeli, in order to complete his military service in 2016, Alkhyeli moved to London’s Knightsbridge and now has a showroom in Cavendish Square and a studio near Nottingham. And despite being a relative newcomer to the world of fashion, his designs have already garnered international recognition. Lady Gaga wore the label for her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in late February. Just a few weeks later, she stepped out in a black cape from the brand’s SS19 collection while attending an event in Los Angeles. Actress Lili Reinhart also donned a red tulle to the Golden Globes, while English Victoria’s Secret supermodel Leomie Anderson wore a pink taffeta with a cape to an AmFar dinner in New York. Renowned for designing both elegant and extravagant dresses, Alkhyeli uses voluminous amounts of taffeta, dupion and satin, and is proud that his creations often nod back to his Middle Eastern roots. Certainly, his creations have proved popular and relevant with stars in both the Arab and western world.

It is not just creatives from the UAE who are causing a stir in Hollywood, with the label Death by Dolls being worn by a host of A-list celebrities. The brainchild of London-raised Saudi Arabian designer Sara Al-Saud, the brand has a huge following in the Middle East and often features on prominent fashion blogs in the region. Thanks to a plethora of stars, Death by Dolls is becoming equally well known in the western hemisphere. Kendall Jenner appeared in a Chris Brown music video wearing a pair of the designer’s jeans, while Britney Spears wore a dress by Al-Saud when she announced she would be performing in Las Vegas. But once again, it was Beyoncé who perhaps did the most to raise the profile of the brand when she was pictured in a Halloween costume that paid tribute to American sprinter Florence Griffith Joyner. The outfit had been custom-made by Al-Saud and the images of the American singer wearing the creation were shared around the world. Alongside this talented trio are a host of young designers whose clothes are being worn by global superstars. Yousef Aljasmi from Kuwait has designed dresses exclusively for the Kardashian family, while Lebanon’s Lama Jouni has become a favourite of model and it-girl, Bella Hadid. Rotana outlines major expansion plans Nine hotels scheduled to open before the end of 2020 Johari Rotana

nderlining its drive for continuing expansion, Rotana has revealed plans to significantly increase its portfolio of worldclass hospitality offerings by opening nine hotels before the end of 2020. The company currently has an impressive inventory of 35 hotels in the UAE alone, while its worldwide operations total 64 hotels in 22 cities across 12 countries. additions to the brand in prime locations across the region as well as internationally, including debuts in new markets. Among the most highly anticipated upcoming openings in 2019 is the Johari Rotana in Tanzania. This spectacular fivestar hotel in Dar es Salaam will mark the company’s entry in the East African market. The 253-key hotel will include 193 luxurious hotel rooms and suites and 60 serviced hotel apartments spread across 24 floors is set to bring new levels of hospitality to Tanzania’s commercial capital. Also launching before the new year is Bosmal Arjaan by Rotana in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which marks Rotana’s debut in the country. Dammam will also see a new Dana Rayhaan by Rotana by the end of 2019. This new hotel will add 285 keys to the company’s inventory in Saudi Arabia, which currently consists of six hotels. Rotana’s expansion will continue in 2020 with the launch of Centro Corniche, Al Khobar, KSA (253 keys), Slemani Rotana, Sulaymaniyah, Iraq (240 keys), the company’s third hotel in Jordan, Centro Amman (200 keys), Al Jaddaf Rotana (338 keys), Cayan Cantara Arjaan by Rotana (329 keys), Cayan Cantara Residences by Rotana (489 keys) in Dubai. روتانا تكشف أبرز خططها التوسعية افتتاح تسعة فنادق جديدة قبل نهاية 2020 جوهري روتانا
أعلنت روتانا عن خطط لتوسيع محفظتها من خالل افتتاح تسعة فنادق جديدة قبل نهاية عام فندقا .2020تضم مجموعة فنادق الشركة 35 ً في دولة اإلمارات العربية المتحدة وحدها ، فندقا في 22مدينة في بينما تدير وتدير 64 ً 12دولة. ومن المتوقع أن يرتفع هذا الرقم إلى 75 فندقاً مع نهاية العام المقبل ،بفضل اإلضافات الجديدة من الفنادق في عدد من المواقع الرئيسية في جميع أنحاء المنطقة والعالم ،بما

في ذلك األسواق التي تدخلها الشركة ألول مرة. وي َعد فندق جوهري روتانا في تنزانيا من أكثر ُ الفنادق المرتقبة والتي من المقرر أن تفتتحها الشركة هذا العام ،حيث يشلك الفندق األنيق من فئة الخمس نجوم في دار السالم أولى خطوات الشركة في سوق شرق أفريقيا .ويضم الفندق 253غرفة تنقسم إلى 193غرفة وجناحاً فاخراً و 60شقة فندقية متاكملة الخدمات وموزعة على 24طابقاً ،ومن المنتظر أن يشلك الفندق إضافة نوعية ترتقي بقطاع الضيافة في العاصمة التجارية لتنزانيا. ما ستدخل روتانا العام الحالي وللمرة األولى في دولة جديدة أخرى ،وذلك مع افتتاح بوسمال أرجان من روتانا في البوسنة والهرسك. من المقرر أن يشهد نهاية العام الحالي افتتاح فندق دانا ريحان من روتانا في مدينة الدمام ،حيث سيضيف الفندق الجديد 285 غرفة إلى محفظة روتانا الفندقية في المملكة العربية السعودية ،والتي تتكون حالياً من ستة فنادق. تستمر خطط روتانا التوسعية خالل عام 2020مع افتتاح سبعة فنادق جديدة وهي الخ َبر ،المملكة العربية سنترو الكورنيشُ ، السعودية ( 253غرفة) ،وسليماني روتانا، السليمانية ،العراق ( 240غرفة) ،وفندق الشركة الثالث في األردن ،سنترو عمان ( 200غرفة) ،ولك ّ من فندق الجداف روتانا ( 338غرفة) ،وكيان اكنتارا أرجان من روتانا (غرفة )329وكيان اكنتارا رزيدنسز من روتانا (غرفة )489في دبي. وقال غاي هاتشينسون ،الرئيس التنفيذي باإلنابة لشركة روتانا“ :بفضل استمرار االرتفاع المطرد في أعداد الزوار إلى منطقة الشرق األوسط ،فنحن على ثقة بأن خطط نمو الشركة تمضي قدماً على المسار الصحيح .سنواصل استكشاف السبل والوجهات للتوسع في أسواق جديدة ،وذلك تماشياً مع استراتيجيتنا الطموحة لتطوير 46فندقاً جديداً في 28مدينة في الشرق األوسط وإفريقيا وأوروبا الشرقية وتركيا”.

عقدت شركة “داماك للفنادق والمنتجعات” اتفاقية شراكة مع شركة روتانا سيتم بموجبها تحويل برج “داماك تاورز” في الرياض ليدار تحت اسم “داماك تاورز أرجان من روتانا” .يضم البرج الواقع في قلب الرياض شقق فندقية فاخرة مجهزة من قبل عالمة “فندي اكزا” ،ويتكون المشروع من برجين للشقق الفندقية الفاخرة ومجموعة من شقق البنتهاوس.

العديد من المعجبين في الشرق األوسط كما تظهر في أهم مدونات الموضة بالمنطقة. وقد أصبحت العالمة التجارية “ديث باي دولز” معروفة في الدول الغربية بفضل العديد من المشاهير الذين يفضلون ارتدائها مثل مصممة األزياء كيندال جينر التي ارتدت سرواال من الجينز من تصميم سارة في فيديو موسيقي مع ً كريس براون ،والممثلة األمريكية الشهيرة بريتني سبيرز التي ارتدت فستاناً من تصميمها عندما أعلنت عن حفلها في الس فيغاس. ومرة أخرى تعود بيونسيه لتكون واجهة براقة لتصميمات سارة آل سعود عندما التقطت صورة لها في عيد الهالوين وهي في زي يحاكي الزي الرياضي الذي اكنت ترتديه العداءة األمريكية الراحلة فلورانس جريفيث تكريماً لها ،هذا الزي صممته سارة آل سعود خصيصاً لهذه المناسبة ،وتم تناقل صورة النجمة الشهيرة وهي ترتديه على شباكت التواصل االجتماعي في لك أنحاء العالم. وإلى جانب هذا الثالثي المتألق من المصممين ،برزت مجموعة من المبدعين الشباب الذين يرتدي تصميماتهم أهم مشاهير العالم ،مثل المصمم الكويتي يوسف الجسمي الذي يصمم مالبس خاصة لعائلة اكرداشيان ،وكذلك اللبنانية لمى جوني التي أصبحت المصممة المفضلة لدي عارضة األزياء بيال حديد. وسط هذا التألق والنجاح ،ومع التفات عالم الموضة اليوم بشلك أكبر لمصممي الشرق األوسط ،لن يمر وقت طويل قبل أن يظهر جيل جديد من المصممين الشباب الذين سيضعون بصماتهم اإلبداعية على أناقة وأزياء أهم مشاهير الموضة والفن في العالم.

بدأت أنظار المهتمين بصناعة األزياء في العالم تتجه نحو أشهر المصممين في الشرق األوسط ،ما يمثل فرصة تهيأت لمصممي األزياء بالمنطقة ليعرضوا تصميماتهم على جمهور أكبر اجتذبت تصميمات الفشار المبتكرة أشهر نجمات العالم مثل عارضتا األزياء بيال حديد وكيندال جينر اللتان ظهرتا تحمالن حقائب “الفشار” .كما ظهرت نجمة الواقع ،اكيلي جينر بمجموعة من اإلكسسوارات من تصميم أفشار ،وكذلك نجمة بوليوود الشهيرة سونام اكبور التي ظهرت في الصور وهي تحمل حقيبة الينيز من أفشار ،بينما ظهرت أليشيا اكيز ،المطربة واكتبة األغاني األمريكية ،وهي تحمل حقيبة “باجودا” خالل حفل توزيع جوائز جرامي الموسيقية العام الماضي .وأوائل العام الجاري التقطت صورة لبيونسيه ،أسطورة الموسيقى والغناء العالمية ،وهي تحمل على ذراعيها حقيبة من توقيع أفشار ،األمر الذي ساعد في نقل عالمة “الفشار” إلى ماكنة مرموقة خاصة بعد أن أصبحت لك شخصية مشهورة ترغب في اقتناء إحدى هذه الحقائب ذات التصميماتالمميزة.

ومع فوزها بقلوب المشاهير ،استمرت أفشار في توسيع مجموعتها ،مع التركيز دوماً على الحقائب الرخامية التي تتوفر في مجموعة كبيرة من األلوان ،والتي يمكن تعديلها حسب الرغبة الشخصية .كما قدمت حقائب مختلفة باستخدام جلود منوعة مثل جلد التمساح ،إضافة إلى الحقائب المصنوعة من األكريلك البلوري الشفاف المقطوع. هذا النجاح الذي حققته العالمة التجارية “الفشار” جعل حقائبها تمأل رفوف المتاجر الراقية ،وكذلك المواقع اإللكترونية الشهيرة مثل “نت بورتر” و“مودا أوبيراندي”. هناك قصص نجاح كثيرة لمصممين مثل ليليان أفشار في الشرق األوسط ،من أهمها قصة صعود المصمم اإلماراتي أحمد الخييلي ،أحد المصممين األكثر طلباً في العالم .أنهى الخييلي خدمته العسكرية في اإلمارات عام 2016لينتقل بعدها إلى لندن ليطلق عالمته التجارية الخاصة ،حيث ارتدت المغنية األمريكية ليدي غاغا فستاناً من تصميمه في لوس أنجلوس. ويعد الخييلي ( 29عاماً) أحد المصممين الصاعدين ُ ودرس الهندسة العرب ،حيث نشأ في مدينة العين َ المعمارية في الجامعة األمريكية في إمارة الشارقة واختار الشاب أن يقتحم عالم الخياطة الراقية وسرعان ما أصبح له معجبين من المشاهير. اضطر الخييلي لتأجيل إطالق عالمته التجارية حتى أتم خدمته العسكرية في 2016وبعد ذلك انتقل لإلقامة في منطقة نايتسبريدج في لندن ،ويمتلك حالياً معرضاً في ميدان اكفنديش ،واستوديو بالقرب من مدينة نوتنجهام، ومع أنه يعتبر وافداً جديداً إلى حد ما على عالم الموضة إال أن تصميماته نالت اعترافاً دولياً. ارتدت ليدي غاغا ثوباً من تصميم الخييلي عند ظهورها في برنامج “جيمي كيميل اليف” وفي أواخر فبراير ارتدت رداء ً “اكب” أسود بدون أكمام من تصميماته من مجموعة ربيع وصيف 2019لحضور مناسبة في لوس أنجلوس .كما ارتدت المغنية األمريكية ليلي راينهارت فستاناً من التول األحمر في حفل توزيع جوائز جولدن جلوب ،بينما تألقت عارضة األزياء اإلنجليزية الشهيرة ليومي أندرسون ،في فستان من قماش التفتا الزهري مع رداء بدون أكمام “ اكب” في حفل عشاء مؤسسة “أمفار” لماكفحة اإليدز الذي أقيم في نيويورك. يشتهر الخييلي بتصميماته األنيقة والرائعة ،ويستخدم كميات هائلة من اقمشة التفتا والساتان وأقمشة الحرير، ويفتخر بأن إبداعاته غالباً ما تعكس جذوره الشرق أوسطية .ومن المؤكد أن تصميماته المبتكرة القت رواجاً كبيراً وأثبتت ماكنتها لدى النجوم والمشاهير العرب واألجانب على حد سواء. لم يقتصر األمر على المصممين الذين يعيشون في اإلمارات العربية المتحدة ،والذين نجحوا في جذب انظار نجوم هوليوود ،إذ أن العالمة التجارية "ديث باي دولز" التي أبدعتها مصممة األزياء السعودية سارة آل سعود التي نشأت في لندن ،يرتديها اليوم العديد من المشاهير ولها

ال يخفى على أحد أن صناعة األزياء والموضة أصبحت تجارة كبيرة في دول منطقة الشرق األوسط ،وأصبح الباحثون عن الرقي والتميز يسافرون مسافات بعيدة ليقتنوا أزياء من توقيع مصممي أزياء من المنطقة ،في الوقت الذي اكتسب فيه أسبوع الموضة العربي ماكنة كبيرة أهلته ألن يصبح حدثاً بارزاً على أجندة الموضة العالمية. ومع تنظيم العديد من عروض األزياء التي ُتعرض في دبي وانطالق أول عرض لألزياء في الرياض العام الماضي، الذي نظمته الشركة العربية السعودية القابضة ،بدأت أنظار المهتمين بصناعة األزياء في العالم تتجه نحو أشهر المصممين في الشرق األوسط ،ما يمثل فرصة تهيأت لمصممي األزياء بالمنطقة ليعرضوا تصميماتهم على جمهور أكبر ،وهناك الكثير منهم بالفعل حققوا ماكسب كبيرة في المجال. ومن أهم المصممين الذين حققوا شهرة في السنوات األخيرة المصممة البريطانية (إيرانية المولد) ليليان أفشار التي تخرجت من مدرسة "إيسمود" لتصميم األزياء في باريس عام .2013عاشت أفشار فترات من حياتها في عدة مدن هي إنجلترا وإسبانيا وكندا قبل أن تستقر أخيراً في دبي .وفي غضون أشهر قليلة من إقامتها في دبي اكنت حقائبها المزخرفة بالخنافس والحشرات تنشر في أكبر مجالت الموضة العالمية. وأحدثت عالمتها التجارية “الفشار” التي أطلقتها بعد التخرج مباشرة ضجة واهتماماً كبيراً في أوساط الموضة، كما ساهم نشر صور تصميماتها من الحقائب على منصات التواصل االجتماعي في زيادة شهرتها ،ولم يمض وقت قصير حتى انتشرت صور ألهم مشاهير عالم السينما والترفيه وهم يحملون حقائب “الفشار”.

العائالت المالكة ،وكبار الشخصيات ،والمشاهير، وزوجات الرؤساء ،وسيدات المجتمع. واكنت السيدة األولى الراحلة جالكين كينيدي أوناسيس واحدة من أكثر زبائنه نفوذاً ،وقد اكنت الراحلة مأخوذة بتصميماته واسلوبه لدرجه أنها اختارت أن ترتدي تصميماته تقريباً في لك إطاللتها العامة ،كما لكفت فالنتينو بتصميم ثوب زفافها األسطوري على رجل األعمال اليوناني الشهير أرسطو أوناسيس. وقد انفردت دار أزياء فالنتينو بعدد كبير من الصيحات األشهر في الموضة ،كما قدمت عدة ابتاكرات في عالم الموضة الزالت رائجة ليومنا هذا ،بل أن أحد الفساتين التي قدمها في أوائل مسيرته واكن بلون زهرة الخشخاش حقق شهرة تاريخية لتصبح هذه الدرجة في السنوات التالية السمة األشهر لعالمة فالنتينو “أحمر فالنتينو”. وقد قال فالنتينو وهو يعبر عن انبهاره بهذا اللون“ :في أحدى المرات رأيت امرأة ترتدي فستان أحمراً مخملياً ،ومن بين لك األلوان التي ارتدتها النساء األخريات بدت متفردة بتلك الهالة التي خلقها اللون حولها ،ومن يومها لم أنسها ،بل أصبحت بمثابة آلهة اللون األحمر بالنسبة لي .رائعة تلك السيدة التي ترتدي فستان أحمر ،أنه شيء خيالي ،وأكنها صورة
للمرأة المثالية وسط الزحام ،فالفستان األحمر ال يعبر عن معنى معين وحسب ،بل أنه تعبير في حد ذاته وبأسلوب متفرد”. وهكذا توالى إصدار قطع فالنتينو األشهر على مدار األعوام التالية بهذا اللون األبرز ،والذي اكن يحب أن يقول عنه “مبهر جداً إال أنه دائم”، واستمرت الدار مشتهرة بهذه الدرجة من اللون األحمر لسنوات عديدة ،وأصبحت ال تقتصر على الفساتين فقط ،بل أصدرت الدار حقائب وأكسسوارات بنفس اللون. وبعد ان اتخذ فالنتينو قراره في عام 2008 بالتقاعد ،اختار فالنتينو بيير باولو بيتشولي ليتسلم الراية من بعده ويحافظ على تاريخ الدار ،وليضمن أن التركيز سيكون دائماً على إبراز الرومانسية الاكمنة في األنوثة ،فدائماً ما تباهى قائال“ :أعلم ما الذي تريده المرأة، الرجل اإليطالي ً إنها تريد أن تكون األجمل”. واكنت تلك اللكمات الحكيمة هي الدرب الذي سلكه بيتشولي محافظاً على المسار الذي سلكته دار األزياء العريقة على مدار تاريخها، بلمسة فالنتينو المميزة التي أسرت قلب النجمة إليزابيث تايلور طوال تلك السنوات وخطفت أنظار الجميع ،ولتبقى فالنتينو دار األزياء األبرز في العالم بين لك دور األزياء العالمية.

عنوان األناقة مر عقد على تركه المجال االحترافي ،ولكن تأثير فالنتينو غارافاني يبقى طاغياً على عالمته التجارية األيقونية
أزاحت دار أزياء فالنتينو الستار مؤخراً عن مجموعتها “ريزورت ”2020وذلك في الحديقة النباتية “أورتو بوتانيكو” بروما ،والتي جاءت متماشية مع اآلمال العريضة وثقة المتابعين إلبداعات وصيحات هذا االسم اإليطالي الفاخر في عالم األزياء .وتماشياً مع طابع الدار الذي يمزج بين الدراما واألناقة ،جاءت قطع المجموعة احتفاء بأسلوب الحياة العصري المنطلق ،واكنت ً مثار استحسان وغبطة القائمين على صناعة الموضة. وبما أن هذه المجموعة مستوحاه من حدائق روما بنباتاتها المذهلة فقد عرضت الاكبات المنسدلة ،والتنانير الضيقة ،والمعاطف المطرزة بالخرز ،والشورتات وسط الخضرة اليانعة في حديقة غناء تشبه الواحة .واستمر االحتفاء بلمسة مؤسس الدار ،فالنتينو لكيمنتي لودوفيكو غارافاني ،األنيقة التي ال مثيل لها طوال العرض. خطى غارافاني الذي الزال يحتفظ بشهرته العالمية أكحد أبرز األسماء الالمعة في عالم الموضة ،أولى خطواته في هذه الصناعة الساحرة في سن مبكرة جداً .ولد غارافاني في لومبارديا شمال إيطاليا ،واكن يواظب على الذهاب إلى المسرح واألوبرا فقط ليلقي نظرة فاحصة على األزياء المبهرة التي يرتديها نجوم تلك العروض .وقد قال غارافاني في أحدى المقابالت التي أجراها في بداية مسيرته“ :كنت مفتوناً بهذا الكم من فساتين السهرة ،والترتر، ولك تلك األشياء الالمعة ،ثم أدركت وقتها أن تصميم األزياء هو طريقي الذي سأسلكها”. استمر تأثر فالنتينو بالمسرح والشاشة الكبيرة وظل هذا واضحاً لسنوات عديدة في عدد كبير من مجموعاته ،واكن هذا هو سبب ارتقاء تصميماته لتصل لنجوم الصفوف األولى في هوليود ،ولكن غارافاني لم يقتحم عالم األزياء الراقية إال بانتقاله إلى باريس ،حيث انتقل

إلى العاصمة الفرنسية بعمر 17عاماً ،ليلتحق بعدها بمدرسة الفنون الجميلة العليا الفرنسية الشهيرة ،ثم مدرسة شامبر سيندياكل دو ال كوتور باريزيين. وبينما اكن يتمنى أن يحصل على منحة تدريبية لدى جاك فايث أو بالنسياغا ،منحه جين ديسيه الفرصة الحقيقية ليكتشف الطاقات اإلبداعية الاكمنة داخله .وعكف غارافاني على رسوماته ألعوام عديدة ثم افتتح بعدها معرضه في روما ،حيث جذب إليه أنظار ماري هيلين دو روتشيلد وإليزابيث تايلور ،الالتي سحرتهما الطيات البيضاء ورسومات الحيوانات .وهكذا ظهرت بصمة فالنتينو الشخصية حتى قبل أن يلمع اسمه في عالم الموضة. غادر غارافاني بعد اتفاق مجحف أثر خالف نشب بسبب إجازة مطولة ،لينقذه صديقه جاي الروش ويأخذه للعمل معه ،لكن ما لبث غارافاني وأن غادر بعدها دار األزياء الصغيرة في باريس ليعود إلى موطنه في إيطاليا ويطلق عالمته التجارية باسمه وبمساعدة والديه ،وهكذا وفي عام 1960في روما ظهرت فالنتينو للنور، سهال ،بل اكنت السنوات ومع ذلك لم يكن األمر ً األولى شاقة على المصمم الحالم .ولكن تبدلت األمور لألفضل بعد عام واحد بسبب تلك المقابلة التي حدثت بالصدفة بينه وبين طالب اكن يدرس الهندسة المعمارية ،هو جيان اكرلو جياميتي. سرعان ما أصبح األثنان صديقان مقربان، وترك جياميتي الجامعة ليشارك غارافاني في العمل ،ومنذ تلك اللحظة لم يستطع أي شيء أن يقف في وجه هذا الثنائي النشيط .وأصبحت المجموعة التي قدموها في قصر بيتي بفلورنسا أيقونة في تاريخ الدار لتصبح فالنتينو بعدها العالمة المسجلة للمشاهير وتتربع على عرش الموضة طوال 45عاماً هي عمر مسيرة فالنتينو ،فهو أكثر مصمم تهافت عليه أفراد

تجربة ممتعة للهروب من حرارة الصيف .هل تخيلت نفسك تتجول بلك أريحية تحت وابل من المطر من دون أن تبتل؟ هكذا هي “الغرفة الماطرة” .عمل فني دائم من ابتاكر راندوم إنترناشونال التي نفذته تحت إشراف مؤسسة الشارقة للفنون .وهذا العمل من إبداع استوديو فني أسسه خريجان من اللكية الملكية للفنون في لندن عام .2005وتعتمد التجربة على تشغيل أجهزة االستشعار الحركي التي توقف هطول األمطار عند اكتشاف أي حركة فوق أرضية المساحة المعتمة .عندئذ ،تقوم تلك المستشعرات البصرية ثالثية األبعاد بوقف تدفق المياه من السقف وتصنع مساحة قطرها ستة أقدام تتيح لك اللجوء إليها بعيداً عن البلل، بينما يستمر هطول األمطار من حولك.

سلسلة مميزة من األفالم التي يقدمها برنامج جامعة نيويورك أبوظبي للسينما واإلعالم الجديد بالشراكة مع مركز الفنون بجامعة باريس السوربون أبوظبي .ومن األفالم التي تم عرضها “هيدي” للمخرج محمد بن عطية و“واجب” آلن ماري جاسير. ويعقب عرض األفالم جلسات نقاش بين الجمهور والكتاب والمخرجين. مع تزايد الطلب على اإلنتاج المستقل وتنامي أعداد الجمهور المهتم بسينما اآلرت هاوس ،ليس من المستغرب أن تبزغ شمس صناعة األفالم اإلماراتية .فقد حقق فيلم طارق الاكظم “حاكية من الظالل” نجاحاً في العام الماضي ،وعرض في العديد من المهرجانات السينمائية العالمية ،في حين قامت شركة أيه جي سي العالمية في هذا العام بشراء حقوق الفيلم اإلماراتي الكوميدي “راشد ورجب” خالل مهرجان اكن السينمائي بفرنسا .وهو ما يعني أن الفيلم الذي أخرجه محمد سعيد حارب سيعرض في أنحاء العالم من خالل موزعين متنوعين. كما يسهم مهرجان دبي السينمائي ومعه مهرجان أبوظبي في التعريف بصناعة السينما الوطنية من خالل إتاحة الفرصة أمام عرض المزيد من أفالم اإلنتاج المستقل .لذلك لن يمر وقت طويل قبل أن تتزايد أعداد دور عرض سينما اآلرت هاوس في عموم البالد ،مع بوادر نضج الصناعة السينمائية في اإلمارات العربية المتحدة. 5

يحكي قصة مخرج شاب يعاني أزمة وجودية .كما عرضت سينما عقيل أفالم يابانية ،من أهمها فيلم الرسوم المتحركة “األميرة مونونوكي” للمخرج هاياو ميازاكي ،وكذلك فيلمه األشهر “المخطوفة”. وتواصل “سينما عقيل” إقامة فعالياتها في عموم اإلمارات العربية المتحدة ،مع التركيز على عروضها في حي التصميم بدبي ومنارة السعديات في أبوظبي .وتشهد العروض حضوراً الفتاً من جمهور هذه النوعية ذات الصبغة الثقافية ،خاصة وأن االختيارات تتنوع لجهة دول اإلنتاج والمخرجين العالميين. وهناك ،في منارة السعديات بأبوظبي ،يقيم محمد خواجة عروضاً لألفالم النادرة وذات القيمة الفنية من خالل منصة “سينما سبيس” التي أقامها عام ،2014ليعرض األفالم العالمية المعاصرة وتلك اللكاسيكية التي خضعت للترميم والتحويل لنسخ رقمية ذات جودة .ودخول تلك العروض مجاني للجمهور. لهذه السينما برنامج متنوع؛ فتعرض إنتاجات عالمية تستكشف قصصاً وقضايا رائعة في العالم من حولنا ،باإلضافة إلى لكاسيكيات وصلت إلينا بفضل مجهودات فن ترميم الشريط السينمائي .هناك أيضا عروض على مدار العام ،تسلط الضوء على أفالم من مناطق ودول بعينها ،سواء اكنت السويد أو ألمانيا أو اليابان أو كوريا .ال زلنا في جزيرة السعديات ،حيث تتعاون جامعتان من أهم جامعات العاصمة منذ أواخر العام 2018في عرض األفالم العربية المعاصرة .تعرض “سينمانا”

بعرض تلك األفالم ،ولكن الحال تغير في اآلونة األخيرة ،مع افتتاح عدد من دور العرض المتخصصة في عرض هذه األفالم وإبرازها والترويج لها. بثينة اكظم شابة إماراتية بدأت مشروع “سينما عقيل” الثقافي في السراكل أفنيو بدبي ،عام .2014وسينما عقيل تعنى بالسينما المستقلة وتهدف إلى تقديم األفالم المتميزة من حول العالم للجمهور في دبي .واكنت بداية الفكرة من خالل إقامة منصات عرض سينمائي مؤقتة متنقلة تجوب أنحاء اإلمارات ،إلى أن استقر بها المطاف في منطقة القوز حالياً. فكرة “سينما عقيل” على البساطة في العرض السينمائي؛ إضاءة خافتة ومجموعة من المقاعد الهوائية الوثيرة ،في بساطة تتناقض تماماً مع الحال في دور السينما الفخمة الفاخرة في بقية أنحاء المدينة ،ولكنها تتالءم وطبيعة هذه الصناعة المستقلةالبديلة. وتسعى “سينما عقيل” إلى مواكبة الطلب المتنامي على هذه النوع من التجارب السينمائية من خالل إتاحة الفرصة لعرض األفالم المستقلة ذات الجودة على اختالف خلفياتها وزمن إنتاجها ،مع االهتمام بعرض أحدث إنتاج للشراكت المستقلة والتعريف بالمخرجين السينمائيين الواعدين من جميع أنحاء العالم .وفي األشهر األخيرة ،أبرزت سينما عقيل أعمال المخرج المصري أحمد عبدالله ،وخاصة فيلمه األخير "ليل/خارجي" ،الذي

إضاءة.. اكميرا ..أكشن تمثل دور سينما اآلرت هاوس في اإلمارات متنفساً لعشاق الصناعة السينمائية وثقافة األفالم المستقلة ذات الصبغة الثقافية الفنية اإلمارات العربية المتحدة مغرمة بالسينما ،وهذه حقيقة ال ريب فيها .وخالل األعوام الماضية ،اكنت الوجهات السياحية والطبيعية في البالد مسرحاً إلنتاج العديد من األفالم الشهيرة ذات الميزانيات الهائلة باختيار من مخرجيها؛ “مهمة مستحيلة” ،الجزء السابع من سلسلة “سريع وغاضب” ،والجزء السابع من أفالم “حروب النجوم” ،جميعها صورت مشاهد منها في دبي وأبوظبي. ومن جانبها ،تدير مجموعة “فوكس” قرابة المائتي دار سينما في أنحاء اإلمارات العربية المتحدة ،ويحظى مول دبي بست وعشرين شاشة منها .األمر الذي يلبي رغبات جمهور السينما المتنامي في اإلمارات في متابعة أحدث إنتاج للك من هوليوود وبوليوود على حد سواء. في المقابل ،هناك جمهور يعتد به حالياً في اإلمارات العربية المتحدة ،يميل أكثر إلى السينما ذات الصبغة الفنية والثقافية والتي تطغى على االعتبارات التجارية األخرى ،وهو يستمتع بإنتاج هذه المدرسة ذات الطابع المستقل ،والتي بطبيعتها ال تحظى بالترويج الاكفي مقارنة بأفالم البوكس أوفس واألفالم التجارية األخرى .واكن جمهور هذه السينما المستقلة (سينما اآلرت هاوس) يعاني في السابق من محدودية دور العرض التي تهتم

أفضل الفنادق
متراً .واكنت القلعة مأهولة طوال العصرين البرونزي والحديدي. الفتة آثار ٍ يضم الجبل عدة ٍ أخرى؛ مثل معبد هرقل والقصر األموي .وقد بني المعبد في عصر اإلمبراطور الروماني ماركوس أوريليوس ،وعند واجهته تنتصب ستة أعمدة ضخمة .أما القصر األموي فهو مكون من عدة بنايات تحيط بالقاعة الرئيسية حيث اكن يقيم حاكم عمان في ذلك العصر. ّ لحق الدمار بأغلب مباني الجبل، إثر زلزال وقع عقب 29عاماً فقط من بنائها ،على أن األطالل لم تفقد بهاءها وال تزال تزود الزائرين بلمحات عما اكنت عليه المدينة منذ 1200عام .كما يوجد بالمنطقة متحف يضم العديد من المقتنيات النادرة.

مزيج الحضارات تجربة شرق أوسطية خالصة في العاصمة األردنية عمان ،حيث األطالل األثرية واألسواق ّ الشعبية تقف جنباً إلى جنب مع المراكز التجارية الحديثة والمقاهي العصرية اكنت عمان منذ أمد غير بعيد ّ تعتبر مجرد استراحة على الطريق إلى وجهات سياحية أكثر جاذبية وشعبية؛ من قبيل البتراء والبحر الميت ووادي رم .ولكن المدينة التي لم تصبح عاصمة للمملكة ً األردنية إال عام 1921تطورت وتنامت شيئاً فشيئاً ،حتى اكتسبت شخصيتها المتفردة، ذات األلق األخاذ. اليوم ،تتنوع في العاصمة الواعدة الوجهات السياحية، قديمها األصيل وجديدها العصري، لتثري تجربة زائر المدينة في أي عطلة قصيرة .وفي حين ال تعتبر العاصمة ضمن حيز المناطق األثرية وال تمتلك تلك المسحة التاريخية الحاضرة بقوة في مجموعة من أشهر مدن الشرق األوسط ،إال أن عمان لكها سحر؛ بفضل ما تحتضنه ّ

مهرجان منتصف الخريف 13سبتمبر • الصين
مهرجان منتصف الخريف في الصين يعتبر احتفاال للحصاد يعطي لمحة مشرقة عن تاريخ ً الصين ،ويرجع تاريخ االحتفال به إلى حكم أسرة تشو قبل 3000عام حيث اكنوا يحتفلون بموسم جني األرز والقمح .وفي الوقت الحالي أصبح المهرجان فرصة اللتقاء األصدقاء واألسرة كداللة على االنسجام والوحدة بينهم .ويميز االحتفال رقصات التنين وإشعال الفوانيس البراقة والجلوس باسترخاء وهدوء لتناول كعكة القمر التي ترمز لجمع شمل األسرة.
