Welcome Letter
Recreation & Restoration By land and sea, Panama City Beach will refresh you
A small boy, perhaps from the interior of North Carolina or the suburbs of Atlanta, disembarks the 200-foot SkyWheel on Panama City Beach, rushes toward his grandparents with his eyes wide open and his arms outstretched, and fairly shouts, “I SAW A LOT OF WATER.” The child has gained a new appreciation for the vastness of the Gulf of Mexico. To him, it appears infinite. The boy’s experience aboard the giant Ferris wheel was for him like that trip aboard a Blue Origin spacecraft was for William Shatner. He’s got a new perspective on the world and the Gulf has made upon him an impression that will prove indelible. Our fascination with the Gulf and her beaches is undying. Her rhythms are our rhythms. It should be little wonder then that Gulf waters were once believed to have healing qualities capable of curing most ills. Still, we turn to the Gulf for restoration in addition to recreation. Try to hold your third-quarter financials in your mind while riding an emerald wave toward white sand. You won’t be able to do it.
PHOTO BY GAWRILOFF / ISTOCK / GETTY IMAGES PLUS
A vacation on Panama City Beach is a great refresher course, and we’re glad you’re here. We’ve evolved over the years. Decades ago, condos began to displace cottages and mom-and-pop motels. We’re bigger and better. We’re not synonymous with Spring Break like we once were. Instead, we’ve become a destination that never rests, one with no blank pages on our annual events calendar. Attractions, distractions and dining options have all proliferated. We invite you to renew a tradition with a round of Goofy Golf or a grilled scamp dinner at Captain
Anderson’s Restaurant while also exploring all that is new between Camp Helen and St. Andrews State Park. Just don’t get so busy that you fail to connect with the Gulf. It transmits a special energy that you will carry with you all the way back home.

Firefly’s New Chef Brings the Best to the Gulf Coast STORY COURTESY OF RESORT COLLECTION PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF FIREFLY
P
atrons would be hard-pressed to find another restaurant in Panama City Beach with the same ambiance and dining experience of Firefly. Its motto is “casual fine dining,” but Firefly really is more than that. With the addition of the sushi bar and multiple private dining rooms, the restaurant brings something for everyone to the table. An evening in the main dining room underneath a beautiful, sprawling tree — complete with glistening lights and twinkling “fire-flies” in its branches — will make you fall in love with more than the delicious cuisine. Whether you’re looking for the perfect romantic date destination, a fun night out with friends or family, or a private space to hold your next meeting or event, Firefly has something for everyone. It’s no wonder that Firefly is an eighttime Florida Trend Golden Spoon Award winner, has won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 12 years running, and has been included in OpenTable.com’s “100 Most Romantic Restaurants” and Urbanspoon.com’s “Top 250 High-End Restaurants in the World.” In November of 2019, Firefly welcomed executive chef Rob Burgess to its kitchen. Having studied

and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu culinary school, his credentials and background speak for themselves. Being at a neighboring restaurant in Panama City Beach for seven years, joining the team at Firefly was a seamless transition. “I’ve always had tremendous respect for Dave and Firefly,” Burgess stated. “So when the stars finally aligned, I couldn’t pass up the chance to jump on board.” When asked about the decision to hire Chef Rob, Firefly owner Dave Trepanier said he was the obvious choice. “I’ve been wanting to work with Rob for a long time,” he shared. “I’ve known what
a great chef he is, and he has the best work ethic — always the first guy in in the morning and the last to leave at night. Rob is an outstanding chef, plus he’s a neat freak and particularly into cleanliness. He’s just one of those guys that if you get an opportunity to work with, you’ve just got to do it.” From South Carolina, Burgess grew up on a small farm with his parents. “We raised horses, chickens, ducks — you name it we had it,” he shared. “Growing up, my mom was always in the kitchen. We always had a home-cooked meal every night. After high school when I wasn’t sure what I wanted

to do and left a nearby university after three years, it was natural to start cooking and go from there.” Trepanier, attributes the success of his restaurant since it opened in 2007 to many things. “It’s easy to say the food makes Firefly special, but it really is so much more than that,” he says. “It’s the whole experience — the service, the atmosphere and the attention to detail.” When asked about new dishes that can be expected to see on the menu, he credits the customers to the mix of food items. “Coming over to Firefly, there is a little different clientele,” Burgess said. “They are definitely much more adventurous eaters, which is very exciting for me. We will be implementing a few new sushi rolls to keep that fresh and lively, and some exciting
items to the main menu. I like variety — which the Firefly menu is already full of. You can find seafood, pasta, sushi and steaks without it being cumbersome. I absolutely love cooking Italian food, but I do like variety. Keeping it fresh and not keeping it mundane is key.” Like many other local businesses in Panama City Beach, Firefly was unfortunately damaged when Hurricane Michael made landfall in October of 2018. It was a devastating time for the famed restaurant, but Trepanier says it was the unknown that was the hardest part. “Not knowing when you can get a roofer to start, how is insurance going to work, and most importantly, how is my staff?” he explained. “There was zero communication for so long that I didn’t know who was safe, who lost their homes or who left the area. It was a very scary couple of weeks.” The unfathomable wake of Hurricane Michael didn’t cause any hindrance on the excellent service, staff or cuisine you’d find at Firefly. “I have a great chef and great management,” Trepanier proclaimed. “We do our best to train them right and bring our team up to our standards to ensure our quality. At the end of the day, we just try to put good people on the floor and give our customers the best experience when they enter our doors.” The 535 Library Lounge remains to be the perfect spot to cozy up with good friends and enjoy a drink while waiting for your table, or just catch up on the

events of the week. The Firefly Bar has HD screens for watching the big game, and it’s a great place for grabbing an appetizer or enjoying a full meal in a more casual setting. The sushi bar serves creative, delicious handmade rolls that are sure to impress. Combine all these elements with a diverse menu and over 200 wines, and it’s easy to see why Firefly has become a favorite dining destination for both Panama City Beach locals and visitors. Patrons can visit FireflyPCB.com to find Firefly’s Sunset Special menu, happy hour specials such as Tini Tuesdays, and weekly chef ’s specials. Visitors to the site can explore all that Firefly has to offer, browse the restaurant’s menus and make reservations online — as the dining room is often full. Any occasion is the perfect one for a visit to Firefly in Panama City Beach. From the moment you pass through the wooden front doors, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into a cozy hideaway that has an air of je ne sais quoi — it’s difficult to pinpoint why, but you just know you’ve found someplace special. Chef Rob certainly feels like he has. “It is an honor to be the chef at Firefly,” he said. “We have a great team here, and we all work very well together. It is a pretty close-nit family. It’s nice to be able to come and enjoy being around the people you work with.” Reservations are not required but strongly encouraged. Dress is casual. Milkshake WARS
PCB's finest, most outlandish milkshakes will soothe your craving for sweetness
THE YARD MILKSHAKE BAR
STORY BY LIESEL SCHMIDT, COURTESY OF VISIT PANAMA CITY BEACH
S
hakes are, by definition, the perfect hybrid of ice cream and milk: a creamy, frozen and frosty glimpse of heaven transported via straw. And depending on where you’re ordering — and what you’re ordering — modern-day milkshakes can make those dinky plastic-lidded cups passed across the counters of so many chain eateries quiver in fear. Whether you’re a purist who prefers the classic trifecta of flavors or you’re a creative who loves to blend outside the lines, there’s a shake with your name on it. But we must warn you — you might find that most of these Panama City Beach milkshakes rest well outside the domain of a straw. You might very well need a spoon or a fork.
That’s the mission and the reason for the 28 shake flavors gracing the menu at The Yard Milkshake Bar, a gourmet shake shop where the sole focus is, you guessed it, milkshakes. And while their mixologists might have predesigned shakes down cold, their extensive list of 50 insane and gravity-defying toppings — such as chocolate-dipped bacon, a waffle, a slice of cheesecake, a doughnut, an entire cupcake, as well as nine types of cookie dough (made in-house) — mean that their 28 base flavors of premium Hershey’s ice creams can be combined into customized shakes so numerous that they would give a statistician pause. Served up in massive Mason jars printed with The Yard’s logo, every shake is an experience you’ll remember by way of the souvenir vessel you get to take home — but
those flavors will doubtless be something you’ll never forget. Since opening the Panama City Beach location in early 2018, owners Logan and Chelsea Green have taken their Orange Beach, Alabama-based concept to take a new area by storm. They boast signatures such as “The Unicorn,” with its enchanted purpleand-white sweet cream ice cream swirled with sweet and sour cherry and blue raspberry rainbows bedazzled with star-colored lemon flakes, blended thick and served in a marshmallow cream-dipped jar adorned with rainbow-colored sprinkles, whipped cream, clouds of cotton candy, a sour rainbow and a sugar cone “unicorn” horn. Or maybe you’re in the mood for the “Cookie Dough
The Yard’s milkshakes incorporate hearty toppings, such as king cake, a waffle, cotton candy or an entire cupcake.
Delicious,” an explosion of cookie dough ice cream served in a jar rimmed with chocolate icing topped with a mountain of chocolate chips, whipped cream and a colossal scoop of edible cookie dough. The shakes at The Yard are anything but ordinary. And if you’re familiar with the pop charts of the early 2000s, you’ll appreciate the name, as their milkshakes most certainly do bring all the boys (and girls) to The Yard. 15801 L.C Hilton Jr. Drive #110, (850) 708-3226, TheYardMilkshakeBar.com.
Off-the-wall is the name of the game at Gulf Coast Burger Co., whether you’re talking creative burgers that push the limit or milkshakes so weird and colorful you’ll wonder who comes up with these things. The brainchild of Justin Greene and Dustin Kelly, Gulf Coast Burger’s shakes shake up the dessert scene with flavors such as the sugar-packed “Sugar Rush,” a vanilla base loaded with Fruity Pebbles and festooned with an enormous lollypop, some Nerds Rope, Airhead Extremes and cotton candy … then topped with a cherry. Love a Reese’s peanut butter cup? Order the peanut-butter-chip-and-Reese’s-cups packed “Peanut Butter shake,” which is topped with a smattering of Cracker Jacks. For cookie monsters, the “Cookies & Cream” offers up a shake thick with cookie crumbles garnished with not one but two oversized cookies and a chocolate drizzle. Since opening in the fall of 2017, Gulf Coast Burger Co. has defined itself as a burger and shake shack on steroids. They’re so big and bold, their creamy concoctions of craziness are known as Cat-5 Shakes. And while you can certainly order a classic shake reminiscent of an old-time soda fountain, the fun twists they put on their shakes likely will tempt you to the dark side —their spiked shakes make this kid-like indulgence anything but child’s play. 10031 Hutchison Blvd, (850) 775-1312, Gcburgerco.com.
If you’re looking for scratch-made ice cream to shake up your day, Marble Slab Creamery has your number. From favorites like Cookies ’n Cream, Cookie Dough, Strawberry Shortcake, Cotton Candy, Snickers and Coffee, Marble Slab starts with a base of their freshly churned, small-batch ice cream to create a shake worth busting your diet for, offering your choice of additional mixins from more than 65 options of fruits, nuts, candies, sauces and cakes. opening in 2012, Marble Slab’s PCB location has been chillin’, and owner Vic Patel has kept his team of creamers creating everything from shakes and smoothies to sundaes and ice cream cakes that pair perfectly with Great American Cookie Co.’s fresh-baked selection of cookies, cookie cakes and brownies. Served up with a stunning display of garnishes and toppings, these massive shakes might not give you brain freeze, but they’ll certainly freeze you in place with an array of flavors and colors. 9956 Hutchison Blvd, (850) 234-9999, MarbleSlab.com.
There are, of course, the steadfast shake-makers who stand not on the strength of odd-ball mix-ins and gargantuan garnishes, but on the simplicity of their oldfashioned formula: milk plus ice cream. That traditionalist method still appeals, as one can easily see from the happy faces of those enjoying a shake from Thomas Donut & Snack Shop. Using a base of premium vanilla bean ice cream to make their vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cherry, butterscotch, peanut butter or caramel shakes, Thomas widens their menu of flavors with their ability to create shakes or malts from any of the 36 varieties of premium quality ice creams, frozen yogurt, sorbets and sherbets they serve in the shop. Originally just focusing on its namesakes when it opened in 1971, Thomas Donut & Snack Shop expanded its offerings in 2015, building the ice cream shop that gave even greater appeal to an already flourishing family-owned business. Since then, this crew has handily proven that “old-fashioned” is definitely still in style. 19208 Front Beach Road, (850) 234-8039, ThomasDonutAndSnackShop.com.
In the face of battle, the biggest and the oddest may certainly have their advantage — after all, whose eyes don’t roll in their head at the very thought of a milkshake so monstrous in size that it requires two hands to manage, decorated with cookies, candies and cake with enough sugar rush to power an entire kindergarten class? The sheer decadence is awesome in its lack of apology, its ingenuity and its creativity and boldness. And whether you heed to the siren call of that over-the-top sugar rush or stay true to the purity of a classic, a milkshake is a treat by any standard, a break from the routine to indulge in a bit of nostalgia for those childhood days gone by.

“We’ve got a view that’s one-in-a-million,’” says Melissa Whitted, the operations manager at Runaway Island. That observation is well founded as Runaway offers unobstructed views of the sun sinking into a watercolor of sunset hues each afternoon from their deck bar, sunset deck and dining deck, as well as their flag room and ballyhoo bar on their upper level. Perfect for those days when you feel like relaxing in a casual atmosphere and long to hear some live music on the deck while you dine on seven different types of fish tacos and sip some killer cocktails or wicked frozen drinks, Runaway Island is the perfect escape — especially as the weather gets cooler and that sea breeze blows in.

The goto shopping destination is definitely Pier Park North, where there is truly something for any visitor, no matter their style, hobby or taste. It also excludes those typical “tourist trap” stores, making the crowds far more comfortable.
VI S I T S HEL L I SL AND This local secret is a tough one to share because we love our private piece of paradise so much. Exploring Shell Island and all the wildlife that surrounds it is truly breathtaking. One side of the island faces St. Andrew’s Bay, but you can take a short walk to the other side of the island and swim in the Gulf. Blue Dolphin Tours will take your whole family and also help to get you up-close and personal views of dolphins, sea turtles and other sea life. The captains are local and know the best spots. 28

THINGS TO BRING ON VACATION F lea prevention/parasite control, due to exposure to common pet areas in condos, etc. M edical records/vaccine history, in case veterinary care is required. E xtra medication for your pet, if he or she is on regular medication.
TIPS 1 Watch your pet carefully while on the beach.
Dr. LeBleu sees a high number of sand impaction cases that are caused by pets ingesting sand. He adds that sand toxicity is also possible when a pet is playing on the beach, as are health problems caused by drinking ocean water.
2
To avoid heat stroke, provide your pet with plenty of shade and fresh drinking water, whether you’re on the beach or at the park.
3 Be aware that your pet may experience increased anxiety while on vacation, especially if he or she has noise phobia. For example,
fireworks on the Fourth of July can be very stressful for a pet. Consider medications to help your pet stay calm and comfortable. In addition, traveling can cause a pet to experience stress-induced diarrhea.
4 Dr. LeBleu cautions against traveling with animals that have major health concerns, because doing so can sometimes exacerbate conditions and force emergency visits. Dr. LeBleu says, “We’ve seen many vacations ruined due to petparents being faced with a euthanasia decision while away from home with their pet.”

utdoor activities in Panama City Beach usually revolve around two things: sand and surf. It’s natural that The World’s Most Beautiful Beaches beckon locals and travelers alike, but PCB also sports a treasure trove of activities, sights and exploration that don’t include a beach towel.
DIVING AND SNORKELING For scuba divers in search of unique underwater adventures, Panama City Beach is the place to be. Underneath its turquoise waters lies a treasure trove of natural and man-made sites spread across the northern Gulf of Mexico. “The diving here is phenomenal,” said Todd Yarbrough, course director at Red Alert Diving, a full-service dive center and aquatic training facility. “The variation of depth, the visibility and the conditions and the animal life are just unparalleled.” Within just a few miles
of Panama City Beach, divers will find more than 50 artificial reefs, sunken ships and barges, as well as hundreds of natural limestone reefs. “The artificial reef system we have here is pretty great,” said Yarbrough, who started diving when he was 12. “We have everything from 400-foot long ships to 40-foot Army tankers for people to dive on. Our shipwrecks are all within recreational limits, and they’re as clean and as safe as anything can be in our sport.” Perhaps the greatest draw — and one that appeals to all ages — is the marine life accessible around these dive sites. “We have such a vast array of fish from amberjack to goliath grouper, and goliath grouper get up to 700 to 800 pounds,” said Brian Robinson, general manager at Diver’s Den, which offers certification and dive charters. “They’re just a really cool thing for people to see.” For adventure enthusiasts who do not have their diving certification, snorkeling off the

CAMPING Camping in Panama City Beach is an experience like no other. Not only can you sleep out under the stars, hike beautiful trails and roast marshmallows over a campfire — you can do it all within walking distance of the sparkling Gulf of Mexico! Whether you prefer to pitch a tent, crank up the RV or glamp it up in style with all the comforts of home, Panama City Beach has the perfect spot for you. For that old-fashioned camping experience, Panama City Beach is home to St. Andrews State Park, where visitors can explore more than 1,200 acres of unique coastal terrain. One of the most popular state parks in Florida, St. Andrews is perfect for tent campers and folks with RVs. With 176 campsites — for tents and RVs up to 45 feet — in the pinewoods near Grand Lagoon, the park has the largest selection of camping accommodations in the area. The park offers more than a mile and a half of sugar-white beachfront, and for those who like to hike or simply stroll through nature, there are two main inland trails. Heron Pond Trail takes visitors through a flatwood pine forest and past a historic turpentine still, while Gator Lake Trail offers a scenic view of Gator Lake. Other 46

activities include watching wading birds at Button Bush Marsh, shore and pier fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and taking the boat shuttle to Shell Island, a pristine barrier island across the channel from the park. For more on PCB’s public parks, see page 54.
BIKING HIKING Walking is wonderful, but bicycling might get you through paradise quicker. With beautiful hiking and bike-friendly trails — plus plenty of bike rental shops — Panama City Beach is a trailblazer’s dream come true. Bike Paths & Trails Conservation Park spans 2,912 acres and offers more than 24 miles of trails and boardwalks. The 12 designated trails range from less than a mile to 11 miles long. An additional mile of boardwalks through the park’s wetlands allows bird watchers unparalleled opportunities to view migrating and local birds.
DEEP DIVE Here are five of the top wrecks and reefs to seek out in PCB:

BL AC K B A R T Located six miles off shore, this old oil field supply ship serves as a memorial to Capt. Charles Bartholomew, the U.S. Navy’s Supervisor of Salvage in Panama City.
US S S TR ENG T H This former U.S. Navy minesweeper is one of the most inviting wrecks along the Gulf Coast. Sunk in 1987, the 184-foot ship is located about six miles off the coast.
For the explorer who wants a smoother, less challenging path to follow than those found in Conservation Park, Gayle’s Trails are a great option. These paved pathways were named after former Mayor Gayle F. Oberst, who played a major role in securing the grants that allowed for the trails’ development. The Gayle’s Trails trail heads are found in Aaron Bessant Park and Frank Brown Park. Gayle’s Trails offer cyclists the choice of three routes with a round trip of up to 19.5 miles. Visitors can choose to walk or bike the trails found within the parks’ boundaries, or they can follow them from park to park. They can also explore the many paths that lead away from the parks, such as the trail that runs from Frank Brown
Park to the Panama City Beach Conservation Park (2.8 miles), or the stretch that parallels Highway 79 north to the Intracoastal Waterway.
PADDLEBOARDING Beach lovers can surf the waves via paddleboard on Panama City Beach’s protected and open waters like the Grand Lagoon, St. Andrews Bay and various cold springs, rivers and lakes in the region. While paddleboarding, guests can spy rays, fish, sea turtles, dolphin and other wildlife beneath the water’s surface. Equipment is easily rented from The Boardroom or PCB SUP, and for the especially brave and well balanced, paddleboard yoga is also available at Yoga Elements.

THE FASTEST GROWING SPORT YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF One of the fastest growing sports in America involves a court and a net. But it’s not tennis or badminton, it’s pickleball. For the uninitiated, pickleball is something of a mix between tennis, racquetball and ping pong. Players use special paddles and a wiffle ball, and games take place on tennis courts with specific pickleball lines. Nets and court sizes are smaller than their tennis counterparts, and the most common game is doubles, although singles is also an option. It has its own set of quirky rules — for instance, try to stay out of the “kitchen”— but they’re easy to learn. The game is also quick, making it a convenient way to get in some exercise. Games in a typical league run only 15 minutes each — you can get in as little or as much as you want. The Club at Edgewater recently added three pickleball courts to their expanding list of resort amenities. Equipment is available to rent, and a court reservation is required to play. Contact The Club at Edgewater by calling (850) 235-7324.

ake a break from the beach and experience the wild. ZooWorld is not your typical “look and see” type of zoo and offers numerous unique, hands-on opportunities with animals you would otherwise never get to touch. Brought to Panama City Beach almost 75 years ago by a local family, the zoo is nearly unrecognizable from the renovations and improvements made to the entire park by new ownership. ZooWorld has truly become a gem of the community. Zoo World Panama City Beach, Florida, is home to exotic animals from all over the world, and you won’t need binoculars to see them! Step foot onto the 5.4-acre property and be welcomed with monkeys, guinea pigs, otters and rheas (a smaller breed related to ostriches). There is even a fun tunnel through the guinea pig exhibit for little ones to feel like they are in the room with them. Brought back from its original establishment at ZooWorld in 1948, the Snake-a-torium is remodeled and features decades of history. Not only can you see pythons, boas, and vipers, but also get a close look at bearded
dragons, Argentine tegus and iguanas. Squeamish around reptiles? That’s OK — you can wait right outside the vinyl strip doors and gently pet the bunny rabbits. Besides the snake-a-torium, other hands-off exhibits are abundant. Check out the native black bears in their new home with two floor length glass viewing barriers, or the interesting bearcats from south Asia. There are also active tortoises, meerkats, several monkey species, and Asian wild dogs to see and learn more about. If looking and seeing isn’t a big enough thrill or if your children love animals, almost the entire remainder of the park allows for touching, petting and feeding animals. Starting with probably the most popular hands-on attraction, feeding the two giraffes is an awesome time no matter your age. Purchase a few lettuce leaves and reach up to hand it to them, or if you’re even more daring, feed it to them straight from your mouth. There is even a private giraffe feeding area on a platform overlook for an extra cost. After feeding the giraffes, stick around to pet the fun and personal petting zoo animals such as ponies, deer, goats, camels, pigs and more.
Watch out for the baby goats that roam and hop around freely and offer up tons of laughs. Grab an animal feed cup, and they’ll gobble it all up right out your hand. Ready to take flight? Walk through a free flight aviary with hundreds of colorful and exotic birds who love the interaction. For an even closer experience, bring in a budgie stick to feed the birds. You’ll start to find them sitting on the stick, your shoulder, or finger trying to nibble off the birdseed. If you can overcome your fear of large reptiles, walk over to the newly constructed Allapattah Swamp and stand over 80-plus alligators. While 2021 G O I N ’ TO T H E B E AC H

Slow it down a few notches, or several, and pet the world’s slowest animal — the sloth. These cute and docile creatures only reach a top speed of .003 miles per hour and live most of their lives hanging upside down. Not into sloths? Snuggle with a lemur instead. ZooWorld offers a rare opportunity to be hands-on with one of our world’s endangered species; the most endangered group of animals on the planet to be exact.
If there is one thing to be said about the entire team at ZooWorld, it’s that they are passionate about animals and their life work. In early 2020, they raised close to $20,000 for purchasing critical medical supplies to assist relief for Australia’s wildlife wounded by their brush fires. ZooWorld has also made huge strides in reducing harmful and plastic waste. In spring of 2019, they had over 450 patrons pledge to give up straws and cut back on plastic bag use, and they also passed out reusable water bottles and shopping bags.
Last but not least, try out ZooWorld’s newest attraction and fla-mingle with their flock. It’s your chance to become a part of this pink herd in a fun and interactive way with Chilean flamingos. Get up close to snap some great photos, and learn from the experts who care for them daily. Please note, you still are unable to touch the flamingos. If you’ve made it around to all the animal exhibits, why not connect with your inner lumberjack and test your skills at ZooWorld’s newest attraction? Big changes and new attractions are still in the works at the zoo. The state-of-the-art African exhibit is now open, and you can also feed and hold baby kangaroos.
Zoos are more than just an attraction, and most, like ZooWorld, are conservation organizations committed to saving endangered species around the world. Picture the wide-eyed wonder on a child’s face upon meeting a living, breathing giraffe, something she’s only seen on a digital screen before — or the wonder of encountering a flamingo that is looking at you with the same curiosity you have about him. These are the moments that tell the story of ZooWorld Panama City Beach. It is these connections that spark the desire to protect and save species.

Volunteers may spend their day assisting with lemur and giraffe encounters, interacting with guests in our Budgie Bush-Walk Aviary or introducing any number of our ambassador animals to visitors.
