Boldly penned ALS in French, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 4 x 6.25, no date. Letter inquiring about music lessons, in part (translated): “My dear friend, Is Madam Retz giving lessons at home or outside? And at what price? You will be very kind to give me all the information about this.” In fine condition. Starting Bid $200

composer (1857–1934) and a significant figure among late Romantic European musicians. ALS, three pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.25 x 8.25, 38 Via Gregoriana letterhead, November 23, 1917. Handwritten letter, in part: “I rec’d the enclosed a few days ago & today I’ve received the copy of…referred to. Will one of your people write to Herr Reiners & tell him I cannot possibly alter the passage. I remember his artistic imagery with pleasure…You will see that his letter requests an alteration of the only real tenor bit…his pencilled proposition alters the melody into nothing.” In fine condition, with faint edge toning.
