THE FUN SIDE OF AMI

ROUND TABLE ZIMBABWE ANNUAL FISHING EVENT

Round Table Zimbabwe held its annual Round Table Invitational Fishing Trip on the mighty Zambezi River in November of last year. The trip is an opportunity for present and past Tablers to spend 4 days on the river socializing, sinking some beers and occasionally even catching some fish. Last year, close to 30 Tablers and 41ers descended on the Pump House Camp Site to compete for the three trophies up for grabs. The fishing was great, with many tigerfish caught and bream, Chesser, nkupi etc. This year was one of the most festive after the constraints and travel restrictions of the past few years due to Covid. Needless to say, the Tablers certainly let their hair down and enjoyed themselves immensely. Although the trip is essentially for fellowship, there is a serious element to it where we remember past Tablers and pay tribute to our brothers who have passed away. This year promises to be just as exciting, and Tablers are already getting their rods ready and packing their fishing boxes!

THE KLIMBMANJARO BY ROUND TABLE ARUSHA

Round Table Arusha 14 of Round Table Eastern Africa host an annual event called Klimbmanjaro. The idea came about by a fellow Tabler from Kokstad who proposed the idea. International Tablers have participated in this charity event with a success rate of 100% since its first edition in 2016. The best guides and porters are provided for the climb, and the safety of the climbers is a number one priority. Participants usually pay the cost price but are asked to raise money from their specific table, association or local sponsors. All proceeds money raised from the climb go to support orphans whose school fees are taken care of by Round Table Arusha. To date, Round Table Arusha are paying school fees for 8 orphans - where 2 are already in university - and expects to add another 2 more next year to our list.

OUR CLUBHOUSE, THE SHACK! ROUND TABLE LILONGWE 32 (MALAWI)

In the capital city of Malawi resides the clubhouse of Round Table Lilongwe 32, a home for every Tabler. With a big sign by the road and a logo painted on the building, “The Shack” has been a statement within the Lilongwe community, where the bar is being run by a Tabler. RT Lilongwe 32 utilizes the clubhouse for most of its fundraising activities. Every year, the biggest fundraiser is the Volleyball league, where 3 full seasons are run, Wet, Cold and Hot. Lilongwe 32 manages to raise about 4.5 Million kwacha (approx. 4,500 Euro) per year with this Fun Sporting event. Next to the volleyball, RT Lilongwe 32 also host its yearly Beer festival. They run bars with imported and local drinks. It’s a fun family event, with face painting, a jumping castle and a full food court with different popular cuisines. "The Shack" is a welcoming spot for fellowship, meetings, sports and a lot more. To our fellow brothers out there, if you ever find yourself in Malawi, Lilongwe, know that you have a home.

Yours in table
