Funding for this organization is provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council. WE ARE PROUD OF OUR DONORS & SUPPORTERS

In 1997, Nina Allen and Marisa Parmeggiani had the great idea of founding a Junior company that would encourage young ballet students to pursue their dreams and to give them performing opportunities that they had never dreamed of. I brought my former students, and then professional dancers to dance with them, and so it is how Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida was born. More teenagers began to be attracted by the programs and the opportunities. So we had the young dancers, we had the partenaires, we had the creativity, and many dreams, but we lacked of a true administrative organization that would make those dreams come true. Back in 2000 and for the production of Chipollino, we needed a group of adults that would join us on stage and represent some of the characters of this production. Leslie Rozencwaig, Eric Renteria, Gary Pyott, Ada Valiente, Marcia Frantz and Linda Drozdow joined the cast and after one of the rehearsals, and lead by Leslie Rozencwaig, they all decided to restructure the Board and dreams began to come true. With Leslie’s good advice and the Board’s ideas and enthusiasm, the company began to hire professional dancers, get support from different organizations and the enthusiastic students were proud to dance next to the professionals and learn from them. We have now a 20 member professional company where two of them are graduates from the school. We have danced in three counties of South Florida, in New York, California, Poland, Denmark, Germany, and Peru. We have an entire season of performances and high quality productions for everyone to enjoy. Dreams do come true, but in our case it could not have happened without the ideas and support of this wonderful man, loving husband and father, and best friend Leslie Rozencwaig. We truly believe his love, passion and dedication towards Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida has made a difference in our organization and he continues to be an inspiration for everyone involved. It is with great pleasure that we dedicate this performance to our dear friend and continuous supporter Leslie A. Rozencwaig. Thank you Vladimir Issaev Artistic Director

A multi-faceted choreographer, Vicente Nebrada was the most important of the Venezuelan choreographers and continues to be so even after his passing in 1992. Shostakovich Suites Music: Shostakovich Choreography: Vladimir Issaev

Dmitry Shostakovich belongs to the generation of composers trained principally after the Communist Revolution of 1917. He graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory as a pianist and composer. His subsequent career in Russia varied with the political climate. He occupies a significant position in the 20th century as a composer, writing in a style that is sometimes spare in texture but always accessible. Vladimir Issaev created a choreography using a mix of the composer’s Ballet suites where Shostakovich’s wittiness and intelligence are clearly shown. Issaev combines this wonderful music with spectacular dance movements suitable to the extraordinary abilities of his dancers.

Nebrada presented the abstract work with such detail in his choreography that the dancers had no trouble communicating with the audience. ‘Pentimento’ had the look of a vibrant oil painting. The use of masks, the flowing fabrics and the creative lighting provided an atmosphere of elegance and decadence”. United Press International
