Pack a pendant and health insurance along with your passport

12

A simple pendant or bracelet could help save your life if you make the decision to go abroad to live, according to international insurance specialists. Experts at International Citizens Insurance have issued some top tips to people preparing to move countries in search of a new life. Buying a small piece of jewelry to display vital medical information – alongside investing in vital healthcare insurance – could be one of the best decisions you ever made if you have a long term chronic health condition. The advice from International Citizens Insurance comes as it also highlights top destinations which will not allow entry into their country without health insurance – a trend that could increase amid the global pandemic. Joe Cronin, President of International Citizens Insurance said: “There is much to consider when looking to make the move abroad and obtaining

the right level of insurance cover for your needs and circumstances is right at the top of the list. But there are lots of other things that need to be considered when planning. “If you have a chronic medical condition while abroad, arrange an appointment with the appropriate specialist in your host country. Consider obtaining a bracelet or pendant indicating your important medical condition. Also, be mindful and aware of any worsening of your condition.” The global insurance specialist says the following tips are also important to consider, as recommended by doctors, HR experts and expatriates. As part of your preparation: • Ask your doctor about vaccinations and immunizations required for your overseas stay • Translate the names of prescription and overthe-counter medications you use

This is especially important with an increasing number of countries who will not let you into the country without healthcare insurance. This means travelers can be turned away as soon as they arrive. Gucci Osteria Beverly Hills Receives First Michelin Star

16

Los Angeles restaurant Gucci Osteria Beverly Hills has been awarded a Michelin star in the 2021 edition of the prestigious MICHELIN Guide California. Promoting modern Italian cuisine while embracing local Californian ingredients, Gucci Osteria is led by the young Italian chef Mattia Agazzi, under the guidance of chef Massimo Bottura of three-star Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy. Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura are a series of contemporary restaurants that share the same values and principles under one Gucci Osteria

umbrella. Located in select cities, each celebrates their own varied and unique identity, while sharing a culinary philosophy that rides the wave of the seasons with creativity, elegance, playfulness, and sensuality.  With this philosophy in mind, Agazzi has used his California location to spearhead a new type of cuisine, harnessing the very best in seasonal produce, creating playful interpretations of classic Italian dishes. Recent dishes included Uni Carbonara using sea urchins from the Santa Barbara

nov/dec 2021 coast, mixed with egg tagliolini and thinly chopped guanciale-style calamari, and I Love Rock Climbing in which wild morels are brought to the next level, presented side by side with cuts of plump, meaty trout.   Agazzi was appointed head chef for Gucci Osteria BH in 2020, bringing the youthful energy and philosophy of the original Gucci Osteria in Florence to Los Angeles. For a chef that is ingredient-led and whose Italian background provides a foundation for creativity, California and Gucci Osteria BH are a natural home for Agazzi and his approach to food.   Growing up in Bergamo in the Lombardy region of Northern Italy gave

“I Love Rock Climbing”

Agazzi a landscape to explore. Close to mountain ranges and deep countryside, Lombardy is a region that has four distinct seasons offering an incredible range of produce, and roots for personal inspiration. Lombardy was to Agazzi a clean slate, as open as a blank page waiting to be filled with the musings and creations of a talented chef who is also a passionate forager, an ardent angler, and to top it all, a first-class outdoor athlete and daredevil free rock climber. These are the same hobbies that he naturally still pursues in his free time in California. m (Images by Gabriele Stabile)

The Museum Hotel Antakya Reopens to Offer Unique Experience of Ancient and Modern Worlds

The 2nd-century mosaic, thought to be a floor from a Roman forum villa, is just one of the treasures unearthed during the building of the hotel in Antakya – ancient Antioch – once one of the three largest and most important cities in the Roman Empire and an early center of Christianity. An exceptional marble sculpture of Eros found in one piece is also among the rare finds.   The preservation project

The surprise discovery was made during the initial stages of the construction of the hotel in southeast Turkey. Your tour here will teach you many things you simply did not know about oysters, irrespective of whether you are a connoisseur or not. But even more special is the unique location of the farm and the importance that plays in its operations. You will also learn how to shuck oysters and learn about mussels and clams during your visit. Celebrate Food through Art and Cooking As James Beard said, “Food is our common ground, a universal experience.” For Marcella Kriebel, it has been the fuel that drives her passion for watercolor art and her illustrated cookbooks. Marcella Kriebel Art & Illustration is her collection, perfect for people who love to cook and are foodies at heart. With a paintbrush in hand, Kriebel has us craving everything from fresh veggies and fruit to cocktails and more. The food artist and illustrator, cookbook author, and overall food lover creates beautiful cookbooks, art prints, stationery, kitchen towels, all celebrating food and travel. Her collection includes two illustrated cookbooks and more than 100 vibrant watercolor prints. She paints watercolor designs of food and flower images that truly relate to everyday life. Mi Comida Latina Cookbook is a collection that includes many of her favorite dishes, desserts, and drinks inspired by her travels in Central and South America; tamales, ceviche, empanadas, flan and many more favorites from countries including Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Puerto Rico. She has also included pages about ingredients that are less commonly found in the U.S. including prickly pear, yuca root, and epazote. A Cuban Culinary Journey Cookbook, her second book, Comida Cubana, beautifully illuminates a variety of Cuban Classics. She traveled to Cuba in 2016 and cooked with over a dozen people on the island, sketching and recording her travels along the way. Her experiences unfold in the headnotes of every page and the book is comprised of over 100 distinctive hand drawn recipes in watercolor and pen and ink. Like her first book, Comida Cubana is an art piece and a cookbook in one but dives deeper into the history and origin of recipes and includes her vibrant watercolors on every page. With wit, skill, and an eye for nature’s beauty, she has also embarked on a journey to give back. She is a partner of José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen and has created prints and illustrated recipes for their food distribution programs, as well as murals narrating their initiatives globally. She is also supporter of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, donating profits of her recent calendar to their cause supporting farm workers’ rights, and social justice initiatives of Latinos in Central Valley California. Painter, author, muralist - art embodies everything she touches. m
