MID BORDER ARTS Mid Border Arts is an organisation with charitable status promoting a wide range of arts & community activities in the Assembly Rooms, Presteigne. It is run by a volunteer board of directors and a part time co-ordinator. FACILITIES The Assembly Rooms offer an elegant and well equipped space with a domed ceiling, Georgian windows and tiered seating for 100 people. It has its own theatre lighting, film screen, data projector and PA equipment. There is also a Meeting Room, lift and toilet with disabled access. The UK Government has given the green light to licence Shale Gas Extraction by Hydraulic Fracturing or FRACKING. This documentary records what happened in parts of the USA when some of the same companies began tapping into the natural gas. When film maker Josh Fox is asked to lease his land for drilling, he embarks upon an odyssey uncovering a trail of secrets, lies and water contamination. KLEZMER KOLLECTIV Klezmer Kollectiv, who’s January sellout gig was cancelled due to illness, are known for their ultra-tight live sound and footstomping Balkan rhythms. The Kollectiv have appeared on BBC2’s Culture Show and recently with actor Paul Kaye on the BBC Four documentary on traditions within Klezmer music.
