PLAN:
Designed to highlight the plant communities and small pollinators of South Africa. A visitor finds them self in the radiating about through the regions of Cape Succulent, Cape Floristic and Fynbos region, while encountering demonstrative bee hives, insect tanks and boards illustrating their process of pollination.
As a way of transversing the steep grade from zoo entrance to later exhibits, an elevated walkway winds its way up to the higher elevation. Leaving a vantage point above the Interpretative station and entrance into the aviary.

As an extension of the exploration of pollination, a walkthrough aviary highlights not only the South African plant communities of the Cape region but the birds that pollinate these areas. Home to an array of nectar and seed eating birds, this collection provides a glimpse of an active and thriving ecosystem from South Africa.
ACTIVITIES
Responding to the master plan document for the botanical garden, “Its emphasis is on the exploration of the various ways in which mediterranean plants are pollinated with an emphasis on many of the unique insect/plant associations that occur in South Africa.”
