Carnival Relay for Life Car Wash Fundraiser Bayside Key Club Dinner
3
Carnival Bayside High School had its yearly carnival event, and this year, Key Club set up a cotton candy booth to raise money. Although making the cotton candy was somewhat messy and sticky, it was really enjoyable. Because of our abundant supply of sugar, we made the cotton candy as large as possible, which pleased many. We often made extras just to give them to other clubs members or teachers. I hope to see and meet even more people at this event next year! -Hana Ho, Editor

On June 2nd, the American Cancer Society held their annual fundraiser, Relay for Life, at the Bayside Athletic Field. I was so glad that I was able to help out in setting up the luminary bags around the track field. When I arrived, I walked into a tent full of unfamiliar faces. We began placing LED flameless candles and wooden blocks inside the luminary bags to prevent them from being blown down by the wind. As I continued to work, I gradually began talking to those working alongside with me and found myself unintentionally becoming close friends with them. I really didn't expect to make so many friends in just one event! Survivors began to walk around the track and everyone began to cheer for being able to stay strong throughout their journey. Then, the caregivers walked around the track while everybody applauded them for being able to help out and support those who needed all the love and support. Unfortunately, I was not able to arrive at the event’s start time, but I was able help clean up and watch the event come to an end. The night was truly beautiful, and the luminary bags shined even brighter in the nighttime.-Yeahna Son, member

Car Wash Fundraiser
I helped out on both days of the car wash fundraiser, and overall, it was a fun experience. During the event, my friends and I washed about over 20 cars for free. Many gave donations, even one going up to $100! It really encouraged everyone to work hard and wash the cars. We raised $500 which made us very happy to know that it was going to a good cause: relay for life. Our hard work really paid off in the end, and I will continue to help out in the upcoming years.-Doan Huynh, Secretary
