TD Bike Tour

TD bike tour was one of those events where once you’re busy, you just can’t stop. There were many booths to set up and handle once the bikers arrived at the scene. There were many stations dealing with canned seltzer water, electrolyte, granola bars, water, bananas and apples, etc. Getting there and seeing all my friends from other schools, as well as making new friends, was probably the best part of the event. Afterwards, the Bayside Key Clubbers along with Mr. Jacoby decided to kill two birds with one stone and go through the the recycled cans and pop off the tabs to donate to Ronald McDonald House. We probably went through over 100 cans at most and came home with plenty of soda tabs. Nevertheless, the event was a success and definitely fun with everyone being there. So sad, as I’m a senior, to say I can’t be there next year.-Alvina Khan, member

My experience at my second Japan Day started as a complete roller coaster ride; the day started out wild, but turned out to be fun. At first, there was a lot of rain, which made the weather a bit cold and gloomy. However, even when I got drenched in rain and close to freezing to death, I was thrilled that I was able to experience so many other things I missed out on my first Japan Day. This time, I was able to see so many amazing performances and the day was overall great. I was able to spend it with my friends, which made this event all the more better.-Amanda Santiago, Vice President

Although rain was pouring, we all had a lot of fun participating in the Lung Force Walk! We were greeted by a giant inflatable sign that said ‘Lung Force’ and plenty of bagels!! We set up all the different tents and layed out various items at each tent. As we waited for people to arrive, we danced in the rain and took lots of commemorative photos together. Working at the merchandise tent was a great experience. I got the opportunity to listen to stories of those who have gone through or have experienced family struggling through a lung disease or lung cancer, how they overcame it and support and donations to the cause. We saw many people who raised hundreds of dollars for something they care about. Their stories really touched me, knowing how much they sacrificed, the hardships they endured, and the strength they gained as a result. This event was truly worth being drenched, as it moved my heart and I really felt connected to the people and hardships they all went through. -Fenny Chen, Secretary

Aids Walk NYC

The AIDS Walk was 6 miles and was held at Central Park. Its purpose was to fund and raise awareness of AIDS. Throughout the walk, there were refreshments such as cookies, water, and lemonade. Along with the refreshments, there were cheerleaders, musicians, and dancers cheering us on. I have to admit, when I was at the 1-mile mark, it felt like it was my 5th mile! At the finish line, walkers got to receive free bags, ice cream, snacks, and drinks. What I got out of the walk was a lot of sweat, snacks, and another great experience. It was overall a great time with great people for a great cause!-Jessica Li, member

Bayside High School Key Club’s Buffet Fundraiser The buffet fundraiser was a fun experience. We got to eat a lot of good food that we don’t get to eat often. Best of all, we were able to spend time with friends, while meeting new people from other schools. Everyone had a good time and we raised money at the same time.-Crystal Lin, member
