Applause Dance Center to hold charity performance night SÃO PAULO (March 30, 2017) – The highly acclaimed original ballet “Jurema” will be back for an unforgettable night of charity, music, giving and dance. In partnership with local government, Applause Dance Center will host a special performance to public schools of Barueri, Brazil. The fundraiser and charity event that holds a performance of the dance studio’s 2016 annual show offers children the chance to meet-and-greet dancers backstage and a free ballet class, on stage, at the end of the presentation. Interested students can be later evaluated for a scholarship opportunity. The event will take place on Friday, April 14, 2017, at the Municipal Theatre of Barueri, 255 Ministro Rafael de Barros Monteiro St., Barueri 06402, Brazil. The venue will open doors at 6:30 p.m. and end at around 10 p.m. “I will never forget how my daughter came back that night,” said Silvia Oliveira, mother of a public school student who attended last years’ charity performance. “She found a new passion, and she’s really good at it – they help her.” Oliveira’s daughter is one of a few lucky children who was offered a scholarship to dance at the prestigious dance academy. At only 9 years old, Renata Oliveira is praised by the directors of the studio who say her strong determination, talent and passion for dance put her on the right path toward the dream of a professional career. Local government will provide transportation back and forth between the theater and involved public schools. The 15 schools chosen to be a part of this event are of low socioeconomic districts with “at-risk” students – they were chosen from the local “What makes you dance?” contest, in which children shared their interest in performing arts through essays and videos. The event’s goal is not only fundraising for Unicef Brazil, but also of inspiring children and teenagers to dance and follow their dreams. Admittance is open to everyone who wishes to go and tickets can be paid at the entrance in form of money ($12,) toys, and non-perishable food that will be donated to the children’s program at Unicef Brazil after the event. Last year, more than 1,500 pounds of food were donated, along with 433 toys and almost $5,000.
