For Immediate Release News Release
‘Cane Records’ to release 26th compilation album in January CORAL GABLES, Fla. (Sept. 15, 2016) – The student-run record label based at the University of Miami will release its 26th compilation album on Jan. 29, 2017. All artists on the album are students from the prestigious Frost School of Music. Their genres range from Latin pop to indie folk to country. The album, For the Record Vol. 2, is the second in ‘Cane Records’ newest compilation series. This album and its predecessor have a narrowed vision from past releases. In years past, artist submissions have been open to everyone in the Miami area, but ‘Cane Records has chosen to hone in on talent found solely in the UM population. It hopes to showcase the immense, vast and diverse talent that Frost students have to offer. “Everything ‘Cane Records does in the coming year will be a reflection of its desire to innovate and take steps toward a new future for both its brand and the artists they promote,” said ‘Cane Records president Cristian Hitchcock, a senior from Queens, N.Y. After the compilation is released each year, ‘Cane Records hosts a live showcase featuring all the artists. The date and location of this event have yet to be announced, but more information should be available soon. The album will be available for free with the opportunity to give donations at the artist showcase and various other university-related and local events.
