PUBLIC OPINION
They’re skilled workers. They’re educated businessmen. They’re doctors, chefs, and professors.
The media portrays refugees as hopeless and helpless, but that’s not the whole truth.
The influx of refugees should be seen in a different light. Let’s help the refugees reach their full potential, get back on their feet, and become self-sufficient.
INTRODUCING
OPEN DOOR A service that will connect qualified Syrian refugees with job opportunities.
HOW IT WORKS
Open Door is a match-making service between employer and employee. Through Linkedin profiles, we’d secure talented and intelligent refugees with a way to support themsleves, helping them become contributing members of society, not just charity cases. We will find and encourage employers, small and large, to employ refugees.
Businesses and refugees will make profiles that reflect their specific needs and capabilities. Refugees will identify whether they’ve reached another country or refugee camp. While businesses will indicate their size and nationality. All businesses are welcome, from multinational corporations to the restaurant around the corner.
Open Door will act as the middle man, matching refugee profiles to businesses that would be a good fit.
HOW IT WORKS
Refugees can create profiles with work experience, education, current country of residence, and most importantly, their story.
Small business owners can take action. Local spots would match with nearby and suitable employees, like baristas or construction workers that have settled in a small German town. Big businesses can hire from more distant locations and in larger numbers. For example, we could link a University in Vienna with a professor stuck in a Lebanese camp.
STORIES
The profile is not only resumĂŠ, but provides background and insight into the life of someone personally affected by the armed conflict in Syria.
#OPENDOOR
Through a story-driven social media and ad campaign, #OpenDoor will challenge public prejudice of what a refugee might be like. Success stories will show the potential of refugees and motivate the public to view immigration as an opportunity to enrich the community while helping those in need.
Our story-driven social campaign will extend to print ads in public places, further trying to inspire wide-spread support for the intake of refugees. By juxtaposing who they really are and who they’re assumed to be, Open Door will open minds.
COMMUNITY
Businesses that hire refugees can proudly place a sticker on their door, like they would a Zagat or Michellin sticker.
