SA R A H SL OC UM C OL L INS

Chris is a Little Rock native who currently anchors Daybreak and Good Morning Arkansas at KATV Channel 7. He also does the color commentary for the University of Central Arkansas Football Team.

Sarah Slocum Collins is a Sheridan native who serves as Chief of Staff for Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, DC. Sarah earned her law degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law and is licensed in the state of Arkansas. Prior to law school, Sarah graduated summa cum laude from the University of Central Arkansas earning a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a minor in Mass Communication.

Chris was born in Little Rock and moved to Jacksonville, FL when he was ten years old. That’s where he became a huge NFL fan, specifically the Jacksonville Jaguars. With his parents both attending the University of Arkansas, Chris is also a lifelong Razorback fan. While is Florida, he attended Bishop Kenny High School and went on to graduate from the University of Central Florida in Orlando with a Radio/Television Degree. Go Knights! Before becoming Weekend Sports Anchor, Chris hosted FLW College Fishing on VS Network with former Channel 7 host Jason Harper & Professional Angler Justin Lucas from 2009-10. During this time he was able to travel the country hosting different fishing tournaments. He say this time was an amazing experience being able to learn from Jason and work with some of the most geniune people in the world. Although he joined the station officially in 2010, Chris completed 3 internships at KATV in the SPorts Department and learned “more than I could ever imagine” from Steve Sullivan, Dale Nicholson and Anthony Eckart. As far as Daybreak goes, there is not a better crew around. From the crew behind the scenes, to co-hosts Melinda and Alyson, work is truly fun in the morning.

W H I T N E Y W I L L I A MS

When I was a shy ten year old just beginning my twirling career, the words that people said made a very big impact on my heart and mind. During a twirling activity we were asked to share certain goals we would like to achieve and on that list was to become Miss Arkansas. From that day forward I decided to make my ten year old self proud and to be my own hero. Little did I know that one day I would be a two-time Buddy Coleman Overall Talent Winner, Non-Finalist Talent Winner at Miss America, and Miss Arkansas!

This year has been one that I will never forget, full of memories with so many friends and family. I am forever grateful for this time to have found the most confident version of myself and to have grown in social service. Thank you to every single sponsor, donor, volunteer, and board member that have created such an incredible organization that continues to empower women in every aspect of their lives. I believe that I have made my ten year old self proud, but it could not have been possible without each of you.

FAREWELL

WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE STOPPING, THINK ABOUT WHY YOU STARTED.

Love,

Whitney Williams Miss Arkansas 2021

The Asher Ray Mentor Award

Given By Maggie Benton Counce and Family In memory of Maggie's loyal friend and Diamond State Princess, Asher Brooklyn Ray, we are pleased to award the Asher Ray Mentor Scholarship! This $1,000 scholarship provided by the Benton Family highlights special relationships between Miss Arkansas Diamond State Princesses and their Miss Arkansas Contestant/Mentor. Princesses were asked to submit a letter of recommendation on behalf of their mentors and the winner will be selected by Susan and Justin Ray, proud parents of Asher. The award will be given to the contestant that they believe best represents what the DSP program stands for - mentorship, love, care, and friendship between a contestant and her DSP.

W O W ! What a life changing

of you. Whitney, thank you for being the big sister I never had! I love you always and I am so grateful we got to experience this year together. To the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen class of 2022 and to the Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen class of 2021 you have brought me some of my closest friends and I could not be more thankful for each and everyone of you. Thank you for being such a huge part of my journey I love you all. To my mom, dad, brothers, Meemaw and friends you have been my biggest supporters and I would be lost without you. Thank you for being my rock, for being there on the good days and the bad days. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without you all. My heart is so full with gratitude. I love you guys so much. Finally, to God I give thanks to you for absolutely everything. The opportunity that has been given me this year was life changing and one I will cherish forever.

FAREWELL

year. I truly do not have the words to describe how incredibly thankful I am for the people, experiences and the opportunities this organization has given me. Everyone that is a part of the Miss Arkansas Organization is top notch, from our fabulous board of directors to our outstanding sponsors. I want to start by saying a huge thank you to the Houseworth and Whitener families for loving me unconditionally and opening up your homes to me. I would also like to give a special thank you to Abby Houseworth Whitener for becoming one of my closest friends and biggest mentors. I love you always. CJ, thank you for always keeping me on track and making sure everything moves smoothly. Mr. Dennis, thank you for believing in me and supporting me since day one. You have no idea how thankful I am for you! I love you so very much! Sandon Williams, Emily Rains, Brett Harris, and Allyce Johnson…I have absolutely no words to say…..but thank you. Thank you for believing in me, pushing me to be the best version of myself, and for becoming not only part of my family, but also some of my closet friends. This year truly would not have happened without the four

Arkansas, thank you for allowing me to serve you this year. It truly has been the greatest and most rewarding honor of my life. Always remember to be a light and an outlet to those around you and always remember to Be The Change.

Forever Yours,

Shelby Cook
