THEREFORE, IF ANYONE IS IN CHRIST, THE NEW CREATION HAS COME: THE OLD HAS GONE, THE NEW IS HERE! ALL THIS IS FROM GOD, WHO RECONCILED US TO HIMSELF THROUGH CHRIST AND GAVE US THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION: THAT GOD WAS RECONCILING THE WORLD TO HIMSELF IN CHRIST, NOT COUNTING PEOPLe ’S SINS AGAINST THEM. AND HE HAS COMMITTED TO US THE MESSAGE OF RECONCILIATION. WE ARE THEREFORE CHRIST ’S AMBASSADORS, AS THOUGH GOD WERE MAKING HIS APPEAL THROUGH US. WE IMPLORE YOU ON CHRIST ’S BEHALF: BE RECONCILED TO GOD.

GREETINGS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL LEADERS
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” —2 Corinthians 5:18 NIV
General Brian and Commissioner Rosalie Peddle The General and the World President of Women’s Ministries
Dear Cadets, What a privilege to greet you on this significant day, when you will be commissioned as officers in The Salvation Army. In a world all too easily divided by gender, race, politics, religion, and economics, to name just a few examples, you have a much needed, unique, and God-given ministry of reconciliation. In all you do, point people to Jesus, because unless we are truly reconciled to and through Jesus there is no hope of us being reconciled with each other. God has called you and equipped you. You have completed your training and applied yourself to the journey of learning and preparation. This commissioning day is not the end. Today is a day of consecration and celebration, it is a ‘red letter day’ to mark the culmination of your journey of discipleship and obedience to this point. Today, your denomination will commission and authorise you to minister and pastor, to meet human need, to preach, teach, and disciple,
2
to represent God and The Salvation Army essentially to release you into a broken, hurting, and fragmented world that desperately needs your ministry of reconciliation. Keep God central to all you are and do. Our position as saved and sanctified people is because of the work of God in our lives. The ministry we are called into is a gift from God - it is His ministry that He invites us to participate in. Every aspect of ministry as a Salvation Army officer should be about connecting people to God. In every appointment you receive, remember your sessional name and the powerful, transforming ministry of reconciliation you have been gifted with. God bless the Messengers of Reconciliation.

STAFF COLLEGE FOR OFFICER TRAINING
A word from the Training Principal
Dear Messengers of Reconciliation,
Lt. Colonels James and Patricia LaBossiere Training Principal/
Assistant Training Principal for Ministry Development
6
On behalf of the officers and staff of the College for Officers Training, I want to share my congratulations with each of you upon your Ordination and Commissioning as Salvation Army Officers. As a session, you have travelled together through the challenges of virtual classes, mission & ministry experiences and “socially distanced” fellowship. Through it all, you have pursued Christ and His purposes for your lives. It is my prayer that the Lord will daily provide you all with every opportunity to personally share the Good News of the Gospel, meet people at their point of need, and sense the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit as you minister in your first appointments. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” —2 Corinthians 5:17-19 May God Bless the Messengers of Reconciliation!

ORDINATION AND COMMISSIONING 2022
THE COVENANT
Three Steps in the Commissioning of Salvation Army Officers 1. The Signing of the Officer Covenant
The Officer Covenant is signed by a person to be commissioned and ordained. The Covenant is made between that person and God. It is the means whereby a person binds himself or herself to God in the making of solemn vows. The Bible has many examples of believers entering into sacred covenants with God, who accepts their covenants as a serious undertaking. Each person signing the Officer Covenant does so of their own free will, in the clear understanding that the commitment is intended to be lifelong. 2. The Ordination and Commissioning
The Ordination and Commissioning allows the wider membership of the Body of Christ to gather in order to warmly affirm and encourage those about to become officers, and in order to witness publicly the moments of ordination and commissioning. The cadets are helped by the prayers and intercession of the faithful. The cadets declare before many witnesses that they will be loyal to Christ, will hold to the Doctrines of the Army, will be available to the marginalized, and will be obedient to the principles and purposes for which God raised up The Salvation Army. 3. The Appointing
The Appointing is when specific responsibilities are placed upon the newly ordained and commissioned officer. The officer is granted the authority both to serve and to lead within the ranks of The Salvation Army. This is the outward authentication of an inward summons from God, and the imparting to the officer of the obligation to be a servant of all for the sake of Christ.
MESSENGERS OF RECONCILIATION
My Covenant CALLED BY GOD to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as an officer of The Salvation Army
I BIND MYSELF TO HIM IN THIS SOLEMN COVENANT
To Love and serve Him supremely all my days, To Live to win souls and make their salvation the first purpose of my life,
To Care for the poor, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, love the unloved, and befriend those who have no friends,
To Maintain the doctrines and principles of The Salvation Army, and, by God’s grace to prove myself a worthy officer.
Done in the strength of my Lord and Saviour, and in the presence of the Territorial Commander, training school officers and fellow cadets.

ORDINATION AND COMMISSIONING 2022
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH AND PROMISE
The Cadets (standing) will say: In the name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and in the presence of the officers, soldiers, and friends of The Salvation Army here assembled, we declare that:
The Chief Secretary will say: Do you promise faithfully to maintain and proclaim these truths?
1. We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and that they only constitute the Divine rule of Christian faith and practice.
The cadets will reply: We do!
2. We believe that there is only one God, who is infinitely perfect, the Creator, Preserver, and Governor of all things, and who is the only proper object of religious worship. 3. We believe that there are three persons in the Godhead—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, undivided in essence and co–equal in power and glory. 4. We believe that in the person of Jesus Christ the Divine and human natures are united, so that He is truly and properly God and truly and properly man. 5. We believe that our first parents were created in a state of innocency, but by their disobedience they lost their purity and happiness, and that in consequence of their fall all men have become sinners, totally depraved, and as such are justly exposed to the wrath of God. 6. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has by His suffering and death made an atonement for the whole world so that whosoever will may be saved. 7. We believe that repentance towards God, faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and regeneration by the Holy Spirit, are necessary to salvation. 8. We believe that we are justified by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and that he that believeth hath the witness in himself. 9. We believe that continuance in a state of salvation depends upon continued obedient faith in Christ. 10. We believe that it is the privilege of all believers to be wholly sanctified, and that their whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 11. We believe in the immortality of the soul; in the resurrection of the body; in the general judgment at the end of the world; in the eternal happiness of the righteous; and in the endless punishment of the wicked.
The Chief Secretary will say: Do you regard it as your duty to bear this witness everywhere, to strive to lead all persons to their only Savior, and for His sake to care for the poor, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, love the unloved, and befriend those who have no friends? The cadets will reply: We do! The Chief Secretary will say: Do you promise by holy living, boundless charity and adherence to the principles and discipline of the Army to show yourselves at all times to be faithful officers of The Salvation Army? The cadets will reply: We do! The Chief Secretary will say: In the name of God I accept the declarations and promises you have made this day. We will now proceed to your ordination and commissioning.
The officer is offered up to the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit by the intercession of the faithful in Christ. The officer declares by the signing of the covenant and by the commissioning that he or she will be loyal to scriptural truth and, by example in life, word and unsparing service, be true to his or her calling as Christ’s messenger. For the world, for the world, Jesus died, Jesus died, For the world, for the world, There is room in Jesus’ side. All the world to save, to battle we will go, And we ever will our colors boldly show, With a trumpet voice We’ll let the millions know There’s salvation for the world.
2. We’re an Army brave, arrayed in armor bright; We will turn the world from darkness into light; As we march along We’ll shout with all our might: There’s salvation for the world. 3. We’re an Army saved, By Blood and Fire made strong; And with righteousness We mean to conquer wrong; This shall be our universal battle song: There’s salvation for the world. —William James Pearson

O Church, Arise Song 819 1. O Church, arise, And put your armor on; Hear the call of Christ our Captain. For now the weak can say That they are strong In the strength that God has given. With shield of faith and belt of truth, We’ll stand against the devil’s lies; An army bold, whose battle cry is love, Reaching out to those in darkness.
3. Come see the cross, Where love and mercy meet, As the Son of God is stricken; Then see His foes Lie crushed beneath His feet, For the Conqueror has risen! And as the stone is rolled away, And Christ emerges from the grave, This victory march continues till the day Every eye and heart shall see Him.
2. Our call to war, to love the captive soul But to rage against the captor; And with the sword that makes The wounded whole, We will fight with faith and valor. When faced with trials on every side We know the outcome is secure, And Christ will have The prize for which He died, An inheritance of nations.
4. So Spirit, come, put strength in every stride, Give grace for every hurdle, That we may run With faith to win the prize Of a servant good and faithful. As saints of old still line the way, Retelling triumphs of His grace, We hear their calls, and hunger for the day When with Christ we stand in Glory.

AND APPOINTMENT SERVICE
I’ll Go in the Strength of the Lord Song 959 1. I’ll go in the strength of the Lord, In paths He has marked for my feet; I’ll follow the light of His Word, Nor shrink from the dangers I meet. His presence my steps shall attend, His fullness my wants shall supply; On Him, till my journey shall end, My unwavering faith shall rely.
2. I’ll go in the strength of the Lord To work He appoints me to do; In joy which His smile doth afford My soul shall her vigor renew. His wisdom shall guard me from harm, His power my sufficiency prove; I’ll trust His omnipotent arm, And prove His unchangeable love.
I’ll go, I’ll go in the strength, I’ll go in the strength of the Lord; I’ll go, I’ll go in the strength, I’ll go in the strength of the Lord.
3. I’ll go in the strength of the Lord To conflicts which faith will require, His grace as my shield and reward, My courage and zeal shall inspire. Since He gives the word of command To meet and encounter the foe, With His sword of truth in my hand, To suffer and triumph I’ll go.
(Repeat last line after third chorus)
