Others is a Salvation Army initiative using fair trade principles to create jobs and contribute to empowerment and poverty alleviation. We sell beautiful products that are carefully handcrafted by our artisans in Bangladesh and Kenya.
Others artisans are engaged through relationships with local Salvation Army programs that focus on economic development in rural and urban settings. Examples include self-help groups focusing on women’s empowerment and projects for rehabilitation of sex workers or trafficking victims.
Through training, flexible working conditions and fair wages, our aim is to help our artisans to become more independent, helping them to provide for their families, improve their living conditions, and put their children through school. When supporting Others, you contribute to sustainable development in Bangladesh and Kenya.

All Others wooden products are handcrafted by skilled carpenters at our workshop in the city of Jashore, Bangladesh. We use sustainably sourced local wood called Gamari and Albizia Saman. These are typically grown in yards and by roadsides, and sold when a family needs an extra source of income.
The products are sold untreated, but can be treated with a light coating of oil if desired.
