Brief / Background
Tone of Voice
Branding and Art Direction for Adventure Films, a Creatively-led Independent Film Production Company based in Luxembourg.
The Tone of Voice needs to be friendly and warm. The fact that the business is independent and small needs to come across as well as the idea of the unknown and the adventurous. This is achieved through the use of craft, visuals and also copy.
“Film is adventure. And you will need a good friend to accompany you through the journey. We are passionate about film. And we would love to plan and start the next adventure with you. Their clients inspire them to create strong, visual works: from animation or corporate films to TV commercials, web content, music videos and short films.
Target Audience The Target Audience is split into two distinct categories. The first being creative minded people, looking to visualise their idea for a short film, music video or something similar. The flip side of this group of people, are corporate companies, looking for TV commercials or piece of film to help sell their business. Therefore, I needed to balance creativity and professionalism.

Logo
Typography
A custom stencil-like rounded logo has been created which is unique to the Adventure brand. This has the strong Industrial references of an action packed adventure, with a much more rounded friendlier craft and feel which represents the ethos and structure of the brand.
As well as the custom logo, there are two separate fonts that are use for the brand. The first typeface is a headline font and is where the logo has been developed from, Arial Rounded. The second typeface, DIN, is to be used for all body copy and larger sections of type.
Colour
Image Treatment
The client and I decided on a strict colour scheme of Orange, Black and White. We felt this had the perfect balance of being loud enough to shout for attention, whist also keeping that Professional looking edge.
All images are treated in the same way, using a coloured gradient overlay to help inject the brand into the photography usage. This will help combine the type and image in a powerful way to keep the brand omnipresent. Stills from films will also be treated this way.

Triplex Printed
Industrial Qualities
The business cards are triplex printed and die cut with the stencil logo. This helps reinforce the industrial qualities of the brand in a unique and tactile. GF Smith Colour plan Orange stock has been used to encase the Black stock in the middle.
The whole brand has a very industrial look and feel to it. I decided to photography the brand on top of sterling board finish, as well as using lots of stencil-like finishes as this is added to the brand as an extra material swatch and look, and will be used consistently to help reinforce the idea of adventure.

Cover & Pages
Screw & Post Binding
The front cover of the portfolio follows the brand system well. The orange stock is die cut and sits on top of the black stock, much like the business card does. This creates a tactile feature for the cover. The layout and page sizes have been carefully crafted for maximum displaying purposes.
The portfolio has been bound using a screw and post technique. The 2.5cm margin down the left side of the individual leaves leaves enough room for the screw bind to keep the whole book together.

Stationary The basic stationary range includes a letterhead, invoice, compliment slips and envelopes. It’s important to keep a professional edge, whilst also maintaining the bold character of the brand.
As well as the basic range of stationary, further products have been created for the brand. A compact Disk which contains a showreel of the Adventure Films brand will be printed in a larger quantity and handed out to potential clients along with the limited edition ‘ticket style’ business cards which again will be used as creative promotion.

Iconic Quotes
Storyboard Notebook
The collection of 9x postcards are used to help promote the brand to potential clients. The copy has been carefully chosen to help bring the warm and friendly nature of the company across. Quotes have been hand-picked from iconic films to help represent the idea of taking a client on an adventure.
The Storyboard Notebook is a custom designed notepad that can be used for multiple purposes. This ensures that the brand is carried through from the idea stages, right through to the finished delivered piece of film.

Multiple Platforms
Social Media
The brand transfers seamlessly into digital with a responsive website that runs across multiple platforms with ease. The website runs on a simple grid format which shows the navigation bar sitting at the top of the page with a large content container underneath this which contains a variety of different feature images, slideshows and videos. Underneath this is the main content of body copy and external links with a copyright bar at the bottom of every page.
As you can see from the Twitter example above, the brand is further applied to Social Media with ease. The idea of using the bold photography with the bold colour scheme maintains a powerful striking brand and visual.

Materials
The brand is applied even further into the interior and exterior of the studio workspace. Industrial materials are made use of to help reinforce the brand aesthetic. These tie in really well with the concept as well as the execution of the brand.
Sterling Board is a common theme and material used throughout the brand which helps re-inforce the idea of industrial and adventure. This has been proposed to be used within the interiors of the studio space. Corrugated metal has been proposed for the exteriors, influenced very much so by the ‘shipping container’ look and feel. These are decorated with the brand in stencil form. The bright orange colour is used as a feature colour and pairs quite well with the more earthy wooden look and feel.
