Lane.
Concept
The Concept is based purely around the title and lyrics of the song. The main lyric of Inspiration being;“There’s a hole in my neighbourhood down which of late I cannot help but fall.”
Mondays is for drinking to the seldom seen kid I’ve been working on a cocktail called “Grounds For Divorce”, whoa Polishing a compass that I hold in my sleep, whoa Doubt comes in on sticks, but then he kicks like a horse, whoa
Execution
01/03
I chose to use a detailed key line illustration to represent the fragile relationship with his wife as well as his growing relationship with his favourite watering hole. The classic pub stool also reflects this, with the diagonal line representing the bottom of the bar in which he often sits and drinks.
Secret 7 Submission
Mondays is for drinking to the seldom seen kid (Ooh, ooh) There’s this whispering of jokers doing “Flesh by the Pound” To a chorus of supposes from the little town whores
There’s a Chinese cigarette case and the rest you can keep And the rest you can keep And the rest you can keep
There’ll be twisted karaoke at the Aniseed Lounge And I’d bring you further roses but it does you no good And it does me no good And it does you no good
There’s a hole in my neighbourhood Down which of late I cannot help but fall

Execution
Based on the concept and execution of the original track ‘Grounds for Divorce’ I plan to create an extended project which will be a series of Limited edition 7” Vinyls of classic Elbow tracks and supporting material around them.
I chose to use a similar aesthetic to create the cover art for another classic Elbow track ‘Open Arms’. The illustration is again from a chair and is influenced by the lyric:“So with finger rolls and folding chairs and a volley of streamers.”

Secret 7 Submission
You’re a law unto yourself And we don’t suffer dreamers But neither should you walk the earth alone So with finger rolls and folding chairs and a volley of streamers We can be there for tweaks and repairs should you come back home We got open arms for broken hearts Like yours my boy, come home again Tables are for pounding here and when we’ve got you surrounded The man you are will know the boy you were And you’re not the man who fell to earth, you’re the man of La Mancha And we’ve love enough to light the street, cause everybody’s here

We got open arms for broken hearts Like yours my boy, come home again We got open arms for broken hearts Like yours my boy, come home again Everyone’s here, Everyone’s here The moon is out looking for trouble And everyone’s here Everyone’s here, Everyone’s here The moon wants a scrap or a cuddle And everyone’s here We got open arms for broken hearts Like yours my boy, come home again The moon is out looking for trouble The moon wants a scrap or a cuddle The moon is face down in a puddle And everyone’s here

Concept
On a personal level, this brief can be extended into further material which will support the initial artwork. This will result in a series of Limited edition 7 Vinyls for Elbow in a box-set, with additional material.
Extention
The Brief can be extended into visuals for an Elbow Anniversary Tour which could occur in tandem with the release of the Limited Edition Vinyls.
