MICHIGAN 4-H https://www.canr.msu.edu/4h/ The 4-H Future Squad is back in action again and offering virtual skill sessions in 2022 for youth ages 12 to 19! Join the Future Squad on Tuesday, January 18th for their ‘Snips, Snags, and Wandering Buttons’ session all about learning how to rescue your favorite clothes with some basic sewing skills. Hosted virtually from 6:30pm until 7:30pm, participants should gather these supplies before the session: cotton thread, scissors, a sewing needle, 12”x12” fabric (or an old shirt of roughly similar size), and a button. Expect to leave the class with basic sewing and mending skills. For more life skills, enroll in their ‘Workplace Professionalism’ class on Tuesday, January 25th from 6:30pm until 7:30pm. Great for future-minded youths, this session will give tips on how to better manage time, workspace, professional relationships, and setting boundaries. If you have any questions, please contact Laurie Rivetto by email at rivettol@msu.edu All ages are welcome to attend the MSU Horse Judging Team’s Horse Judging Workshop & Practice Contest February 45 at the MSU Pavilion (4310 Farm Lane, East Lansing). Hosted by the MSU Horse Judging Team, this workshop will be an excellent opportunity for 4-H horse judging teams, as well as potential and current MI 4-H judges. On Friday the 4th, carded judge and clinician Alyssa Logan will be focusing on AQHA Ranch Riding judging and scoring from 6:30pm until 8:30pm. On Saturday the 5th, a Practice Contest with Halter, Western Horsemanship, & Ranch Riding will be held at 8:30am in the MSU Pavilion. There will also be an opportunity for participants to be given feedback after their oral reasons. Cost is currently $15 per person to attend and all proceeds of the event will go directly to the MSU Horse

Whether you’re an MSU Extension professional, 4-H volunteer, 4-H member or their families, we hope to see you at this exciting opportunity at the MSU Breslin Student Events Center (534 Birch Road, East Lansing). Game time is TBD and there will be plenty of games and activities to entertain attendees before the game, on the concourse of the Breslin Center. Tickets are Free for MSU Extension 4-H youth and their families, 4-H volunteers and MSU Extension staff and their families! https://www.ohio4h.org/ Calling all older youth age 14-18 who plan to serve as 4-H camp counselors! You are invited to this year’s Making eXtreme Counselors (MXC) – an interactive and quick-paced training that offers innovative camp ideas to new and veteran camp counselors. Don’t miss your chance to participate – the event will be offered in person again in 2022, during the weekend of February 19-20. Registration for the 2022 MXC opened on December 1st and will close on January 31st, at noon, and the cost is $55 per person. At this year’s training, you can participate in a variety of educational sessions that offer something for everyone! In 2022, MXC participants can attend sessions on the following topics: Camp Program Planning, Health, Wellness, and Risk Management, Role Model, and Professional Development. This is an overnight training camp and more updates will be posted on the following website: https://ohio4h.org/camp/mcx-workshop Come one, come all to the Virtual State 4H Horse Advisor and Volunteer Training Session beginning on January 28th, 2022 and available until January 31st, 2022. Attendees can view the presentations at their own pace and the information modules will be available for viewing starting at 9am on January 28th until 9pm on January 31st. Registered participants will be sent a link for an optional Q&A Zoom meeting that will take place on January 30th from 10am until 12pm and will be hosted by the Ohio State 4-H Horse Advisory Committee. The training is free to attend, although a laptop or tablet with internet capabilities will be required to access the materials. Online registrations are due by 11:59pm on January 22nd, 2022.
