from Father Jude
To the Pastor and Priests, Parishioners and School Community of St Mary’s, Peace and Blessings of the Lord! This is Fr. Jude sending greetings and thanks from Nigeria. I continue to savor and cherish my time with you. Your patient acceptance of me was encouraging and affirming for me. Your resounding sendoff and reception for me was even more mind-blowing and touching! Even before the reception day, many have reached out to me in cash and in kind, for me and my people back home. The reception day was prefaced by a heavy snowstorm. One would have expected that people keep indoors and keep safe. But here you come, filing out for my last Mass and reception! I felt so greatly honored, though undeservedly. You filled me with joy and contentment! I wish to use this opportunity to thank you all for your love, kindness and hospitality, and for the many gifts you showered on me and my people. When I tell my people how graciously and generously you sent me off, they are also happy and grateful. God bless and replenish and reward you all abundantly! After the vagaries of international travel these days, I arrived in Nigeria safe and sound. And I feel safe and secure so far, despite any rumblings in the region. My Bishop graciously granted me a time of Grace to holiday, rest and re-organize before any talk of another assignment. So that’s what I’m doing now. In the faith, hope and love that we share, and that bind us together, I pledge continued solidarity with you in mutual prayer and spiritual support. Thanks, and God bless you all! Fr. Jude

If you are holding onto a grudge, let this be the sign you need to let it go. Let this week be the week you break free from the grudges that hold you down.

Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Prayers for Eucharistic Adoration Precious God, I thank You for sending Your Son who took some bread, blessed it and broke it saying, “Take it: this is My body.” Your Son also took a cup and gave thanks, He gave it to Your disciples who all drank from it saying, “This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.” Today, Lord, we are the many, we have come to give thanks for and partake in the sacrifice that You made for us, Amen. (Mark 14:22-24) Eternal Savior, Your Son came on this earth so that He could be the bread of life! Thank You, Lord, because those who come to You shall not hunger, and those who believe in You will never thirst. Thank You for satisfying our hunger and quenching our thirst! Because of You, we are made whole, because of Your sacrifice we are free! Precious Lamb, we do not take what You did for us for granted, Amen. (John 6:35) Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with Benediction Mondays 3:00 - 5:00 PM in the Church
Dear Lord, You sent Your Son as the living bread that came down out of heaven. You promised that if anyone eats of this bread, they will live forever. The bread which You gave for the life of the world was Your flesh. Father, I am eternally grateful for the sacrifice that You made. You gave Yourself for the world, and You would do it all over again even if it was only to save me! I love You, Lord, Amen. (John 6:51)
Holy God, Your word says that unless I eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, I will have no life in myself! He who eats Your flesh and drinks Your blood has eternal life, and You will raise him up on the last day, for Your flesh is true food, and Your blood is the true drink! I thank You for giving us life! We gather to have life and have it more abundantly in You as we partake in the Eucharist, Amen. (John 6:53-57)
Blessed Father, even when Your Son knew that His hour had come that He would depart of this world to You in heaven, having loved Your own (disciples) who were in the world, You loved them to the end. During the supper, the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas to betray Jesus, but You still let Your Son die, so that He could rise and fulfill the law, and save us from eternal condemnation! Thank You for loving us so much, Father, Amen. (John 13:1-4)
Society of St. Vincent de Paul In today’s Gospel Jesus gives us the challenge to: “Love your enemies… Give to everyone who asks of you… Do to others as you would have them do to you…Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Religious Education A vision of St. Teresa of Avila sees her students as spacious castles, bright and enduring as a diamond. Seeing this beauty in our Grade 2 students, we were so happy to gather God’s delight in preparation of the sacrament of First Reconciliation. “For they are his workmanship, created in Christ which God prepared beforehand” (Eph 2:10). A guided parable reading, meditative walk with Jesus and partaking in the Act of Contrition Prayer in St. Mary fellowship filled every heart with joy. Inviting questions, one student asked “Why the Virgin Mary is not pinned to the Cross with Jesus?” Another commented that “Confession is the way to step past wrong actions for good!” Looking at these children, indeed I saw them as castles of wonder where God himself lives. Special thank you to the catechists who volunteered their time and generosity of love: Mrs. Morrissey, Mrs. St. Jeanos, Mrs. Barry, Mrs. Gordon and Mrs. Trunz. Thank you to all parents who attended my presentations to review directives for both First Holy Communion and Confirmation. We look forward to the coming of Spring and the sacramental joy it brings. Blessings, Mrs. Granieri An Old Springtime Hymn Our God whose wisdom made the earth Guides the rolling year, Snowflakes, roses, red leaves falling, And arbutus dear. But among the types of beauty That the seasons bring, Best of all, the heart of childhood Loves the gladsome spring.
RCIA and Adult Faith Formation RCIA Study the Sacrament of Reconciliation The RCIA candidates are continuing their study of the Sacrament of Reconciliation so they will understand the concepts of sin and forgiveness and how it all comes together in this Sacrament. They will learn about the types of sin, how sin alienates ourselves from others and the importance of personal forgiveness as well as God’s forgiveness. They will learn the steps involved in the reception of the Sacrament and how God’s love for them is always there. Do keep them in your prayers. Sister Teresa can be contacted about our RCIA and other Adult Faith Formation programs at 516-627-0385, ext. 1010. Her office hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10:00AM and 4:00PM and other times by appointment.

The Schools of Saint Mary Super Success for the Catholic Schools Week Celebration Catholic School’s Week is a highly anticipated annual celebration to share friendship, faith, and fun with our Saint Mary’s family. Our faculty and administration put their all into creating a weeklong schedule that highlights all we do to educate the whole child throughout the year in mind, body and spirit. While a significant snowstorm impacted families from traveling to campus for this year’s Sunday kick-off Mass and Open House, the festivities, academic challenges, faith, and school spirit were abundant throughout the week. Events included Holy Hour, Mass, Feast of St. Blaise throat blessings, Buddy Day, Fitness Challenge, Art Tours, Quiz Bowls, and more! According to Co-principal Mrs. Sarah Griffin, “Each day was a new and unique celebration of our human dignity and God-given gifts and talents. Our whole-student approach is unique to public schools and even other Catholic schools because everything we do is to Jesus, through Mary.” Please visit our Instagram page @stmaryses for more exciting photos of the week! For more information on our programs for students in grades N-8 or to schedule a tour of St. Mary’s Elementary School, please contact Mrs. Norma Stafford, director of admissions, at 516-627-0184 or nstafford@stmary.ws.

Rainbows' programs help children who are grieving the loss of a parent or guardian due to death, divorce/separation, deployment, deportation, incarceration or trauma. While a few children are resilient, we know that most do not bounce back without help.
All meetings will take place at Notre Dame School 25 Mayfair Road New Hyde Park, NY 11040
Rainbows is a peer support group with caring trained adults to guide the children. The purpose of the curriculum of Rainbows is to provide these children with an opportunity to meet new friends who have shared similar experiences; to have the children sort through and understand their grief; and to help them come to a healthy acceptance of what has happened in their family.
For more information or if you would like to register your child to attend these Rainbows meetings, please email Dee Farishian at dfsocmin@gmail.com.
Retrouvaille Weekend
AMAZONSmile for St. Mary’s
You Can Help Heal Your Marriage Do you feel alone? Are you frustrated or angry with each other? Do you argue or have you just stopped talking to each other? Does talking about it only make it worse? The Retrouvaille Program is for married couples facing difficult challenges in their relationships. It is primarily a practical program to improve communication, build stronger marriages and help couples reconnect. Presenters are not trained marriages counselors, but rather couples sharing their personal stories of marital struggles and the tools they used to rediscover their love. For confidential information about the Retrouvaille program, or to register for the upcoming weekend that begins on Friday, May 13, 2022, please visit our website www.helpourmarriage.org or call 1-800-470-2230 and you will be connected directly and confidentially to a couple from Long Island/Metro Retrouvaille who can help. Location: Immaculate Conception, Huntington, NY 440 West Neck Road Huntington, NY 11743
The Church and Schools of Saint Mary have partnered with AmazonSmile. Each time you make a purchase on Smile.Amazon.com, a portion of the sales will be donated to St. Mary’s at no additional cost to you. It’s the same products, same prices, same services as the Amazon you know. Choose St. Mary’s as your favorite charity, and you will be shopping and supporting a great cause at the same time! All donations received from this program will be divided among the parish, high school and elementary school. We encourage you to sign up today!
What should I do if I suspect a child is being abused? If you or someone you know has experienced an incident of sexual abuse by clergy, employee or volunteer of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, please contact law enforcement and the Office for the Protection of Children and Young People. CONFIDENTIAL HOTLINE NUMBER: 516-594-9063.
