From the Pastor’s Desk Dear Parishioners,

“Overjoyed...they prostrated themselves and did Him homage.” (Matthew 2:10-11) This Christmas Season’s Feast of the Epiphany is the continuation of the plan of God for the salvation of the world. On Christmas Day, the message of the birth of the Messiah, Jesus, was first revealed to the shepherds. Those shepherds represent the forgotten and lost children of the House of Israel. Now the Magi or astrologers come to do homage to the Christ Child. They have traveled from afar and have gone through difficult moments to seek and find the Savior. Now salvation is offered, not just to the children of Israel, but to all the world, Jews and Gentiles alike. The Magi sought Jesus and would not stop until they found Him. They left all they knew and that which was comfortable to go on a journey that took them to a faraway place. They did not know what they would encounter, yet faith drew them to seek and gaze upon the newborn King, even for just a moment. What a great metaphor for each of us! Our faith calls us to seek Jesus each and every day. To see, sense, and feel His loving presence - a presence that beckons and invites us to the call of continuing conversion. In this New Year of God’s grace, the Magi remind us that we are called to that journey, to leave behind our old lives, and seek him anew. This Jesus beckons us to follow Him, not from the light of a star in the heavens, but rather through His eternal and life-giving Word. This same Jesus calls us to the holy and venerable altar to receive the most sacred Body and Blood of the newborn and eternal King. Come, my brothers and sisters; do not be afraid to follow Jesus in His path of peace. May we seek Jesus each day and embrace the wisdom that I have seen on bumper stickers which say, “Wise men still seek Him.” On behalf of myself, Fr. Anthony, and Fr. Raf, we would like to thank those parishioners who sent us cards and monetary, food, and drink gifts for Christmas. They were greatly appreciated. I pray that your New Year will be filled with the Joy of Jesus, health, faith, and peace. In Jesus and Mary, Fr. Bob Fr. Bob blessing the creche at the beginning of Midnight Mass, December 24th, 2024

Performing Arts Program Brings Scrooge to Life The Saint Mary’s High School Performing Arts Program brought “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens to life on stage as their fall production. The cast and crew of over 30 students under the director of Mr. Brian Stalter delighted audiences with three spectacular performances December 6-8, 2024. The two-act play, from the Streets of London to the Visits of the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, recounted the story of Ebenezer Scrooge. Our multi-talented actors took the audience on a journey of reflection and empathy as they witnessed the transformation of a cold-hearted miser into a man whose heart becomes warmed by Christmas. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew on an enjoyable, engaging play that left a lasting impact just in time for the season celebrating the birth of Jesus!

Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament ADORATION PRAYERS Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

The Real Presence of Jesus The whole world should tremble and heaven rejoice, when Christ, the Son of the living God, is present on the altar in the hands of the priest. What wonderful majesty! What stupendous condescension! O sublime humility! O humble sublimity! That the Lord of the whole universe, God and the Son of God, should humble himself like this and hide under the form of a little bread for our salvation. Look at God’s condescension, my brothers, and pour out your hearts before him, humble yourselves that you may be exalted by him. - St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226)

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to possess you within my soul. Since I am unable now to receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as being already there, and unite myself wholly to you. Never, never permit me to be separated from you. - St. Alphonsus Liguori (1696-1787)

with Closing Benediction Mondays 3:00 - 5:00 PM in the Church

Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament O Jesus, present in the Sacrament of the Altar, teach all nations to serve you with a willing heart, knowing that to serve God is to reign. May your sacrament, O Jesus, be light to the mind, strength to the will, joy to the heart. May it be the support for the weak, the comfort for the suffering, the wayfaring bread of salvation for the dying, and, for all, the pledge of future glory. - St. Pope John XXIII (1881-1963)
