FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: My son/daughter is not a good test taker - will they be admitted to Saint Viator? A: Think of the test your son/daughter is taking more as a placement exam for proper class placement vs. an entrance exam to the high school. Q: What will registration for classes look like? A: In early February you will receive an acceptance letter with information about scheduling your registration appointment. At this meeting, you will meet one-on-one with a Saint Viator staff member (teacher or counselor) who will walk you through the registration process and your son/daughter’s course selection. Q: What are Saint Viator’s graduation requirements? A: As a college-preparatory high school, we are constantly evaluating how our graduation requirements match up with the colleges our students want to attend. Currently, graduation requirements are as follows: English - 4 years, Theology - 4 years, Social Studies - 3 years, Mathematics - 3 years, Modern World Language - 2 years, Physical Education/Health - 2 years, Fine Arts - 0.5 years, Computer Technology - 0.5 years, additional electives - 2 years. Q: What is the dress code? Is there a uniform? A: Saint Viator students all wear Lands’ End uniform pants (navy blue or khaki) and a dress code polo. Students can wear dress shoes, tennis shoes, or any closed-toe shoes, but always with socks. Students can also wear the Red Lion Jacket, Red Lion Fleece, or Red Lion Crew Neck on top of the dress-code polo. From May to September, students can wear chino-style shorts and sandals.

Q: How will my son/daughter’s counselor help with academic planning? A: During freshman year, counselors will work with students to create a Four-Year Plan which will map out a student’s four years of course selection and ensure they meet graduation requirements. This is a flexible document that can be changed from year to year if needed. Counselors also work with students each year to help them register for future classes. If you have additional questions, the counseling team is here to help. Outside of assisting with course selection, Saint Viator’s counselors meet with students individually and in classroom settings multiple times each semester to cover study skills, healthy choices, and college/career discernment.
