ABOUT US A French Guiana-based company, Nature Amazonie was born in 2010 from Enite Gérard’s desire to use her heritage and create a range of cosmetics inspired from native traditional recipes and remedies. All products are carefully formulated in local laboratories with 100% natural, vegan, fair-trade ingredients, for modern women wishing to reduce their exposure to chemicals found in regular beauty products. Located in South America, on the Atlantic littoral, just north of Brazil, French Guiana is a tropical gem that flourishes on the edge of the Amazonian rainforest. This French Territory has developed its own culture, inherited from centuries of know-how and rituals, which includes traditional, unconventional medicine and natural remedies using indigenous fruits and nuts. At Nature Amazonie, we only work with nearby, 100% natural resources, and we only source our raw material from co-op harvesters. Fruits and nuts are harvested in the forest, and transformed immediately to ensure the best conservation. For years, Enite Gérard has worked with chemists to develop unique formulas and to ensure that plants and fruits’ proven efficiency over centuries can be used to their greatest benefit. The Amazonian rainforest remains one of the most mysterious areas of our planet; its unique biodiversity is still being slowly uncovered by the scientific community. Discover all the Amazonian women’s beauty secrets!

WE USE AMAZONIA’S BEST RESOURCES BACURI

CARAPA

CUPUAÇU

Bacuri grows as a bunch and looks like a papaya. Its thick skin hides a soft white flesh with a high concentration of tripalmitin and palmitoleic fatty acid. Known to efficiently awaken and hydrate fatigued, dull or stained skins, Amazonian women use it to treat acne and pimples.

Traditionally used for its anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties, carapa oil is produced from the seeds of the carapa fruit. High in olein, and palmitin, women use it to moisturize their skin and give it a soft touch. They also use it to prevent bruises, and to repel hematophaegous insects (mosquitos, ticks…) or soothe itchy bites.

A cousin to cacao, this tough coconut-alike exterior hides a cottony immaculate flesh, and big seeds. With high water absorption properties, this fruit helps in hydrating the skin naturally and deeply. Its scent is often described as a mix of cacao and pineapple.

MARACUJA

PRACAXI

MURU-MURU

Maracuja is the exotic name of the passion fruit. Highly concentrated in fatty acid and omega 6, it is used by women to moisturize and relax their skin or leave their hair light and glossy, while perfuming it with its soft, exotic scent.

This big almond-looking nut produces an oil renowned for its healing and regenerating properties. It is indeed composed mostly of oleic, linoleic and behenic acids, all three known to accelerate the healing of skin lesions. In Amazonia, it is used to reduce pregnancy-induced stretch marks, scars, or aging spots.

The seeds of the murumuru fruit produce a butter rich in lauric, myristic and oleic acid. Often used in soaps, it leaves a protection layer on the skin similar to silicone, but does not clog the pores; it is also an excellent treatment for dry and tired skins. In hair products, murumuru butter helps maintain curls, while nourishing and strengthening hair roots.

vegetal oils

MARACUJA OIL hydrates and relaxes the skin, soothes the mind. This oil helps restore the surface layer of the skin. Used in the hair, it makes it lighter and shinier.

PRACAXI OIL With a light hazelnut scent, this oil has healing and moisturizing properties; it is used by Amazonians to heal the skin in case of stretch marks, scars or stains.
