Greetings from the GM March was ferocious! Snow flurries one day and then highs in the 80’s the next day, but it was a great month for the club. The golf course is greening up nicely and has come through the winter in fantastic condition. The new projects on the Practice Facility and the Fourth Tee have been completed and will be a great addition to our course. Men’s and Ladies Leagues will begin this month as well. On the Social side, Chef Eric and his team have rolled out the new menu and we are all very excited to try the new options. Moving into April, we are really excited for all the new events we have planned. For our golfers, we have some very exciting news! We will be getting a new fleet of golf carts on property, hopefully before month end. Our existing fleet has served us well over the past 7 seasons, but mechanical difficulties have made the new fleet imperative. There is also great news on the Food and Beverage front. As we continue to tweak our new spring menu, please give us your feedback on what you like as well as what needs to change. SCC-to-Go is also available for a quick take out lunch. Look for the weekly menus to see what the team has dreamed up. Events to look forward to in April include: • Easter Brunch and Egg Hunt on April 16th • Ladies Clinics begin April 11th • Agave Tasting and Prime Rib Night on April 20th April is going to be a great month at the Club! I hope you’re able to come out for some of the events we have planned and enjoy this great Kansas spring with us. Thank you all for being members of Salina Country Club! It’s a very exciting time for our Club and I’m very grateful that you’ve chosen to join us! See you at the Club, Brad McMillan

Randy’s Corner Golf season is upon us! We’re excited about all of the junior programs to be offered at SCC this year. In addition to our regular summer junior programs, we will be introducing SCC Junior Summer Sports. This program will be scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays in June and July and include golf, tennis, swimming and lunch. Other junior programs this season include Li’l Rob’s after school clinics, which are already in full swing and will be continuing through May, followed by the regular summer SCC Junior Golf program on Wednesday mornings in June. Another series of after school clinics will be held in the fall. There are going to be many options and opportunities for the kids to have fun and learn this year. Call the Pro Shop for more information on all Junior Golf Programs. Men’s and Women’s Leagues will begin in April and are open to any and all SCC golfing members. Men’s League sign up will be by team. If you would like to play and do not have a team be sure to call the Pro Shop since teams are always looking for players. Women’s League will be signing up individually. The Pro Shop will divide players into 2 teams for the season. The Ladies Golf Association will begin their season in April with the annual social on the 4th, and weekly play starting the following week. Also, the “Get Golf Ready” Ladies Clinics will begin on Tuesday, April 11th and continue throughout the season. All clinics begin at 5:30 pm, are for everyone from beginners to experienced golfers, and are free! The 2017 Golf Calendar is available on the SCC website and hard copies are available at the Pro Shop counter. All golf policies and prices for this year are also available on the SCC website. As always, for more information please call the Pro Shop and we’ll be happy to assist. I’m looking forward to a great 2017 season at Salina Country Club! See you on the links, Randy

The Setup
Spring is here and soon the clubhouse and golf course will be bustling with activity. Easter is almost upon us and we are looking forward to offering our members the best Easter Buffet in town! Make your reservations early and get a table with the greatest view in Salina! The Easter Bunny will also be making a special appearance so parents remember to bring your cameras and capture the memories. I would like to formally introduce Jennifer (Jenni) Haug to our family as our new Food & Beverage Manger. She will be helping me continue the training of the service staff and making sure that every dining experience is meeting your expectations. April also marks the return of the Chef ’s tasting dinner. This month his menu will feature dishes made with truffles. We will also be starting a new liquor tasting series that will take place every two months. This month will feature liquors made from the agave plant. We will have a representative from Standard Beverage to introduce you to some flaverful and unique liquors. Five dollars gets you into the tasting to try five to six different items with a cheese platter to snack on. We will also offer Prime Rib that evening so come for the tasting and stay for the food. Make sure to check your calendar and make your reservations now. Enjoy the good times! Steven
Chris’s Comments
Spring is most definitely here! The golf course continues to get greener by the day. The course is really taking shape and the mowers have been getting a good workout to prepare us for the busy season ahead. The course looks about three weeks ahead of schedule, and the fairways are no exception. The fairways have already been mowed and are really looking nice for this time of year. This season is usually the time when we begin putting the herbicide down to take care of the weeds and start fertilizing the cool season turf. Other than keeping up with the mowing, the golf maintenance staff has been hard at work with various tasks to make the course the best it can be. We just finished the new stairs leading to the upper mats from the parking circle at the driving range. This new renovation will hopefully make it so everyone can access the mats from the designated parking. The fairway on #1 also had a little reshaping done to straighten the lines and provide better definition. The sod we cut out was repurposed to fill in the bare area on #14 where the old cart path was removed.
The crew has done an outstanding job completing all the projects so far this year, and its only April! We are all very excited for this golf season and as always we work every day to provide the best possible playing conditions. Thank you and see you on the course. Chris

In the Kitchen Hello Everyone Spring is by far my favorite season of the year! We have had the opportunity to stock our larder with some of last season’s vegetables through traditional preservation techniques such as pickling and canning. As we usher in the new lineup of items for our menu revisions, we are still able to add a pop of brightness from the winter. Speaking of the new menu, the process is in full swing and you should be able to try some of our new items by the time this newsletter is released. There were a few items on our last menu that didn’t make the cut, however, we were able to upgrade some of the items that were well received by you, our members. Our new menu items are exciting and allow for various seasonal items as we move forward throughout the year. We welcome you to come in and try our new additions and weekly specials. We had a lot of success last month and I would like to thank you for your patronage on our monthly Prime Rib Night, Burger Night, St. Patrick’s Day Buffet, and last week’s Ladies Night Out event. You can expect more of these events in the coming weeks, as well as exciting new tastings! April 5th is the kick off of Men’s League Stag Night. Please come join us at the grill on the patio for some roasted meats and various accompaniments. As previously mentioned, we will be hosting two new tastings next month including an Agave and Truffle tasting. We will be providing more details on these events closer to the end of the month. Lastly, we will be hosting Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 16th. Bring the family for a wonderful meal, photos with the Easter Bunny, and an Easter egg hunt for the kiddos at 12:00 pm and again at 2:00 pm. The weather forecast is looking promising so come join us for a bite and or drink on Johnny’s patio. The warm weather food will be waiting for you! Chef Eric
