December was an incredible month at the Club. I would be remiss if I didn’t say a very special thank you to Wanda and her team. I thought the Club decorations were absolutely spectacular this year! December was full of fantastic member events, and I sincerely hope that you were able to come out and take advantage of everything your Club has to offer. Breakfast with Santa was a ton of fun, Christmas Eve dinner was huge, and the members danced the night away at the New Year’s Eve Party. There will be plenty of activity in January as well. Keep your eyes open for some exciting Food and Beverage happenings, as well as some changes in our menus for the winter season. The new Johnny’s Up has been a big hit so far, and it’s been great seeing all of the interactions between members. Chef will continue to offer weekly special nights to bring you out of the cold this month. So make sure you come out to the Club to follow the Chiefs playoff run, and root for the Jayhawks or Wildcats to be victorious on the court. Also be sure to check out our SCC Happy Hour specials available every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 4-6pm. Once again, thank you all for being members of Salina Country Club! It’s a very exciting time for our Club and I’m very grateful that you’ve chosen to join us! See you at the Club, Brad McMillan

Welcome to a new year at the Salina Country Club. I just want to start off by saying, I know I have big shoes to fill and I will work tirelessly to make sure that this transition goes as smoothly as possible. I want to thank each and every member of Salina Country Club for allowing me this opportunity. I appreciate all of the support that you have shown me. This next year will be fun and we will try out some new ideas for tournaments to get more participation. Golf rounds and participation have stayed very close to last year in every category. The 2018 golf schedule will be finalized in the next few weeks. Until then, if you have any questions about tournament dates please give us a call. In the meantime we wanted to offer a few reminders and specials for the winter months:
Winter Cart Policy: During the winter months please keep carts in the rough as much as possible. Please use the 90 degree rule when crossing the fairway. This will help the condition of the fairways going into spring. Pro Shop Sale: We are making room for 2018 spring merchandise so stop by the Pro Shop this month for some great buys on clothing and equipment. Discounts up to 75% off! Re-Grip Special: This is always a good time to make sure your clubs are ready for the new season, especially grips. Our re-grip special will continue through January (re-grip the irons and hybrids, get the woods re-gripped for free). Club Storage: Winter or summer, the worst thing you can do to your golf clubs is store them in the trunk of your car. Extreme cold and hot temperatures can cause the club heads to loosen, and will deteriorate grips over time. If you are not currently taking advantage of SCC club storage, consider it for 2018. Club storage charge for the year is $150 which includes storage, cleaning after each round, handling of bags to and from carts, and minor club repairs.
Handicaps: Please notify the Pro Shop if you do not want a handicap for 2018. The club will be billed in February for each name on the handicap list so if you are still on the list as of January 31st you will be charged for a handicap. Thank you for your support and for a great turn out for the Christmas Open House. It was one of the best attended Open Houses we have had in a few years. Thank you again for your support and I am looking forward to seeing everyone in the New Year! Rob Carlson

Fore Up
Winter has arrived with the beginning of the new year and looks like it might stay around for most of the month. People always wonder what we do when it’s this cold out. Each year, we take this time to apply a fresh coat of paint on all the tee markers, yardage posts, enter/exit posts, and then re-stain the trashcans. We also repaint our equipment and sharpen all the mowers to provide the best possible playing conditions. Occasionally, when it is slightly less cold, we will also bundle up to cut brush and trim trees to keep the course tidy. The crew has been doing a great job completing all of this preparation work so the course will be in great shape next year. Next month I am excited that we will be busy with the start of our fairway conversions. Once we finish the fairways in mid-March the mowers will be on the course making the first cuts of the year. The “off-season” always goes quickly for the maintenance crew and then we are ready golf season to begin, and I am sure we are not alone! It is hard to believe January is here and before you know it we will be in the heat of July. I hope this year brings happiness to you all and we wish you a happy new year from the Salina Country Club Golf Course Maintenance Team. Last year was a good year and we look forward to more improvements this year. I appreciate all the support from the membership and I am always open to hear your suggestions. You can stop by the shop or email me at crice@troon.com. Thank you again for a great 2017!

Happy New Year to Everyone, We are excited for the upcoming year here at Salina Country Club. The success of Johnny’s Up has been a fantastic experience and we are continuing to make improvements in the offerings available to the membership. Look for both a new Bar Bites Menu and a new Signature Cocktail Menu this month. I also plan to have some fun with the draft beer now available in member dining. We are looking at having one signature beer that will always be available and have another that will constantly change. Being able to bring in different beers throughout the year will keep things fresh and interesting all year long. We also plan to beef up the social calendar for the full year including more regular Chef’s Tastings, Ladies Nights Out, and Wine Dinners alongside our traditional holiday festivities all year long. We look forward to you all joining us as we strive to make this the best year yet. Enjoy the good times! Steven
Join us every Tuesday for specialty tacos, rice, beans, chips, salsa, and churros!

Hello Everyone! We have all bid 2017 a fond farewell. It ended with a bang with all of you that joined us for the New Year’s Eve Party, which was a huge success. For all of those who did not make it, we had an open bar and several food stations including: ramen, steakhouse, raw bar, salad and ice cream sandwich. We appreciated everyone who chose to ring in 2018 with us. Now that January is here we are back to our scheduled dining nights in the Grill Room. There will be Prime Rib Night, Taco Tuesdays, Weekend Prix Fixes, and the return of Sushi Social to enjoy this month. Also keep and eye out for our “Snacks” menu that will exclusive to Johnny’s Up. I hope to see you all soon! Take Care Chef
