Greetings from the GM! Summer is officially upon us. The pool is open, the golf course is rounding into summer shape, and the tennis courts are busy! June is always a very active month at the Club, and will be even busier this year. As you are aware, the Kickoff Party was moved to Saturday, June 2nd, and should be a great time for the whole family. We are all looking forward to the band, the food, and trying some new games for both young and old. June is also Charities month. It has always been with a sense of pride that Salina Country Club has helped this organization raise money that in turn directly helps our community. I hope that you have had the chance to sample Chef’s new menu, if not come out and choose your favorite. Please do continue to give us feedback, as that is the way that we are able to make adjustments to the menu and cater it to better suit the needs and wants of the membership. Events that you should be aware of: Summer Kick Off – June 2nd Junior Golf, Tennis, and SCC Summer Sports begins June 4th National Ladies Golf Day – June 5th Tennis Socials– June 6th & June 20th SCC Date Night (with Movie Night for the kids) – June 23rd

We were able to begin the HVAC project in May. The units controlling the old Johnny’s as well as the back of the Grill Room have been replaced. We expect the other units to continue to be replaced as they are available. Once again, thank you so much for choosing to be a Member of Salina Country Club! See you at the Club,

Brad McMillan

First of all, a big congratulations to Bob Vidricksen, who scored a Hole in One on May 27th! The summer portion of the SCC Junior Golf programs will begin on June 6th and continue through June and July. The SCC Summer Junior Golf Program includes weekly clinics covering swing and short game fundamentals, rules and etiquette, and play on the course. We are also a 1st Tee affiliate program! We will also be having a Tournament Prep Group that meets on Wednesday mornings, beginning on June 6th. This Group will be focusing on the preparation for golf tournaments and how to manage every possible situation that might occur during those events. Also this summer, for juniors we will continue the SCC Summer Sports program. In Summer Sports the kids will do golf, tennis, and swimming for 1 hour each. Summer Sports is on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and begins 10:30am. All junior golf schedules and sign up forms are available in the Pro Shop. The month of June also includes the Salina Charities Invitational on June 14th, 15th, and 16th, Couples 9 & Dine on June 30th, Men’s League on Wednesday evenings, Women’s Clinics on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Kansas Cup Matches. Looking ahead to July, the golf course and Pro Shop will be hosting their annual Flag Day Tournament on Wednesday July 4th for anyone that would like to play. All you have to do is make your tee time, show up and play the best you possibly can to see how far you can make it down on holes 1 or 2! It’s going to be another fun summer for golfers of all ages at SCC. As always, please let us know if we can do anything to enhance your golfing enjoyment.

The summer months are upon on us! The golf course is filling in nicely, and the greens are healing from aerification. The spring was rough on everything from the grass, to the trees, to even keeping some of you from being able to get out and golf. Now summer is here it is time for the course to get active. This includes our seasonal help, so we can tackle some of our summer projects. We will be able to keep up on the small details like edging, cart paths, fixing up some of the gazebos, and sodding some of the bare areas on the course. Having extra hands will also allow us to continue to replace the fence along Country Club Road and some tree trimming, which is a never ending task. In general, the appearance of the course will improve. The warm weather will also help the fairways and the greens. The hot weather will not help the rough other than slowing it down a bit, which is why the in-season cart rules will apply until the fall. That being said, we are asking that you cross the rough to enter the fairway, and then drive down the fairway until you reach the red stake or white painted line and proceed to the cart path. It is very important to follow this guideline to save the rough, which will then save on the amount of seed we have to plant in the fall. The newly sodded fairways have been progressing as planned. We have been fertilizing them weekly. They have rooted down and will soon start filling in. We plan on frequent light topdressing of sand on the newly sodded fairways like we did on #6 & #11. I expect the same result with these holes as well. The team continues to work hard, and we are enjoying the results of all the work they did during the off-season. We strive to continue to provide you with the best possible playing conditions. If you have any complaints or other comments, please do not hesitate to let me know. Thank you!

Chris

The warm weather is finally upon us! With this, the snack bar is now open every day at 11:00am. You can get a burger, a spinach salad, and even a frozen margarita or cold beer. To help jump start the pool season, we are changing up the Summer Kick Off. With the rescheduling of this event, we have decided to host a good old-fashioned pool party! Live music, face painting, a bounce house, and more will all be located down at the pool on Saturday June 2nd. Chef Eric and his team will have the grill down by the pool as well, to provide some good food. We will also have a bar set up for everyone to enjoy a cool beverage.

We have a few good things happening inside the Club as well. On the 21st, Eric and his team will be providing an all-you-can-eat Rib Buffet for dinner. On the 23rd, we will have a special Date Night for our members. Come dine with us in Johnny’s Place via candle light and enjoy a special Prix Fixe Menu with optional wine pairings. We will be hosting a Movie Night that evening, so bring the kids and we’ll keep them entertained while you enjoy a quiet dinner. Reservations are limited to the first 24 members. Enjoy the good times!

Steven Salina Country Club is buzzing with excitement to start our summer programming. Hello Everyone! The month of May was pretty warm, and June is definitely shaping up to be a hot one! We hosted the Herb and Garden Tasting in the Tasting Tavern downstairs. For this tasting, we paid homage to a variety of herbs in every course. I can’t wait to host this event again! On May 22nd, we rolled out a new menu to the membership. I promised to stay on schedule with the seasonal menu change, and it has a good amount of options from which to choose. We’ve added some summer favorites, like the spinach and strawberry salad. We did a new take on our cauliflower appetizer, and introduced a new broccoli and cheese appetizer that I think will quickly gain popularity. There are a variety of panini-style sandwiches, and a power bowl that consists of spinach, sweet potatoes, foraged mushrooms, grains, and lemongrass vinaigrette. Come by the Grill and see what’s cooking! Also coming up in June, we have the Salina Charities Tournament. This year’s menu has been refreshed. Let me know what you think! For all that would like a night out with their spouse, we will be hosting a very special “Date Night”! Come enjoy a 3 to 4 course meal prepared by myself. There will also be a selection of wine and cocktails from which to choose. Stay tuned! This is going to be a fun summer!
