On behalf of the Salina Country Club Board of Directors, I do want to invite all of you to attend the Special Membership meeting on Tuesday, March 13th at 6:00pm All members are welcome to come and give their feedback on important issues. Stock Members will be eligible to vote, and we ask that if you can’t make the meeting, please return your Proxy certificate to the Club. Every member of SCC should have received a letter from the Board, and Stockholders should have received a proxy in their envelopes. If you didn’t receive one, or if you have misplaced it, just ask Tonya at the front desk for another. Once again, thank you so much for choosing to be a Member of Salina Country Club! See you at the Club, Brad McMillan

The tournament calendar is available on the website, as well as all golf related information. We will also have a printed version available in the Pro Shop. The golf season will officially start on March 28th with the Men’s Open Night Golf and Dinner, followed by the Ladies Golf Association Kick Off on April 3rd , and much more to follow. Men’s and Women’s League sign ups will begin March 1st and play will begin in April. Both leagues will see some format changes this year that will add to the fun. Rosters and league rules are available in the Pro Shop. If you would like to play in league and are not yet on a roster please call us. We always have teams looking for players. Beginning April 10th at 5:30pm, and each Tuesday following, we host our Get Ready to Golf instruction clinics and socials for ladies. These clinics are free and available for players of all skill levels including beginners. Make plans to come out for game improvement and fun. The unlimited cart program renewal begins April 1st. Fore Up

The months just keep flying by and all the sudden March is upon us. This is a busy time of year for the golf course. We have several projects ready to begin and all the mowing will be underway soon. The fairway project has started, and #10 is complete. The weather has not been cooperative since we started #12. Who would have thought it was possible to get snow and freezing rain in February? Where is the warm weather we had the last couple years? I am confident we will finish #12 and #14 so it will not interfere with any events we have scheduled for March. This time of year we also start spraying to prevent weeds for the season. We time this with the Redbuds blooming, because they are a good indicator that the soil is warm enough for crabgrass to start germinating. So that’s my tip of the month. Make sure you start thinking about your yard, or just come out and play golf.

I am excited to announce that Dustin Lutz has accepted the assistant superintendent position here at SCC. Dustin is originally from Salina and has been working in Kansas City for the past few years. Dustin will replace Dan who is relocating to Kansas City to be closer to family. Dan has accepted a position at Creekmore Golf Course and we wish him the best. I am excited for Dustin to start his new position, and I know he is happy to be back home in Salina. I know this will be another great year here at the Club. I am ready to get in the routine of the season and smell the fresh cut grass. I hope to see you on the course. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to stop and ask me. Thank you. Chris

Salina Country Club | March 2018

Hello everyone The month of February is now officially over and we are getting closer to ushering in the spring season. We had a great turn out for our Valentine’s Prix Fixe Dinner we held in the Grill Room. We had a couple items that were more popular than expected, however I’m happy for the enormous turn out we had. In March I have plans to roll out a few new culinary experiences for member dining. First we will honor St. Patrick’s Day with a special Corned beef and cabbage dinner, so save March 17th on your calendar. We have our traditional Pasta Night offering again this month on the 14th, and later we will add a twist to your noodles by incorporating a Stir Fry Night on the 27th. There will be a large selection of Asian ingredients to create a wonderful meal.

Next on March 10th we will be hosting an all you can eat Crab Fest. The crabs will be flown in from Maryland and we will have a variety of sides and drink specials to add value to your experience. Please make reservations as soon as possible. We want to be prepared for you. On the 24th we will start the first installment of my “Tide to Table” oyster series. This evening will be dedicated to a tasting of east and west coast oysters and a fine selection of cocktails from Steven. Please make your reservations in advance. Lastly Easter is right around the corner. We hope to see you at the Brunch!! More details to follow. Take Care Chef
