This has been a month of change at Salina Country Club. We’ve said goodbye and thank you to Steven Fowler, as he takes the next step on his journey to beautiful Naples and we get to welcome a new addition to the team. I’m very pleased to introduce you to Christopher Nickell, who will be joining us as the new Food and Beverage Director for Salina Country Club. Chris will be relocating from Avon, Colorado where he was previously the Assistant Food & Beverage Director, overseeing 6 different restaurants, the pool, as well as the Banquets division. Having family across Kansas, Chris, and his girlfriend Laura, will be making the move to Salina. Chris was born and raised in Florida. He obtained his B.S. at Florida Gulf Coast University in Resort & Hospitality Management and then continued to pursue his education through Hodges University; gaining a M.S. in Executive Management. Chris’s professional career has been focused primarily on luxury resorts, working for various properties such as: The Ritz-Carlton Naples Beach, The Four Seasons Palm Beach, The Ritz-Carlton Denver, and Bachelor Gulch. Chris is an outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, and running his two dogs, Remington and Tucker Duke. Chris will begin his new duties on November 6, 2018. Please come out to introduce yourself and welcome him to Salina!
I also want to make you all aware that the Annual Stockholders Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 27th at 6:00 P.M. All members are welcome to come to the meeting, with voting rights being restricted to Stockholders. I hope that you can make it out. Once again, thank you all for being members of Salina Country Club! It’s a very exciting time for our Club and I’m very grateful that you’ve chosen to join us! See you at the Club, Brad McMillan

Thanks to all SCC members for a fun and successful golf season! We had a great turnout for leagues, junior programs, and couples events! Don’t forget that there is still some good golf weather ahead, so don’t put your clubs away just yet. Speaking of weather, this is the time of year when frost delays can occur. If you have a morning tee time it’s always a good idea to call ahead to the Pro Shop to check on weather conditions. We will do our best to accommodate everyone if a delay occurs.
Mark your calendar for the Pro Shop Christmas Open House on Friday, December 7th from 5-7pm. As always we will have plenty of food, wine, great holiday discounts and lots of fun ways to get added discounts! We hope to see you on the golf course and at the Open House! Rob Carlson The fall weather has arrived and so have all the leaves. The trees have been a great color this year, thanks to the cooler weather and some much needed rain. The crew has been busy playing catch up with all of the rain. The course has been rather wet, making maintenance very challenging at times. The seeding was delayed a little bit, but it should come up in time to beat the cold weather. The seed that was planted earlier is doing great. We have mowed a couple times and recently fertilized again. We did go back and reseed some areas that were washed out from the heavy rain.
Fore Up
This time of year also brings frost. Please try to stay off the grass when the frost has set in. I would ask that every player check with the Pro Shop before stepping on the course, putting green, and chipping green as well. Foot traffic on frozen grass causes the plant to break preventing it from recovery. The grass will die and each foot print will be seen all winter. Frost can form at 40 degrees, especially in low areas when there is a clear sky and light or calm winds. We want to keep the course looking nice and have it looking good for next season. Thank you for another great year. I am already to start preparations for next season. If you have any thoughts or comments please contact me. I would love to hear your ideas. Chris

Hello Everyone, Fall is in the air and the new menu has arrived. I would say 75% of the menu has been updated. We decided to keep all of the strong selling items and replace the slower moving options with seasonal ingredients. I would like to let you know we now have a section that focuses on vegetarian and vegan options. We will run with this menu for a month, see what sticks and go back to the drawing board on the dishes that need a little help to improve. Please continue to give us your helpful feedback as we work towards consistency and speed in the kitchen. I am sure you will love our new menu choices.
We want to thank everyone who attended the Fall Family Harvest this last month. We look forward to bringing you more seasonal fun and flavors at our Thanksgiving Brunch and Candlelight Dinner. Be sure to start making your plans and reservations asap! If you have any questions, concerns or feedback on our service feel free to email me at eshelton@troon.com. I look forward to seeing you all at our restaurants soon. Chef Eric

Thank you to everyone that attended the Fall Family Harvest! It was great fun! We loved your kiddos costumes and were excited about the turn out for our Costume Contest! A big Thank you to the KWU Chemistry Club this year. The haunted forest was awesome and the spooky science experiments were a great time. My focus these next few months will be our “Play Now Pay Later initiative. We are welcoming new and former members to join the club with this great offer. The initiation fee has been waived and no membership dues will be billed until March 1st, 2019 with a yearlong agreement. So they can join now and enjoy all the benefits the Club has to offer during the holiday season. It is a truly great way to attract new members. Please let me know if you have a good candidate to join our Club. I promise we will take great care of your friends, family and colleagues during their time here. Please take a minute to like our facebook page Salina Country Club, and follow us on twitter @SalinaCC. You will find all the fun stuff that is going on at the Club that day, week and throughout the month. Melissa
