As I’m writing this, it certainly feels like fall is in the air. There are a number of topics that I want to make sure that you are aware of taking place in October: The first is that Salina Country Club has entered into a contract with Genesis Health Clubs to provide tennis programming at the Club, as well as at Genesis during the winter months. We are all very excited to have an individual with as much experience and expertise as Victor Melo leading our tennis program. There will be changes, as would be expected, and there will be bumps in the road that we will have to work through. That being said, I believe that the quality of the instruction, the organization of the program, and the addition of offerings will elevate the experience and I’m very excited for them to begin. Victor will be reaching out, and we will set up an informational meeting to answer many of the questions that I know you will have. Stay tuned for further information. Second, there will be a Town Hall Meeting called by the Long Range Planning Committee on Tuesday, October 9th at 6pm. The purpose of this meeting is informational only, no vote will be taken. The topic will focus on the possible development of excess Club land and how that could impact the future of the Club. You will have seen the renderings in the front entry way, as well as near the downstairs e ntrance to the Club. I encourage you to attend the meeting, but if you are unable, don’t hesitate to reach out to me and I will make sure that you position is known on the night of the meeting. Saving the best for last, Randy Syring will be inducted into the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame on Thursday, October 18th at 6pm. We are honored to host the event celebrating the fabulous career of Randy Syring. If you would like to attend, please call the Club to reserve your seat as non-members will be coming as well and reservations are required. Please RSVP by October 8th if possible. This is going to be a great night, full of stories and remembrances. I hope you will be able to make it! Once again, thank you so much for choosing to be a Member of Salina Country Club! Brad McMillan

The month of October is a great time to be on the golf course. The trees are changing colors, new is seed growing and there is some great weather on the horizon. This is a busy time for the turf team with the cool-season grass growing like crazy. The warm-season grass is slowing down, so hopefully the mosquitoes will do the same. The projects around the course will pick back up. The main focus will be completing the fence along Country Club Road. Then we will trim the trees and thin out some canopies to allow more light to reach the turf. I would also like to remove the voluntary trees and overgrown weeds between #4 tee box and #17 green to allow more views of the course. The other area we plan to clean up is the trees along the out-of-bounds to the right of #8 to showcase the beautiful Oak trees that are covered up. That way you can appreciate the view from the middle of the fairway instead of looking for your ball out-of-bounds. Another big project will be to improve the bunker on the left side of #5. First, we will remove all the sand, improve the drainage, and lower the face to prevent wash outs from happening. Then we will add new sand and pack it down so it is not soft. It will take some time to settle in but we will speed that process up as much as we can. We do plan on putting this same sand in the forward bunker on the driving range first so you can try it before work starts on #5. I feel the new sand used for fall aerification will work great, but to be sure we will give it a test run first. If you have any questions or comments please ask me when you see me on the course. Thank you.

As some of you may have heard, my time at Salina Country Club will be coming to an end in late October. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank each and every member for making my time at SCC so memorable. This has truly been my favorite club to work at during my time with Troon. Leaving will be bittersweet and more than a few tears will be shed during my final month. The membership as a whole has made me feel welcome and part of the SCC family. I know that Brad, Eric, Julie and the rest of the management team will continue to take overwhelming good care of all of you. I wish you all nothing but the best and may Salina Country Club continue to prosper for many years to come. Fond Farewells, Steven

Hello Everyone!
Fall is here! Autumn is my favorite time of the year second only to the spring. This season we will get to use all the beautiful root vegetables, toasted spice blends and braised meats. As we all know the weather is going to be cooling off and golf traffic will be slowing down. That makes it the perfect time to visit us in one of our dining outlets and get primed up for the quarterly menu revamp. Thank you to everyone who attended the Taste of SCC. We appreciate everyone’s feedback and inquiries about the new menu. It is just right around the corner so please be patient as we finalize some minor details and train our staff.
I would also like to thank each and everyone that came out to support Feast on the Fe. It was a great turnout with a lot of new faces. It’s great to be a part of a community that supports their local farmers, ranchers and artisans. It was a great time, and I am glad I was able to be a part of it. Keep in mind that the holiday season will be here before you know it. We will be offering a Thanksgiving To-Go menu for your convenience starting in November. I’ll see you in the restaurant! Chef Eric
