Richard is a rare performer in that he’s respected by comedians for his original material and by musicians for being an accomplished performer/guitarist. His loyal following confirms his wide appeal, from the younger generation attracted by both his guitar playing and the fact he has inspired many modern-day performers, to the super-loyal who have followed Richard since the time he had his own ITV series and even further when he started out in folk clubs.

The Spooky Men’s Chorale are the gift that keeps on giving... as thunderous as a herd of wildebeest, as sly as a wagonload of Spike Milligans and as sonorous as a cloister of monks. The manchoir emerged blinkingeyed from the Blue Mountains of NSW 15 years ago and, armed with no more than their impressively cavernous vocal chords, a nice line in improbable facial hair and an ill-matched set of hats, have been gleefully wooing audiences throughout Australia, NZ and the UK ever since. “Inspired – and a triumph of choreography! Catch them on the road – a fantastic night out is guaranteed!” Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2

History is put on trial in the riveting true story of Deborah Lipstadt’s legal battle with historian David Irving, who accused her of libel when she declared him a Holocaust denier. Rachel Weiz is on top form as the tenacious Lipstadt, who finds herself in a position where she has to defend herself and prove beyond all doubt that the Holocaust happened, while Timothy Spall is the personification of evil as the scowling, gaunt faced Irving. Adapted by David Hare from Lipstadt’s book about the case, this engrossing courtroom drama digests and presents complex issues with nuance as it builds up to a satisfying conclusion. Comedy & Spoken Word Jonathan Dimbleby: ‘The Battle of the Atlantic: How the Allies Won the War’ Tuesday 25 April
7.30pm (doors open 6.45pm) Tickets: £15 | £13 concessions The Battle of the Atlantic was crucial to the Allied victory. If the German U-boats had prevailed, the maritime artery across the Atlantic would have been severed. Mass hunger would have consumed Britain and the Allied armies would have been prevented from joining in the invasion of Europe. There would have been no D-Day. The Battle of the Atlantic interweaves fascinating contemporary diaries and letters with a thrilling narrative and, uniquely, the overall picture of the Second World War. From senior members of the competing High Commands in London, Washington, Berlin and Moscow down to the humblest sailor, Jonathan Dimbleby tells the epic story of the decisions that led to victory, and the horror and humanity endured in those perilous seas. Ayesha Hazarika started her career as a stand-up comedian playing clubs across the country. She then took what she thought was a natural diversion into the Labour Party as a Special Adviser. Since leaving front line politics she’s returned to her stand-up roots. Her one-woman show Tales from the Pink Bus was a sell-out hit at the 2016 Edinburgh festival and she’s been in huge demand on TV and radio recently starring as a guest on Matt Forde’s Unspun for Dave.
