Course tutors Salisbury Arts Centre delivers over 850 workshops each year and none of it would be possible without a dedicated team of creative folk to help us make imaginations fly. Let’s meet the team...
Simon Davison teaches Filmmakers Anonymous. He is a TV and Film writer, director and composer. His work has included documentaries, adverts and feature films including Captain Eager and the Mark of Voth, starring Tamsin Grieg. He recently directed 5 Greedy Bankers with Pippa Haywood and Ramon Tikaram.
Matthew Dean teaches An Animated Experience. He studied Film and Animation at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth and has been teaching animation at Salisbury Arts Centre for twelve years. He has plenty of experience entertaining young people and creating quality films and animations.
Jennie Gilbert teaches Wednesday Evening Pottery for adults. She is a professional potter. Originally trained in Swansea, she undertook a short apprenticeship in France before setting up her own workshop. She exhibits extensively and has work in collections in the UK and abroad.
Mirka Golden-Hann teaches Pottery classes for all ages. She has been Salisbury Arts Centre’s resident ceramicist since 2009 when she completed her Design Ceramics MA at Bath Spa University with distinction. She is an experienced ceramics teacher, maker and published researcher.

Suzie Gutteridge teaches Feltmaking. She is a professional artist whose work combines a variety of techniques and materials, using predominantly paper, clay/ceramics and wool. She teaches and holds workshops for groups, individuals and schools and has been tutoring the felting courses at Salisbury Arts Centre for five years.
Amie Hawker teaches Adult Contemporary Dance and Jigsaw and Seesaw Youth Dance companies. She is a contemporary dance practitioner and teacher. She has worked and performed with many companies, and was awarded a distinction in an MA in Dance Cultures from the University of Surrey.
Charlotte Moreton teaches Life Sculpture. She trained at the Frink School of Figurative Sculpture and has been creating sculpture and teaching locally in arts centres and schools for fourteen years. Her own professional work is greatly influenced by trees and nature.
Angie Street teaches Writing for Stage. She has worked as a Scriptwriting Tutor with the Open University and is a Script Reader with Bristol’s Tobacco Factory and the TMA judging panel. Her workshops focus on exploring individual creativity using stimulating writing exercises and games.
Claire Williams teaches Play in a Day. She is an artist and workshop practitioner. Over the last few years she has had the honour of operating drama, music and art workshops on a national basis, including work for festivals such as Larmer Tree, Green Man, End of the Road and Kendal Calling.

An Animated Experience with Matthew Dean Tuesday 14 - Thursday 16 February 10am - 4pm | ÂŁ100
An animation short course for young people aged 10 and over. Play with storyboarding, set design, camera angles and lighting to create a short animated film that delves to the depths of the ocean. Matthew Dean will help you bring all your ideas to life through the art of animation and film. Drawing and building skills are useful for this course but not essential.

Play in a Day with Claire Williams Much Ado about Puffin Family Performance Saturday 18 February 11am & 2pm
Join us for some FREE puffin related arts and crafts activities from 12noon 2pm alongside Open Attic Company’s Much Ado about Puffin theatre show. Join Open Attic as they traverse stormy seas and reckless tides to bring you this funny tale about a man all alone, a friendly puffin, and a whole lot of fuss over nothing. Much Ado about Puffin is part of Theatre Fest West 2017. Suitable for ages 4 and over. Tickets go on sale Monday 5 December.

Friday 14 April 10am - 3pm with performance for friends and family at 2.45pm | ÂŁ25 Have you ever thought what adventures you could have if you went under the sea? Perhaps you could discover a sunken shipwreck, meet magical mermaids, discover lost treasure, or swim with magical sea creatures? Let your imagination run wild as our Play in a Day workshop takes you on a magical journey under the sea. This fast paced session is aimed at children aged 8 to 12 years, and will encourage them to use their own wonderful ideas as they plan, create and develop a piece of original theatre using drama, music, art and movement before performing their show to loved ones at the end of the day. A fantastic and fun session not to be missed.

A ten week course for young people aged 14 - 18 years. Salisbury Arts Centre’s resident youth dance company provides high quality dance provision and performance opportunities for gifted dancers. Filmmakers Anonymous with Simon Davison
A ten week course for young people aged 10+ years. Enjoy lively classes full of creativity and discussion in a relaxed atmosphere. Lose yourself in imagination with various 3D ceramic projects. Try numerous hand-building techniques as well as throwing on the potter’s wheel. Come and learn new skills, try things you can’t do at school and support and extend your school art projects.
A ten week course for young people aged 13 - 19 years. Produce finished films from storyboarding to postproduction. Work behind the camera, act in a film or help out on set. Filming around Salisbury Arts Centre and on location, the company has created a wide range of short films that have been screened at the Arts Centre and at UK film festivals. A 5 week course where you will study the work of American artists during the acquisition of American Independence, the Civil War and later 19th Century Paris. Their innovations produced Benjamin West, the 2nd president of the London Royal Academy, the sublime American landscape painters Thomas Cole and Frederick Church and the first American woman, Mary Cassatt who exhibited with the Impressionists in Paris. Workshops go on sale on Monday 21 November online or Tuesday 22 November via the Box Office. Workshops have limited capacity so please book early to avoid disappointment. A limited number of discounted places are available in cases of genuine hardship for individuals who would not otherwise be able to participate. Please call the Box Office for further information. Refunds and exchanges only apply if a workshop is cancelled. In line with most other UK venues, we charge a £1 transaction fee. Ramps or lift provide access to all public areas and two disabled parking spaces are available in the Arts Centre car park. Evening access is via the doors between the church and extension. Please ring the bell and we will come and let you in.
