Course tutors Simon Davison teaches Filmmakers Anonymous. He is a TV and Film writer, director and composer. His work has included documentaries, adverts and feature films including Captain Eager and the Mark of Voth, starring Tamsin Grieg. He recently directed 5 Greedy Bankers with Pippa Haywood and Ramon Tikaram.
Matthew Dean teaches Young Filmmakers and An Animated Experience. He studied Film and Animation at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth and has been teaching animation at Salisbury Arts Centre for 10 years. He has plenty of experience entertaining young people and creating quality films and animations.
Melanie Evans teaches Smarties. She graduated with a First in Textile Art from Winchester School of Art and has worked at Salisbury Arts Centre for four years. She enjoys finding new ways to inspire young children’s creativity and imagination. Her favourite arts and craft activities include potato printing and finger puppets.
Jennie Gilbert teaches Wednesday Evening Pottery for adults. She is a professional potter. Originally trained in Swansea, she undertook a short apprenticeship in France before setting up her own workshop. She exhibits extensively and has work in collections in the UK and abroad.
Mirka Golden-Hann teaches Pottery classes for all ages. She has been Salisbury Arts Centre’s resident ceramicist since 2009 when she completed her Design Ceramics MA at Bath Spa University with distinction. She is an experienced ceramics teacher, maker and published researcher.
Suzie Gutteridge teaches Feltmaking. She is a professional artist whose work combines a variety of techniques and materials, using predominantly paper, clay/ceramics and wool. She teaches and holds workshops for groups, individuals and schools and has been tutoring the felting courses at Salisbury Arts Centre for three years.

Bethan Hammond teaches Street Spirit. She has always had a passion for dance and took street, disco, ballroom, latin and ballet lessons before specialising in contemporary dance. She has a degree in dance from the University of Leeds and a teaching qualification from Bishop Grosseteste University.
Amie Hawker teaches Adult Contemporary Dance and Jigsaw and Seesaw Youth Dance companies. She is a contemporary dance practitioner and teacher. She has worked and performed with many companies, and was recently awarded a distinction in an MA in Dance Cultures from the University of Surrey.
Charlotte Moreton teaches Life Sculpture. She trained at the Frink School of Figurative Sculpture and has been creating sculpture and teaching locally in arts centres and schools for 12 years. Her own professional work is greatly influenced by trees and nature.
Ruth Oliver teaches Learn to Sew with The Make Arcade. She spent over ten years working in hands-on roles within the fashion industry after graduating from the London College of Fashion. Ruth runs a local business called The Make Arcade, teaching sewing workshops and designing crafts products.
Angie Street teaches Writing for Stage. She has worked as a Scriptwriting Tutor with the Open University and is a Script Reader with Bristol’s Tobacco Factory and the TMA judging panel. Her workshops focus on exploring individual creativity using stimulating writing exercises and games.
Antonie Zweers teaches Writing Fiction. He started writing poetry and song lyrics when he was sixteen. He studied languages and literature and has taught creative writing in different countries. His novel Seven Things You Need to Know Before You’re Born was published in 2014, and he is currently working on a second novel.

A five week course for 7 - 11 year olds. Learn the basics of using a sewing machine and cutting a pattern to create a mini cushion cover and bunting for your bedroom or garden. You’ll also learn some applique techniques to make a piece of artwork and unleash your inner designer to create your own unique tote bag!

Learn pottery skills in a friendly and nurturing environment, bursting with energy and creativity. Both groups are a mix of age and ability, offering participants a unique opportunity to not only learn from their teacher but also to be inspired by the achievements of their fellow students. Children are taught various hand-building methods and can even learn to work on the potter’s wheel!

Start the term with underwater themed activities and create your own ‘socktopus’ and snow globe aquarium. You’ll also make a bug hotel, bird feeder, musical instruments and your own costume for the end of term.

Make a treasure chest to store your toys and your very own play mat to create some adventures for them! An Animated Experience with Matthew Dean Tuesday 27 - Thursday 29 October 10am - 4pm ● £100
An animation short course for young people aged 10 and over. Play with storyboarding, set design, camera angles and lighting to create a short animated film inspired by your everyday surroundings. Matthew Dean will help you bring all your ideas to life through the art of animation and film. Drawing and building skills are useful for this course but not essential.
Play in a Day with Anna Harriott
Wednesday 28 October 10am 3.30pm with performance for family and friends at 3pm ● £25 A fun all-day workshop for 8 - 11 year olds to make a play in a day. Spend a day dreaming up the most unbelievable adventure to share with friends and family. With lights, sound effects and your imagination, we could end up on a very Awesome Adventure indeed.

Songwriters with Adam Varney
Tuesdays 22 September 1 December (not 27 October) 4.30 - 6pm ● £68 A ten week course for young people aged 13 - 19 years. Work with professional musicians to explore different types of music and create your own unique style. This is a great way to meet new people who share your love of music and to develop your skills, leading to performance and recording opportunities. You’ll work both individually and in groups to pen your own masterpieces.
Learn to Sew with The Make Arcade
Wednesdays 23 September 21 October 4.30 - 6pm ● £40 (plus materials) A five week course for ages 11 and over. Working with textile designer Ruth Oliver from The Make Arcade, you will learn how to use a sewing machine to create a variety of items including cushions, bags and fabric jewellery. You will also learn sewing skills such as cutting, hemming and finishing techniques as well as how to insert a zipper and use interfacing to make your own lined pencil case or purse. You will even have fun creating your very own PJs!

A ten week course for young people aged 10 - 13 years. Get your first taste of devising and making short films through fun experimentation with creative technical skills. Learn exciting camera tricks, devise new stories and work on imaginative visual ideas, with the option of undertaking an Arts Award. Develop your film skills and confidence to produce work that you can share with the world.
A ten week course for young people aged 13 - 19 years. Produce finished films from storyboarding to postproduction. Work behind the camera, act in a film or help out on set. Filming around Salisbury Arts Centre and on location, the company has created a wide range of short films that have been screened at the Arts Centre and at UK film festivals. A ten week course open to all levels and abilities. Discover a range of techniques and processes using both wet and needle felting. The initial weeks focus on teaching techniques that can then be expanded upon and incorporated into projects in the later sessions as you explore your own ideas.
A ten week course for adults. These fun and friendly sessions are a great way to get fit and keep your body and brain active. The classes are open to all, whatever your experience, giving you the opportunity to practice contemporary dance techniques at your own level. As well as learning some set movement exercises you’ll have the chance to have a go at choreography through creative tasks.
