KEITH SULLIVAN FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF
How long have you worked for SLFS? About a year and a half. What made you want to apply? My friend Ellen mainly! She worked here and told me to apply. What sold me though were the free films and lovely staff, of course. Describe your relationship with film. Why is it important to you? What draws you to it? I mean I’ve lived my whole life with films, most people have I think. So we’ve had a long relationship. But I guess when I fell in love with them was probably high school, films became not just a way for me to relate to my friends but, as I saw more and more, a way for me to understand myself, my crazy emotions and artistic mind. Especially the films of David Lynch and Wes Anderson changed me in that way. And while focused visions, loads of empathy, and surrealites all can draw me in like that, I really just love good film, whatever flavor!

Film fuels DREAMS, IGNITES conscience, and SPARKS community.
What are your hobbies outside of the Film Society? Call me a child (I know you wouldn’t), but I’ve been in love with video games for even longer than I’ve been in love with film! As a kid I basically breathed Nintendo and especially recently there’ve been more and more independent games pushing the medium in
new interesting ways. And now I make them too. Favorites include: Journey, Majora’s Mask, games by Vectorpark, Bloodborne, The Witness, and Night in the Woods. Also meeting nice new people is always an experience I’m open to. Any projects you are currently working on? Sure! Right now, a game involving pretty interactive animations, some story elements, and perhaps some genetically evolved creature things. Should be nice! What is your favorite aspect of working here? Oh, of course it’s my coworkers! Also basically my best friends by now. They’re all so cool and sweet and interesting and have really made this place a home. So say hi sometime (if you want)! What are your hopes for the future of SLFS? Just that it stays open and showing important films for as long as those films are being made. Salt Lake City needs it! What is your favorite movie and why? Oh, this question, alas! Well over the years it’s been many things: Rushmore, La Strada, Eraserhead, 8 ½, Paper Moon, Asparagus. Most recently though, Possession (1981) because it makes me feel C-R-A-Z-Y in a way no other film has. God, that film rocks!
