JOSHUA STODDARD

Tell us about your life outside of SLFS. What are some of your hobbies?

My life outside of SLFS, and in general to be honest, is pretty low-key, which is intentional and what I enjoy. I’m a college student in Computer Science and I like to hang out with friends. I also like to travel when I can. I’ve been to Italy and Peru so far, but I hope to go to more places in the future.

FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF How long have you worked for SLFS?

I’ve worked for SLFS for nearly a year now! Time really flies. It will have been a year in midMay.

What are your hopes for the future of SLFS?

I hope that we can get even more repertory films in the future mainly. I think the Tower is such a good place for stuff like that with the extensive history it already has.

What made you want to apply?

I’ve been coming to the Broadway, and especially the Tower, ever since I can remember. I’ve been seeing and renting movies for years and years. It’s one of the reasons I grew to love movies in the first place, and so it was a place I wanted to work at for a while. The fact I get free movies and popcorn at the theater where I see the most movies doesn’t hurt either.

What is your favorite part of your job?

It’d have to be referring people to movies that I think get passed over or movies that people would not usually go for. I think it’s good to expand artistic horizons as a consumer. It helps to expand people’s horizons, if even a bit.

What is your favorite movie and why?

That is a DIFFICULT question! I have so many favorite movies, but if I had to pick one I think I’d have to pick Andrew Haigh’s Weekend. It’s such an intimate and romantic movie that How would you say film impacts comments so beautifully on how gay people and your life? relationships are perceived in the world today. Film has been a huge part of all of my life. It’s helped me discover myself as I grew up and how I’d also like to mention a couple of my other favorites that way more people should know I view the world. It’s how I learned a lot about about: 3-Iron by Kim Ki-Duk, Cure by Kiyoshi the world as well. Kurosawa, and Irma Vep by Olivier Assayas.
