How long have you worked for SLFS? 289 days
What made you want to apply?
There wasn’t an extensive background check, which is good for me.
What is your favorite aspect of working here?
The best things about working for the SLFS are my coworkers. They have become some of my really close friends. Also I can’t get enough of those blessed movie theater treats like some sweet buttery popcorn or pizza triangles. That soy based butter nectar is so good on popcorn! I have to eat it at least 5 times a day. Love that popcorn nectar; I like to rub it on each individual piece. Word of advice: The next time you order a steamy bag, order a triangle of pizza too, then put the pizza triangle in the middle of your steamy bag. And if someone asks you why you didn’t get a nice pizza triangle to go with your steamy bag of popcorn, you can just say, “Oh, you mean this?” and pull out the pizza from inside the bag of popcorn, where you’ve hidden it. Pretty good gag, huh?
Why is film important to you?
Film is important to me because film is a communal learning experience—a place where we can be with others to be amazed, fall in love, become angry, feel vindicated, and lose or gain faith. We can experience a world of technicolor saturation or the foreboding noir grays,

and then by taking just a few steps, walk back into our everyday world. Movies move us through time while giving us a time out by occupying the very senses that tell us what is real and what is not. Movies can be events in time. Looking back at our lives, some movies are milestones. I can vividly remember the time I took my first girlfriend to see WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE in theaters when I was in 10th grade, or the time I cried while watching AIR BUD as a child. Films can also be companions in times of need. When I was little kid I had an explosive imagination, and I was afraid of everything. I could never fall asleep at night because my brain was too busy thinking about all the ways I would end up dead by morning. I would think about all sorts of atrocities, like getting murdered by a burglar or being abducted by aliens (things that I think would be fun now). The only way I’d stay in my room at night was if my parents played movies for me. I have peacefully fallen asleep countless times to Groucho Marx jokes and TOMMY BOY. That was the first time in my life film became

something more to me than just a way to pass time.
What do you like to do during your free time? I like to think about that sweet popcorn nectar.
What are your hopes for the future of SLFS?
This quote efficiently conveys everything I hope for the SLFS: “I’ll never stop dreaming that one day we can be a real family, together, all of us laughing and talking, loving and understanding, not looking at the past but only to the future.” – LaToya Jackson
What is your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie right now is Guy Maddin’s BRAND UPON THE BRAIN because of all the nectar.
