A contemporary getaway in London’s Marylebone at Hyatt Regency London The Churchill
Conveniently tucked away in upmarket Marylebone, located in the heart of London’s West End, featuring views over the charming gardens of Portman Square and steeped in authentic British charm is Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill. The Churchill offers a refined stay, with 440 sophisticated guestrooms, including 50 suites, and 12 distinctive meeting spaces, which feature a quintessential-British design and a renowned nod to Sir Winston Churchill’s life, the man to whom the hotel pays homage. Through artwork, photographs and books, the spaces tell the story of Churchill’s leisure and work life as well as his travels, passions and achievements as a statesman, while the interior design lends a touch of glamour and individuality to any event. Many of the elegant rooms overlook the gardens of Portman Square and the suites feature Molton Brown toiletries. The hotel offers a full range of services tailored to serve the needs of business and leisure travellers. Dining options include seasonal British dishes at The Montagu Kitchen, craft cocktails at award-winning The Churchill Bar & Terrace or Italian fine dining at the Michelin-starred Locanda Locatelli. If your stay includes shopping, Marylebone is an ideal location. Moments from Oxford Street and Marble Arch; the city’s top cultural attractions and unbeatable shopping are all on its doorstep. You’ll find independent labels, ateliers and specialist stores in this upmarket, village-like neighbourhood, clustered around Marylebone High Street and the smaller side streets. Marylebone Farmers’ Market takes place every Sunday.
We stayed in a one-king-bed room with club access. This gave us access to The Regency Club, complete with complimentary drinks and canapés at specific times during the day. We also dined in The Montagu Kitchen; a modern British restaurant led by Executive Chef Roger Olsson. Alongside à la carte dining for dinner and a set menu for lunch, The Montagu Kitchen also offers breakfast, a sumptuous Sunday Brunch and ongoing seasonal set menus. The menu includes what Roger calls ‘British Icons’, inspired by seasonal produce, trusted suppliers, quality, and sustainability. This is no ordinary menu; you are encouraged to work your way through the different chapters of the menu, choosing one dish (or more, if you wish) from each chapter, embarking on a unique culinary journey. It starts with the Prologue; moving onto Harvested, Hooked, Farmed; and ends with the Epilogue. There are also Montagu Specials. This means you not only get a varied meal, but you also have a fun and engaging dining experience. A perfect stay from check-in to check-out and the staff were amazing. A good size room with a comfy bed, which is always good! The Happy Hour in The Regency Club was excellent and a great start to our evening, and The Montagu Kitchen was a delicious gastronomic journey. Thank you, we’ll be back.
